  • In this video we do a full review of the Fairphone 4 with e/OS. After spending weeks with this phone I'm ready to give you the good, the bad, and the ugly. Should you make Fairphone with e/OS your next device? Find out in this video.
    Purchase here: murena.com/?sld=12
Made with respect: All the parts in the Fairphone 4 come together in perfect harmony because people made it that way. With each Fairphone 4, they worked with suppliers to reserve a living wage bonus for factory workers.

Hi, for the gesture vs touch just go in settings, Accessibility / System command / System navigation

Thanks for sharing. I'll definitely go with Murena Fairphone/Framework route with my next upgrade. Been following both for so long.

The dream! I want that 16" Frameworks

Totally agree. I bought a System76 laptop a while ago but Next upgrade cycle (which admittedly will be a while most likely) I'm looking at a Framework. In fact, the only ones I'd touch would be either a Tuxedo, System76, or Framework. I 've actucally said the killer laptop would be a marriage of a System76 and Framework in terms of design. Throw on Pop!_OS (doesn't matter which DE you use), and you have entered Nirvana!

Hey! Thank you so much for the videos on the fairphone!
Have you tried flashing any other operating systems on the device? Is it possible to do so?
I love what muerna is doing, but I have been *yearning* to try out ubuntu touch on a fully compatible device.

If e/OS/ is 10/10, damn Graphene is 25/10
But I should give it a try still, after using Graphene, Calyx, Divest

Worked perfectly, zero issues. Original video I filmed was 32 minutes I had to take out a lot, sorry my direct answer got cut. Tested messaging, gifs, pictures etc. All worked without a problem

Linus Tech Tips said the fairphone 5 had weak vibration and ringing that was too loud. Do you think that the 4 has the same problems?

Make it available with a color e-ink screen option with fast refresh like the Boox Tab and I will instantly buy it. Even at 2000$. Hope someone at Fairphone is reading. There is a market for this stuff.

OK if you are some kind of geek you will change the icons and colors to fit you. My biggest problem is the lack of headphone jack. I really hate the mess around bluetooth and then you needvto carry around adapters...not nice

Hey Ryan. I liked the video. Personally I like the device. I bought one a while ago and have been trying to daily drive it for a few months. I'm blown away with the battery life, and that it is repairable. Any gripes I have are basically software gripes. The model I have is a vanilla Android 12 (and then got the 13 update which is meh at best) The camera software that ships with Android sucks. Open Camera is better. Problem is my making it the default camera option doesn't work. When I set Open Camera as default it doesn't stick when I double press the power button. The sound is fine. I usually wear with ear buds so for me I simply don't care about not having a headphone jack and sound being just ok on the phone. It's decent midrange hardware and the fact that I can get this and make it work is fabulous. I still need my iphone for things like findmy and airtags. My biggest challenge is I want to move my main phone number to Google Voice but: 1. I don't trust google that much to keep their services around they retire a lot of good projects and 2. the native GV client software is ridiculous. It doesn't manage contacts properly at all. I wish when you logged into your google account on the phone in settings, You could then open the dialer app and select an option to use the native Android dialer as a replacement for the GV client software. It's terrible. Doesn't actually access your contacts and lots of rando telephony issues.
Bottom line is unless you're weird like me then this should be a fabulous device. Even if it only works on T-mobile networks.
Lastly, I enjoy Destination Linux. Jill is amazing! You guys have to work to keep up 😛 (just messin with ya) Muffins or cupcakes...hmmm.... I don't discrimintate. I love em all. And stools... well to each his own (but tell Michael to please update at least once per decade). Take care and keep making awesome vids. Maybe I'll see you guys at SCALE next year.

Is Fairphone the only phone running /e/OS available for U.S. customers?

Murena on their Online store do show, other than Fairphone 4, Terracube 2e, plus refurb of the Pixel 5. They also offer their own device, Murena 2, which has gone through an Indiegogo campaign one month back from post. Offer spare parts too for the Fairphone 4 from Murena.

They do. Murena. I bought mine from a seller in England but I bough extra batteries and a screen replacement from a US shipper. Was thinking about buying an extra USB-C port next.
