In Nigeria, majority doesn't know anything like CPR. Instead, they will be pouring water on the victim and be shouting Jesus, Jesus and end up saying it was an imaginary devil somewhere! So pathetic. A lot is still missing in the country but unfortunately, people don't know nothing. May Whitney's soul rest in peace and may God grant her parents the fortitude to bear the loss. So sad!😭
She was electrocuted. Her classmate gave a true narration of what happened to Whitney and I heard the record clearly. She touched the cotton candy out of excitement while it was still being made with wet hands and got electrocuted. It is a disgrace that a school like Chrisland couldn’t meet its standard at that Event.
If she was electrocuted then the water they poured her caused more damage to her body. She had touched the electric candy maker with wet hand and when she collapse, u pour her water instead of CPR and oxygen. This was a respiratory arrest and she could have been revived if they had taken her to an emergency hospital with better equipments
Great one Summer To be honest I think every parent should do due diligence in asking the right questions when choosing a school for their children. Most of these schools are just big for nothing, low/substandard equipments on ground. They won't even employ the service of a proper admistrator talk more of an HSE officer. Asking the right questions and making your ward's school do the right thing puts not only your child in the right environment but also your neighbors child also. Schools should be held accountable always
Many times, schools are selected for the prestige badge. The more expensive, the more exclusive, the better it's perceived to be. The yardstick is often based on frivolities - excursions abroad, the company they'll keep ie who else will be there and such. Summer you nailed it but often parents don't know what to ask for.
Our darling Summer,THANK YOU, for really hitting the nail right on the head as always,YOU NEVER FAIL to deliver in your analysis, from professional view and all round,God bless you
The school was not prepared to address crisis and it appeared that there was no contingency plan; because they never called the parents and we are talking of a 12 years old girl. Let's remember the parents in our prayers 🙏
They should definitely have a nurse and doctor on standby during such activities, and a kiosk with chilled water available for children to drink. Hydration is paramount during sporting activities in such hot weather. And of course CPR training. A lot of pple die from negligence in that country. It's a pity o. May her soul rest in peace. Amen.
Summer ,you are a rare Gem. You are so full of Wisdom,. I so much love your taught about this issue. You are making a lot of Sense my dear I pray God console the parents
The fact that they went to a stadium in the heat, they should have had a doctor, 2 nurses and a fully stocked ambulance. The girl might have still died but at least then the school can say they did their best. And the autopsy should be mandatory in such cases. Whether it was natural causes or not, that school should still be held accountable.
Well analyzed and expounded upon , Summer , as usual. As a retired nurse , we know the importance of accountability. There definitely should have been First Aid facilities available on that particular day. CPR and oxygen may have helped to save her. May her soul rest in peace. May the family find comfort in the memories of this beautiful child. This is really heartbreaking. From the Caribbean.
Some of our country Nigeria 🇳🇬 schools with big names na business arena ooo they are not really running the schools for Academic purposes at all, what matters to them is the money 💰 and the school with big names..
Nigeria happened to that family simple. A country that refuses to enforce standards for anything will always have casualties. In basic, functional societies, it is mandatory that any gathering of people over a certain number must have emergency personnel on stand by to administer first aid if needed. But this is Nigeria...our reality.
This is a school that parents are paying millions of Naira for, so they couldn't get their own ambulance service? No first aiders? So what exactly are parents paying for?
They are paying ti boast that their children attend a high paying school. Do parents do background checks about safe guarding and safety measures. Its so sad. That school should close forever.
Whatever we are saying, that program should be halted right away. If it were the child of the proprietor or one of the teachers will they still hold the inter house sports? To me it was wicked in the highest order. What is the school driving in holding the program that was more than the life of someone's child!!!
$13,027.62 USD - 6 million Naria. That's a lot of money. There should be well equipped emergency personnel on staff. In 2023 Nigeria should be operating like the Western world.
When I heard the story too what I said it could be cardiac related or dehydration especially under that hot Temperature matching. Dehydration kills too . Also alot of people are working around not knowing they have cardiac related issues. The school is also very greedy by not having good doctor and nurses around especially during the inter house sport. No proper first aid in place so the parent can as well sue them for negligence
That child died due to negligence of the school. They were supposed to have a school health center and emergency procedures for an emergency. The school is for profit and nothing else.
Summer Nigeria school no matter how much you pay doesn't have accountability and don't know how to provide duty of care to kids and workers under them. May the young girl soul continue to rest in peace and I pray God continue to console the parents
They're wasting their time talking too much. They should target the school and set it ablaze. Why always the same school? No school in abroad can try all these nonsense...the parents of the child/children will drag and sue their a$$es and the school license will be revoked immediately.
Root causes Lack of adult supervision Lack of consideration for risks involved in the event Poor attitude towards health and safety No value for lives, no accountability Unfortunately this being Nigeria, will anything change 😕
You are right and it’s also called international school . As a nurse myself we should organize a cpr class for both the teachers and students in Nigeria. Sign up my fellow diaspora nurses. We have to avoid this happening again. Let’s give little as we can. Who’s in.
A society where corruption runs unabated from the leadership to the followership leaves no room for accountability, as people don't see the need to do things the right way but rather cut corners whilst giving the facade of doing the right thing. Nigeria as it now, going by reports lacks a "properly instituted and effectively functional system"..There's is no deliberate application of the law (in cases where their is law); it is what the leaders say is the law, this in sharp contrast to what's obtainable in the western world.. Until Nigeria, and Nigerians get it right, Nobody should expect genuine orderliness and true development, rather an exacerbation of the present woes and calamities that plague the polity.. Nigeria has a choice to make; align with the civilized world and uphold the law or watch their society degenerate into the abyss. Just my two-cents, Thanks!!!
This girls death pains me to my marrows though I don’t know them but as a mother myself I just can’t stop crying, this is just too much for a mother to bear. I pray God almighty consoles the family and give them justice at least that will help in healing them fast.
If they are paying as expenses as that amount at least they should have full time doctor/nurse, emergency car etc but as Nigeria now they will only collecting money without doing the proper thing, if they collect such amount without quality they just carry name on head.
Hello Summer, you have a point. Normally during inter house sports there should be a doctor and nurse on ground but can’t recall if we had that when I was in secondary school but in higher institutions during our sports program we always have as it’s usually within the school premises. Another thing that is running through my mind is that what are parents paying for in the school? It’s high time parents should start asking questions on the facility and what have you the school provides. It shouldn’t be only in education standards but should range in every aspect of what the school provides from the type of food, to students with allergies, hostels, etc. going forward parents should draw out lists of questions to ask and it should not be limited to the school education standards, it should go beyond that. Even if she has a cardiac arrest, cpr is the first thing that should be done not to be drenched in water
Why do they keep coming into lime light with bad reports? Parents please be wise! There are so many things this school is not doing right, and they better sit up, otherwise, they will crash. Lives are too precious to be lost due to negligence. May God console the family.
Lack of CPR as well. They Nurse could have performed to the Child CPR immediately before she was taken to hospital. Even the hospital should have tried and performed her CPR as well to restart her Heart.
It's just sad that all this started from our leader who never value humans life because if they does no school, hospital etc will neglect a critical issue but our government it's just sad
After paying such an amount of Money, they could have had a Doctor, Nurses, Medical Plan in case of Emergency. The School did not do enough. There was was no Adult supervision. They were very negligent. When she slapped and fall how did she land on the ground? Did she hit her head on the ground causing brain bleed? All those are questions they should have asked whoever was present.
Well said u see they should have trained individuals who knows how to administer CPR because if CPR was administer to her probably she might have lived what an unfortunate incident
There are no federal or state policies that mandate them to have competent healthcare professionals. We got a lot to accomplish in Naija. Every parent should be questioning schools if they have healthcare professionals on ground prior to enrolling their children. Also, parents should assess the proximity of hospitals in school locations.
If I may ask, how will they establish the cause of death without a post mortem? How will they register the death and get burial permit without knowing the real cause of death?
So sad. Very expensive school with no basic needs 😢 I also listened to the voice recording where it was said that whitney stepped on naked wire and water was poured on her
It's so unfortunate that this led to death . In a previous chat the father of Wthney did mention that the daughter was taken to the Doctor because she was not feeling well but at the end wthney attributed the fever to "anxiety " of a forth coming event. Maybe Wthney shouldn't have gone but then, still a youth with kin interest This is one of the things we are crying about in our country . That Sports centre should have long been equipped with a Medical Centre because accidents or incidents of any type could happen especially if it has to do with sports. . I hope all authorities in planning in the government will sit and redesign all public avenues where a crowd of people meet. We are very backward in safety measures. May her Soul rest in peace.
We heard that the girl was electrocuted. Please don't forget that in Nigeria, it is 240volts and when electric current passes through the body, it will stop the heart instantly. In a situation like that, CPR may or may not help. May her soul rest in peace.
It is obvious that the school does not have an in-house nurse or doctor because if they did, they will surely be at the sports event. I am sure that school does have PTA meetings; why haven't any parent raised that issue before disaster struck. If parents have raised that issue and the school did not heed to providing in-house medical facility, then that is complete negligence on school's part.
The same dying patterns has been occurring in athletes who took the Cov - Vaccine. An immunization Center , a young victim, the same dying pattern . Did she receive the Vaccine at some point , even at the center?
When I registered my children into a particular school, the form given to us had some questions. Allergies, what to do in case of an emergency, preferred hospital by parent, emergency number to call. And the school had was said to have medics and a standby ambulance within reach. I expected Chris land school to have an ambulance and medics on ground on the field. Even if a child fainted, what could turn the tongue and lips black? Its strange. Besides the fact that the school pupils are saying a different story. Why are they keeping them shut?
Even if she was electrocuted as the comments say, why can't the school gently come out and tell the parents the truth and just acknowledge the unfortunate situation. This also a lesson regarding children safety. A child of that age should know not to touch any electric stuff while it's in operation or with wet hands. Safety education matter. CPR may not have been able to prevent it but the school did not even have CPR or any safety educator on ground.
The mother was in the school while her daughter was dying and no phone call was made she could have taken her to the family doctor that was my anger why not call her parents
You are correct. But the other children said she was electrocuted by an exposed wire from a candy machine. Again the girl's father said the school asked him not to do autopsy. Why?. I s the school trying to cover up the cause of her death for their own selfish reason? We just have to wait for the autopsy report.
Thank you...i am a Nigerian Doctor schooled and living abroad and you pretty much said what needed to be said in this case. Condolences to the family. About the rumors that she got eletrocuted....if this was the case, then it will be easy for the investigation to find out.. so let us wait. Just to note....i went to chrisland as a kid....and it was already damn expensive back then...so imagine now. My father used to tell me how expensive it was...lol.
I remembered her mum said when she saw her corpse, that her tongue and lips were black. What could have made the tongue and lips turn black! Probably, she was electrocuted as the voice of the student narrated. Can heart attack/heart failure, or any related heart disease, make someone's tongue and lips to turn black! I'm just curious anyway! It's ONLY God that knows exactly the truth of what happened to the girl. So sad, honestly!
The case of Whitney was clearly electrocution. And water wasn't the first aid for someone who is electrocuted. The burns on her lips and tongue clearly showed it was an electrocution case. Besides the students present at the candy machine had already mentioned it. My concern is, "why is the school not ready to tell the parent the truth, why is the real cause hidden, there were witnesses and why did the principal go ahead with celebration leaving a driver to take the child to the hospital" That was clearly a life threatening emergency.
Story has it that she was electrocuted and it explains d black lips as stated by the mother. Probably the ignorant ones were pouring water instead of cutting off power supply to that room. But my confusion is this, if she was electrocuted, no one could hv picked her up as they claimed without d rescuer being shocked too, unless the power supply is turned off.
These parents are paying for basic education that our children are getting here, if Nigeria was working why would parents be paying through their nose for this?
Shumirai Ncube .it's obvious from your comment you don't live in Nigeria! Medical Rescue paramedics? We've never heard that or know what it is in our obodo nigeria!!
The school is also supposed to have a Safety officer that would ensure safety standards and do an audit of the school environment also if they want to use the stadium a safety officer would do an audit of the stadium and make recommendations which will include a Doctor and nurse present and check the stadium on the day of the inter house sport before the day also set up an emergency plan in case of any kind of emergency.
Summer has 'summer'-ised this well as usual! Best to SUE THE SCHOOL FOR GROSS NEGLIGENCE for sure and don't let your other children attend WITHOUT a sports safety memorial created on school grounds by the school for that deceased child. This is clearly a death due to a lack of duty of care. A lot of private school parents in Nigeria are also ignorant as they don't mention these things in their planning committees, especially when the VENUE OF EVENT IS NOT ON THEIR SCHOOL GROUNDS. They don't even ask questions about the EMERGENCY CREW, vendors and security plans at the venue which shows how SAFE their children really are when not on school grounds!
They knew she was dead and went to go and dump her at the immunisation centre. If she was sick before, why wasn't the mother informed straight away so she can come and pick up her daughter? I can't understand why her lips n tongue turned black so soon.
African nurses and doctors need to do more training and also need to know about CPR to save people's lives. As for this young 12 year old Whitney RIP, Chris Land School didn't do well for Whitney. When they have an issue like that they should've called the ambulance and the nurse should know how to perform CPR I'm just saying 🙌🙌
A doctor and nurse too small o!!! When I heard the story, the first thing I asked was "was there an ambulance there?" With all the fees paid, no ambulance, no paramedicals loitering around? When there was the sex incidence at a Dubai competition regarding this same school, there was the issue of poor adult supervison. Why don't they ever employ, even if its temporary experts for events? With all the money they collect? Im so furious eh!
My question is when will Nigeria start to behave like human beings? This is do sad. Why do Nigeria people pour water on unconscious person and yelling the person make? U have spoken well sis. Why are the school telling Whitney parents not to do autopsy naija people get mind. What are the school trying to hide Sylvester death has no explanation till date. That school she be close Permanent.
My opinion is the school should have they necessary equipment at. Hand for emergencies I am sorry black country they don't have longy term plans in place at all gee back wards is an understate statements
It puzzles me why the Chrisland Ikeja branch will go all the way to Agege for inter-house sports. 2nd, like you, said they should have medical staff in fact an ambulance and at the very least red cross present. If I am going to pay huge school fees, I will expect higher standards. This school has been plagued with scandals bordering on negligence for years now. Now, how does a child allegedly get electrocuted from a candy machine? The school is not taking any responsibility for this. Anyway, an autopsy will reveal the truth soon. It is just so tragic!
Summer the child was shock by electric and they poured water on her that what a student in the school said. And the mom said her daughter lip n tongue was black so it might be through what the students said.
Before parent get there kids admired to a very expensive school, should always find out other things school have. More where did they take the child to.
Before you come to social media get your information before you jump to a conclusion. The girl was electrocuted when she tried to buy popcorn with a wet hand and held the wire .
the school didn't have any emergency preparedness on the ground. that was very poor of them. nigeria educational system needs to be reevaluated, it should include CPR classes. schools should have emergency services, including trained nurses /paramedics, basic life support trained staff, defibrillators and a functioning ambulance, and a good connection to a reference hospital.
Dear summer , I just wish to ask with regards to what you said . I’m cardiac emergencies or adult sudden dead. Does the corpse turn black ? Does the tongue turn black? Am a health professional too but I can say with what the mum narrated and what you are trying to put out there doesn’t make sense Instead of speculating I suggest we sit tight and wait for the autopsy results. What you said is true as not cardiac emergencies don’t present with any symptoms , however after the dead and the state of the corpse, this definitely cannot be associated with what you explained. However , I suggest you stand still and wait for autopsy reports before you make what ever video you want to make with facts.
One of the students said that the girl was electrocuted. That she went to one of the kiosk to buy something. That the kiosk has a lot of electric cords that was exposed that the girl mistake ly stepped on it . . So why are they lying. They should tell the truth and apologize.
Funny enough even if the school is not expensive they can make arrangement with a hospital for a doctor and nurse to be present at the interhouse sport .I am sure they can get one for as low as 100000 for a day and not more than 500000.The school is greedy .
After all is said and done we should always pray for our children. May our families never be victims of someone's carelessness in Jesus name.
Amen!
Very important

Thanks for your comment which shed light on the cause of the incident. 👍
That make a little sense that as the mother said . The tongue 👅 turned black and body dripping water 💧 in less than 24 hours.
@@InGodwetrust365 they poured water on her
That was it. To make the matter worse, there was no emergency personnel at the venue, not even a first aid officer.

An immunization Center , a young victim, the same dying pattern .
Did she receive the Vaccine at some point , even at the center?
The school is just too expensive , and now see what happened😢
Well said. That school again! I really wonder what the parents are paying for o!
Some said she stepped on a naked wire, where she went to buy popcorn and was elotrocuted
You are correct. But the other children said she was electrocuted by an exposed wire from a candy machine. Again the girl's father said the school asked him not to do autopsy. Why?. I s the school trying to cover up the cause of her death for their own selfish reason? We just have to wait for the autopsy report.
Thnx so.much Summer for this detail analysis. This school needed to do better.
So sad! lord please give the family the strength to over come their pains 😭😭😭
The school should have a Doctor and nurses on stand by always, well put Summer 🙏
The School shouldn't just have a nurse and a doctor, but a team of medical professionals. My own opinion anyway.
Congenital heart diseases, even heart failure. Heatstroke, etc.
Exactly
I want to believe she got disconnected as soon as she fell.
@@SeunOke_ likely possibility because she did not hold on to it, she just touched as she attempted to get cotton candy.
That was how a lady that fell in side swimming pool died ,she can't swim and the people working there don't know how to swim imagine.
And no life guard.
@@floBar51651 nothing of such
These parents are paying for basic education that our children are getting here, if Nigeria was working why would parents be paying through their nose for this?
@@awmy3109 That school has been overrated for the longest time, what's so "special " about them? Basic first aiders they don't have.
6 million niaraaaaa for schoolllllll, haaaaaa now I get why the expectations were too high
Too much
Medical Rescue paramedics should be there in case
Shumirai Ncube .it's obvious from your comment you don't live in Nigeria!
Medical Rescue paramedics? We've never heard that or know what it is in our obodo nigeria!!
This is so sad May her soul rest in peace
May her soul rest in peace
It's the fact that they continued the event as though nothing has happened...the principal was still in the school acting normal
The school is expensive my son finished 2020.. boarding was #1.m .... I don't know about now ..VERY SAD CARLESS 😔 situation.
They knew she was dead and went to go and dump her at the immunisation centre. If she was sick before, why wasn't the mother informed straight away so she can come and pick up her daughter?
I can't understand why her lips n tongue turned black so soon.
A very very sad story mat God console that father
What are the school trying to hide
Sylvester death has no explanation till date. That school she be close Permanent.
Where are they getting this kind of money from abeg in a country where there are a lots of poor people
My opinion is the school should have they necessary equipment at.
The autopsy confirmed that she was electrocuted
Summer the child was shock by electric and they poured water on her that what a student in the school said. And the mom said her daughter lip n tongue was black so it might be through what the students said.
Summer, I agree with you.
I am waiting for the autopsy results. Does heart issues that cause sudden death darken the lips and the tongue?
When people die the lips and tongue will darken because of lack of blood supply around the body.
@@summeraku exactly I remember a street sis then when she died she turned black
@@summeraku Typically how long does that take to happen?
@@summeraku oh I didn't know but it seems it doesn't happen quickly for some.
It does not darken immediately it take like hours when rigor mortis has set in.
You are very correct my lady
Before parent get there kids admired to a very expensive school, should always find out other things school have. More where did they take the child to.
Before you come to social media get your information before you jump to a conclusion. The girl was electrocuted when she tried to buy popcorn with a wet hand and held the wire
.
First thing that came to my mind is HOCM. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
This is sad, may her soul rest in peace
They should close that school alots of scandal has happened in that school.
the school didn't have any emergency preparedness on the ground. that was very poor of them.
nigeria educational system needs to be reevaluated, it should include CPR classes. schools should have emergency services, including trained nurses /paramedics, basic life support trained staff, defibrillators and a functioning ambulance, and a good connection to a reference hospital.
My thought exactly.
So true to that 🙏
Dear summer ,
I just wish to ask with regards to what you said . I’m cardiac emergencies or adult sudden dead. Does the corpse turn black ? Does the tongue turn black? Am a health professional too but I can say with what the mum narrated and what you are trying to put out there doesn’t make sense
Instead of speculating I suggest we sit tight and wait for the autopsy results. What you said is true as not cardiac emergencies don’t present with any symptoms , however after the dead and the state of the corpse, this definitely cannot be associated with what you explained. However , I suggest you stand still and wait for autopsy reports before you make what ever video you want to make with facts.
It's Nigeria health and safety does not exist and zero regulation
summer per term is 500k naira..3 term is 1.5 million naira..
One of the students said that the girl was electrocuted. That she went to one of the kiosk to buy something. That the kiosk has a lot of electric cords that was exposed that the girl mistake ly stepped on it . . So why are they lying.
They should tell the truth and apologize.
I see how stories get twisted,Summer told the story differently from what the mother said because I listened to her too
Funny enough even if the school is not expensive they can make arrangement with a hospital for a doctor and nurse to be present at the interhouse sport .I am sure they can get one for as low as 100000 for a day and not more than 500000.The school is greedy .
The mother claimed her tongue and lips were black, is that not to be looked into
