I am looking forward to this development and I think it will be good for the country. Put the necessary environmental rules in place, and we should be good. I am sure there are various captured lands across JA that should be protected, and no one cares about them!

Jamaican governments do not think long term. We are seeing a similar issue with private ownership of beaches. The leadership cannot see a future Jamaica so prosperous than no one see the need to go harass tourist on the beaches. But when that time comes, people will be looking back and saying why were they so dumb to sell the country's beaches to private investors.

Would you prefer the government borrow a billion dollars to build the road.? If that road was not built, you would not have all that development on the north coast..
@@uhuru27 the 50 years concession worth of toll fees was good enough but this is what happens why you have a weak economy and low investor confidence that's typical with pnp mis management over their last 25 years in government

Does anyone even remember or was paying attention to the fact that the French company charged the government US$120 million for the work they did and the country was left with no usable road. CHEC came in and paid the government back that US$120 Million that went into the coffers of the government and by extension the people of Jamaica. Otherwise that US$120 million the French collected would just been a big loss for the country.
You already stated why PNP made a good deal. Chec built a prim highway that benefits Jamaica and made the land prim real estate, chec is building housing on the land, which will also benefit Jamaica No highways, no prim land, and other developments in Jamaica

I grew up in Steer Town this piece of land had old stone ruins chains everywhere, this was one of the most fertile area for ackee trees and tamarind. Why did they give this away cant wrap my head around jesasss mi loath PNP. They shouldn't have given this piece away too many watershed in this area
As a person from Steer Town, where would you have recommended that the road be built. Or do you think that we should have continued using the old Chauky hill and Fern gully road? I am really asking you for an alternative. I don't know the area.
I really don't see it has a BIG PRIME LAND. It is surrounded by highways, the land is in the middle of the road. No direct access to the beach, the land is OK. Let CHEC develop the land and add value to the area.

What we have now is that the land is still "paying dividends" to the Jamaican People. The road was paid for and now business and housing will be provided. The Gov will receive tax to pay for essential services. Forward critical thinking is at times lacking. Environmental issues can be dealt with. CHEC cannot remove the land nor road from Ja.

Where would the land be given for residential development. If no license is given, there is still time to make a suggestion on an alternative.
