I am a Hungarian guitar player, so I never even seen a marching band live. I have no idea what he's doing this whole time, but I watched the whole thing and it was fascinating.
For the sticking issue, instead of using the sticking feature (which they just added practically and is still janky), use Ctrl + L to input the sticking as lyrics. It does the same thing as sticking practically but doesn't have nearly the amount of issues that sticking has.
I haven't touched a set of tenors in my life, but I really enjoyed this video either way. I just never knew that there was a pattern called "Book reports"
@Pizza Taco Yeah, been drumming since 1974 and only strapped up to a "timp-tom trio" once (we didn't even have "quads") and immediately went back to snare...too heavy!!! Yes "rudiment" but when I graduated HS in 1977 we still had the standard 26 NARD ...unfortunately they went full corp style in 1978! I've been a rockin' praise drummer at my church since 1987, (worship leader w/my wife since 2007) on my Roland TD-6 double pedal kit w/vintage PD-21 pads for my 4 toms and a PD-11 kick w/PD-10 guts. Had 7 Zildjian cymbals until switching to CY-16's. EXCELLENT job Eric! As usual your chops are stellar!
@@rogerjones6033 It's paradiddle sticking (RlrrLrll) with a diddle on the accent, a flam on the "and" count, and a diddle on the "a" count. It sounds like Dig-a-duh gda dig-a
22:54 is easily my favorite section, it’s got lots of groove! I know this comment is several months late and you’ll probably never see this comment but I think it’d be really cool if you arranged some snare and bass parts to that and made it a full cadence!
This is one of my favorite videos of yours. I really expected you to do an over the top of the weird visuals at the end but you didn’t. You made it about the music and I think that’s really really cool
I don't know what it's called but it's the theme for when you have the star in mario I just finished replaying super Mario 3D land after a few years so it's fresh on my mine
You are absolutely amazing! I banged on pots and pans when I was like three years old. Wanted the drummer spot in elementary school but was filled so I ended up with trumpet. Lol. I still play today but wish I got the lessons back then.
You're super talented bro. I love your energetic, positive attitude towards everything, and your dedication to music. Thanks for the great videos. 👍👍🥁🤘 Oh...and GOOD MORNING!!!
Something that will work for stickings in Muse score is to right-click on one, select all similar elements in staff, then use the inspector tool to set them to a specified height
This video was awesome! How can anyone not like this? Wish I could play multiple toms but trying to read the sheet music is way over my head. I played snare drum in high school and one semester in college which was eons ago. Now I play drums at my church. I sure do miss playing in a drumline.
Eric, you should try attaching a google doc to a post and make it to where fans submit there own cadences or solos that you have to perform. Then which ever one you like the best, you give them a prize of some sort.
I don’t play the the drums in band i play trumpet but i just love watching your videos 🎺🥁. I respect everyone in band percussion wood winds and other brass players
Ok to fix the sticking for musescore, you can click on one of the ones you want to change and go to the inspector on the right. Then move the y axis to where you want it, and set it as default by clicking the button to the right of it. This makes all sticking notations the same place as the on you set them too. Hope this helped a little!
The fact he (along with many others including me) think musescore is better than Finale is insane. I love musescore for caring so much and not selling out. Amazing team
I love your channel. First of all, we look alike, except I got lasik a few years ago. I also played about as much quads as one could play between 1998 and 2006. I won PASIC solos in 2001 (HS) and 2006. I loved every bit the process of writing and performing them. Many years I’d start writing even 5 or 6 months in advance. Anyways, your channel is like a portal to my former life. I pretty much haven’t participated with marching percussion in 10 years. I started gigging, and just switched directions. It’s fun being a working drummer, but doesn’t have the “fighter pilot” feel of being able to fly on the quads...something I miss. Anyways, thanks for the content!
You can fix the sticking by (this is gonna be a pain in the butt but bear with me) clicking on each individual sticking letter and moving them up or down using the arrow keys :( hope this helped!
10:04 I have that issue with sticking as well, from what I can tell it is Musescore 3.0's new feature "Automatic Placement" glitching out, which would explain why you placing a dynamic marking *kinda* fixes it. For sticking I usually do (Ctrl+l) which is technically "Lyrics" text, and unfortunately I will write one sticking, left-click it and de-select "automatic placement" for that one sticking in the inspector and then copy-paste it across a measure and change the hands if I need so they are all static and do not move anymore.
good morning eric! basically for the sticking that are in the measure, just choose that sticking, and where you see x and y, change the y so that it would be below the measure.
In terms of sticking with Musescore, I've always used the Lyric method. If you press L while a note's selected you can put in a 'Lyric' for that note, so instead of words just use L & R for sticking. Space to move to next note, arrow keys to move back and forth.
The part you said to guess what price was from the solo was a remake of the drum solo too land of make believe by stevie wonder I think and I know this because I did it for jazz band at my middle school last year
Am I the only one absolutely amazed that he can even read sheet music this fast like I struggle sigh reading on the flute and this is infinitely harder. I don't even know what to say-

I wish I could have commented it first, yes you are completely right

The theme sounds like the invincibility star from Mario Kart

I love how he constantly switches between "good job, me" to "what the heck, me?" and back. I can definitely relate to that.
21:35 he broke the spock rim
I was lookin for this comment

oh god! NOOOOO! (every quad drummer's nightmare)

Still hasn't gotten his replacement rims from Xymox 😔
