mid 90's when i bought the first generation(i believe) of the polikevlar 2-way component series. one of the most expensive purchase for my car which i didn't regret. that said car was sold but i retained the speakers and having so much joy listening with it until now with my new car. with proper gears and installation, you can't go wrong with Focal. these speakers really can sing, beautifully.
I own both 936 and 926 and I thought the same thing until I opened up Aria 926. Cheap crossover parts, the binding posts are using Push Tabs (not screwed) connected thru the cabinet and the MDM is thin. Very disappointed in Focal as the Bean counters are always at work. Oh, the inside cabinet are NOT lined, and they only use roll stuffing.

What an exemplary company that shines in everything it does.
Met JM at Capitol audio fest. Very approachable
