    ! This content was not generated by AI. The script was completely written by me, I also do all the visualizations and editing. The only exception is the voiceover made by a robot reader who read the text I wrote !

      My opinion is that YOU should read your own text. A robot voiceover is obvious in its lack of humanity, regardless of what 'they' think they can do. Just saying.

      Very nice job. Looking forward to viewing your other vids on hifi manufacturers. As for those that dislike aspects of this video, they should link their own videos so we can get an example of how to improve things. (Not going to hold my breath waiting for that to happen.)

    My DAC Naim sounds very good , could never change it to something else.
    It is reference DAC , and with external power supply. Expensive but can not live without it😊😊

  • @MrSlipstreem
    @MrSlipstreem 2 месяца назад +2

    It's not so much a case of sound over specs as understanding beyond what point improving specs makes zero audible difference. You can then invest more of the budget in other aspects of the design that actually matter rather than chasing unicorns. In that respect, I think Julian's designs were best described as sensible.

    The reason why NAIM advertises “sound over specs” because their specs aren’t great, they sound “just okay” and are overpriced in North America.

    • @gratmatassa5432
      @gratmatassa5432 2 месяца назад

      you are correct but it's not the whole story, if specs matter that much to sound quality NAD wouldn't have sold the boat load of 3020's it did, spec wise it was nothing to write home about but sound quality wise well enough said. specs play a part but only give you a rough idea of how loud an amplifier is expected to be & will it drive/control your speakers, good circuit design plays the biggest part get the signal in & out as quick & as faithful to the source as possible with enough watts & more importantly current to complete the task.

      You can't expect the "childish" transistor circuit from the beginning of the seventies will have great specs. Unfortunately at that time not all makers had knowledge of James Bongiorno.

  • @bobisyouruncle1
    @bobisyouruncle1 2 месяца назад +2

    Great specs are a marketting con, and don't tell you what the product sounds like. A little even harmonic distortion gives character, but that will look bad on the spec sheet...

    1st Generation NDX new firmware update is just a joke solves no problems , when using tidal , new naim streamers 5k - 8k & upwards ,
    £200 streamer connected to CD DAC gives far better results saving £thousand’s with no problems . Complete game changer , don’t be conned with hi priced hifi .

    I liked this video, but couldn’t understand why virtually every product name was mispronounced. I have a Naim system and feel like the value is there in many of their products. For example the CD5 is a fantastic CD player that sounds much better than others I’ve heard. However the CD555 which costs almost infinitely more doesn’t sound better to me. I like that Naim thinks for themselves.
    However, I agree that they have strayed from their original values. For example, for years Naim insisted that you didn’t need fancy interconnects and power cords. They have since done a 180 and now are happy to sell you extremely expensive cables.

  • @willhemmings

    I was interested to find out about the Naim story, but please get rid of the distracting artificial voice in future. I never did buy a Naim system because back in the 1980's when I was auditioning equipment the local hi fi shop was trying to force an aggressive sale of the Linn LP12 with Naim electronics. Nothing else mattered to them. I didn't like the Linn/Naim sound and I thought their products were the hi fi equivalent of the Emperor's New Clothes. But wow Naim knew how to advertise a product
