Hey bro, nice video enlightening the reality of working as a nurse abroad. Who feels it knows it. I agree the compensation is much better and the resources are here but it's a different energy from working back home. I am privileged to work in a small facility, but from time to time things get crazy hectic . The roles and responsibilities here are much more than we do back home. Sometimes we don't realize and appreciate what we have until we lose it. I'm still grateful we were able to migrate and have a different experience.
@@rochellewilliams2022 trust me, I wish every Jamaican nurse could experience the difference. But I guess in all things there are pros and cons and a trade off. Thanks for watching ! 🙏🏾😄
Everything you said here is 100% true! I'll also add that we are also working holidays and weekends and odd hours and bereavement time and vacation time aren't anywhere what you deserve for all the work and massive workload you put in. Nurses are getting burnt out earlier now than before Covid. Shorter staffed with a heavier workload, same pay and not much support. It's crazy for bedside Nurses.
Good day am sorry to intrude on your page.Well I wish you all d best in what you doing. Just that NURSING was my goal, growing up but am slowly getting there. Who feels it knows it, never easy been a NURSE, whether in JAMAICA or outside. Dont feel bad about it, yes its hard sometimes, but look back where God brought you from .Hello God have you there for a purpose, little that you do while God is in it its good. So my encouragement to you is hang in there, fight for strength coz God have your back n He is still in control . ONE LOVE BRO. keep PRAYING God is good ❤❤❤❤
Rough Baadddd!! Listening to you I'm retraumatize!!! I don't know how I did it for 9years...Alarm Fatigue would kill me!! For the last 3 years I have been a procedure nurse, I could never see myself doing bedside ever again!!
More 💪🙌to you take care while you're striving thanks for opening the eyes of those with the misconception of coming to and working in America no road is paved here in gold.Respect
We all say it. We are grateful for the opportunity but the quality of life was honesty much better in Jamaica. My mental health is super important so i finally left the hospital. A whole lot more to say but thats for another day. Stay strong bro.
You are in point with the comparison with the cost of housing, you work the money but the cost of living in America ain't no joke. When I told an American the cost of house rental in Jamaica he was shocked.
Great video, you are so right. I am working in a Caribbean country and my experience is basically the same. Less patients but more work both physically and mentally.
Excellent video. Thank you. You appear to be an excellent nurse. Keep up the good work. Jamaica tend sto lose the good professionals to other countries. I have witnessed some very low quality of care when I take family members to hospitals in Jamaica, many of the doctors and nurses act as if they don’t care and they are the center of the universe (unbelievable) In many countries, staff is held more accountable for the quality of patient care.
Cost of living is high in America. There is no comparison where cost of living is concerned. Yuh work fi every penny yuh get in America. As a medsurg nurse it is very rough. At the end of 12 hour shift is as if someone gave me a good flogging. Body tired. Non stop work from yuh clock in. Not even bathroom break yuh can't get sometimes.
My husband came up in january abd started the hha, i can see its taking a toll on him, the medical field is not fir everyone, i will contiue to pray for him, thanks for the video, i can try and put myself in his shoes, as someone born in America, this transition must be rough
Mi glad yuh can highlight the reality working as a nurse here. I am coming from UWI and when I get here I was shock. The hardest I ever work in my life as a nurse.
They do, many units have an assigned ‘learning specialist’. That person is responsible for teaching staff to use new technology as they are rolled out, and they also reinforce what is best practice per policy. Good question cuz !

I can attest to this medsurg was not easy and that was 7 years ago. And it’s worse now
Transfer to icu. One or two patients. Ok just saw you're in dialysis. Great. I work in Nyc and make $70/hr with differential.
50k-120 for a studio, half side a house or a good apartment.
Oh okay 👍🏾. Even at $120 K JMD, can’t find a decent place in US for that price .
Truth
Y0u need to work in a hospital that give pension in retirement,401k or 403b, barely help
This was a very important video I would like to know which Area you live in? Do you work in A Union hospital? because that makes a big difference.

In your time there, would you say hospitals invest heavily in training their nurses?
