- Once there was a bustling construction zone here. Now it's like a ghost town, frozen in time.
Heavy machinery is parked and motionless. Stacks of steel bollards stretch as far as the eye can see.
The Trump administration built more than 450 miles of fencing along the US-Mexico border -- including hundreds of miles of replacement fencing and 52 miles of construction where there were no barriers before. The wall became a focal point of his presidency, a staging ground for political rallies and a symbol of the administration's controversial immigration crackdowns.

Trump felt that people needed the money and signed it so AMERICANS would get financial relief. One of the first things Trump did when he became president was to take the policy that had been at the border for over 4 decades and tried to implement a Title 42 which was shot down by Congress and just as the pandemic started he then was able to implement it. What he fail to look at was how unconstitutional and in humane it was but it didn't matter to him. The Title was suppose to be expired in May of this year but 13 states decided to take it to court because they didn't want the migrant workers coming across the border which since the Title has been active America is buying there produce from Mexico now because we don't have the pickers to come do the work nobody else wants too. Oh...! Those 13 states are all republican. Go figure

Part of the issue is that the border wall is NOT on the border. Not everyone living close to the border wants it., others want more. Some ranchers complain that their cattle can't get to the river anymore to drink. There was a rancher who had the wall cut through his land and his barn was on the Mexican side, caught fire, there was no access door on his property, and all he could do is hear the screams of his animals until they finally died. So, there is more than one story. Some parts of the wall are already being eroded by flooding. That's what happens when you do cheap. Donnie loves cheap.

I never understood the wall concept - its so expensive. US has the best AI/ML systems. Couldn't they have bought a couple of thousand UAVs and connect it to a command decision system with a learning algorithm to differentiate between animals and humans ?
