When this is bottled normally (swing top bottle), do you know a approximately how long it lasts in a cool dark environment before it goes bad? And also, if I wanted to make it stronger, should I just swap out the yeast with for example the Mangrove jacks CL23(18%abv Max), or do I have to add more dextrose then as well? (And if so, approximately how much?) Your help is very much appreciated!
Hello, as long as everything is properly sanitized it will stay good in the bottle for at least a year. If you are trying to boost the abv you will also need to add more dextrose along with a stronger yeast. I doubt it will taste any good though. Cheers
Hi I'm looking to make one of these kits but I'm worried when it says it takes 5-7days before adding the flavouring leave for 24hrs and then bottle as I work away in a 14day on 7day off roster. You said you were leaving your Brew for 2 weeks. This is OK to do? It won't hurt my brew at all it I start it right before I go to work for 14days and bottle when I get home?
Hi, yes I always leave whatever kit for roughly 2 weeks before doing anything to it. This gives more time for the yeast to settle out and the cider/beer to clear up. You just want to add the flavoring after fermentation has completed. Cheers
Hi Paul, love your style of brewing there:-) I am brewing an imperial stout using Mangrove Jacks M44 yeast at 20degs C, 36 hrs in, no movement yet, any suggestions?
@@graintoglass yes thanks, full on at the mo:-) I added a lallemand Notting to it to be sure too, I’ve heard they are good for re starting a fermentation??
Yes you can keg cider just like you do beer. I like my cider a little more carbonated than beer so I usually do 15 psi but that's just personal preference. Cheers!
Hi, I don't like the idea off adding boiling water to a plastic fermenter so I didn't. I've always added "hot" water to these cider kits and haven't had any issues. I assume they call for boiling water to help dissolve the cider extract and dextrose but I personally don't think it's necessary as long as you mix well. Cheers!

M44 has a bit of a lag time. Any signs of fermentation yet?

So, you don't have to do the boil at the start like with beers?
That's correct, no boiling required for these cider kits. Cheers
Can you ferment this kit under pressure?
Yes you could ferment this under pressure. Cheers
Instead of bottling, can it just be treated as beer and kegged? Would you still use about 12 psi and duration about 2 weeks?
Yes you can keg cider just like you do beer. I like my cider a little more carbonated than beer so I usually do 15 psi but that's just personal preference. Cheers!
It says on the back to add boiling water..... does this have a different instruction?
