I just switched from a Nitto Terra Grappler in a 295/60x20 to a Nitto Recon Grappler in a 35/12.5x20 on a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 and noticed quite a few differences even though it was on the same 20x10 rims and the same suspension. First the ride quality was better on the Recon Grappler tires with no increase in noise, which was a bit of a surprise since they are a more aggressive tread pattern. Second was the fact that the 35's are heavier by quite a bit and they take more torque to get off the line to get them rolling and more brake power to get to a quick stop, this was immediately felt as soon as I got in it. I am sure that 37's look awesome, especially with a 6 - 8 inch lift, but I am more than happy with the look of the 35's on a 4 inch lift.
Damn you were getting better mpg than my F150 with the 3.7L V6 that had a lift and 33s on 18s lol. That thing got 8-9mpg in the city, and 13-14 highway. Now I got a 2017 Ram 1500 with the 3.6 and my worst mpg on 31s on 17 is better than my old F150 at its best. My worst is about 16 while my best recorded mpg was 22.7 lol. I am considering going to 33s again bc it'd look cool. 35 and 37s I heard on the 3.6 with the 3.21 rear ends are overkill so I won't be doing that haha. but your truck looks VERY neat man!
@@5thGen_Corey Yeah it was! I think plugs were bad and a one of the ignition coil might have been bad too. Would misfire at colder than operating temps. I still am a Ford guy but I needed a break so I went to Ram lol.
I have a 2019 ram 1500 classic with the 3.6 L and a 3.21 gear ratio I’ve been running 35s on 20 inch wheels for about a year now and average 16 miles per gallon on the highway in about 15 miles per gallon around town. You definitely lose power, having the 321 gear ratio, but it still has plenty of power to spend them especially off Roading when you’re in four-wheel-drive
@@LUCASLAY720 That's cool. Funny enough, literally yesterday I put 33s on my truck and today I had a shop check alignment and balanced them properly. I bought a set of used Ram Rebel rims 285/70r17 Kelly Edge AT for $500. Tires are in pretty good shape so I'll use them up before I actually buy brand new tires. So far I'm at 14 to 20mpg. @@darkbathe hey man it’s a 6” BDS lift and yeah with the 4” air lift you’ll fit 37s as long as you don’t go crazy on the wheel offset. Up to -24 should be fine

Hey man, love the truck and about to start upgrading mine which is identical. Are the pods in the bumper completely custom or is that available to buy and install? Thanks
As always great video. I plan on putting 37s on my truck. You had no issues with rubbing with 12.5 / negative 24 ?? Also Waiting for feedback on your grill modification you posted you would have available for sale. Can’t wait to support your design
Thanks man! Nope I didn’t have any rubbing with that setup. If you have a 6” lift you’ll be fine. If you’re a little lower than 6” it may require small amounts of plastic or pinch weld trimming. @@Touchedbyapriest sure you can go from 3.21s to 3.92s since it’s a factory option, but you can’t regear them aftermarket because the front differential is welded. So you can only regear 2wd trucks aftermarket

I have a limited and thinking putting 18” rims on it. But scared it couldnt fit the calipers 😂 do you have any problem with rocks stuck between the calipers and rims at all?
It’s extremely tight! Only about 1mm of clearance lol I just took off the wheels yesterday and there’s no scratches on the backsides from rocks getting stuck, so no! But I’ve heard not every 18” wheel fits. There are some out there that are too tight
@@ericduncan6512 is that the air ride kit? I’d be worried when it goes into aero mode but it might work depending on wheel offset. If you stick to 0 or -12 offset with 37x12.50 tires I could see it probably working
@@5thGen_Corey yes it is air ride. I’m currently running 35x12.50 on stock 20 inch rims. With very minimal scrubbing in normal mode. No scrubbing on off road 1 and 2. So I figured a 5 inch lift would fit 37’s pretty decent. Negative offset means the wheels will stick out, correct?
