- On April 29th, 2019, Fisher Sand & Gravel Co. was contacted by We Build the Wall to construct a half mile of fence in Sunland Park, New Mexico. The location was deemed “Unbuildable” by government agencies due to the harsh construction conditions. In just over one month of being notified of this project, Fisher procured and fabricated the bollard fence panels and finished all construction within two weeks.

Various types of fencing totalling 654 miles (just over 1,000 km) were already in place before Mr Trump became president in 2017.

Some money was allocated by Congress in 2018 for projects at the border.
However, in 2019 Mr Trump used national emergency powers to divert funds from the Department of Defense after Congress rejected more money for the wall.
There has been around $15bn spent for the construction of the barrier coming from various US government departments, including the Department of Homeland Security, and the Defense and Treasury Departments.
It was originally estimated a cross-border wall could cost anything from $12bn to $40bn.
Despite this, in the run-up to the 3 November 2020 election, President Trump continued to say that "Mexico is paying for it".
In the past, he's implied that a new trade agreement (signed last year) involving Mexico and Canada would indirectly save the US money, which could be spent on the wall.
However, it's not clear how exactly this would work.
President Trump also pledged to reduce illegal movement across the border.

Who are "they"? Also fyi, Fisher built the fence on private property with the owners approval. Access was right off a major highway and right next to what looks to be a cement plant. The land was also semi graded so they didn't need to prep much. Wagner Equipment Co. where they probably rented all the hydraulic excavators is right down the street. So, all the conditions were perfect for a fast easy inexpensive job. Repeat - all the conditions. Lets see Fisher duplicate his work anywhere else. Anywhere. This little fence will only be symbolic in reminding us that Trump lied when he said Mexico would pay. Even people that believed him and were fooled will soon stop thinking about it. Because who likes to remember the time when they thought lies were true? No one I know.

I rarely project stories of my grandfather, but one comes to call after watching this video. My grandfather had worked outdoors in the Civilian Conservation Corps before entering the Army during the Second World War. As living family understands it, he trained for a while in a provisional ranger battalion before leaving and reintegrating into the regular 29th division, and landed at Normandy in (apparently) the regular 116th Infantry, possibly as a sapper (family recounts him saying that he worked on trying to break apart the concrete impediments laid down by the Germans in the gullies/exits moving upstream off the beach). He made it through breakout, and moved over to the 729th Ordnance company in August. As his deceased sister told it, he received a field recommendation for a silver star after apparently getting pinned down somewhere near Julich in the advance to the Roer River. However, upon the liberation of an unnamed concentration/labor camp (my own research tells me this must have been the Dinslaken camp), the field recommendation was withdrawn after my grandfather apparently punched or struck a local mayoral official or administrator in a fit of anger after confronting the official about "letting it happen" (the concentration/labor camp), or sentiments to that effect, and my grandfather never received the star. He apparently completed the invasion with the 729th through V-E Day, and returned to the U.S. with the 29th division for mustering out. This historical story is the God-honest truth as my living family knows it. I suspect it is highly accurate. I am left wondering what my grandfather would say if he could have seen this video about your wall.
