I actually love the 5th wheel layout. I would be more interested in ordering direct from the dealer with some minor changes to the design. I would personally have the jailhouse bunk removed allowing for the additional headroom in the second bedroom. I would remove the stairs allowing for the bathroom to be a little larger. I would also move the shower against the master bedroom wall and place a larger cabinet next to the toilet. I would remove the bedroom fireplace and make the dresser 6 full size drawers.

Forest River used to make a Fifth Wheel Sandpaper and Sierra that wasnt a toy hauler but had a deck. We had one of each. I absolutely loved my deck. The deck also came with a surround that zipped on the awning and it made a room with zippered windows. You could use it when it rained or lots of bugs. I would have bought a 3rd but they stopped making them. The Sandpiper actually had a better cold weather package. At least it was a hardier bottom and of course both had the heated underbelly.

I currently have a 2019 Vanleigh Vilano and wanted a new 5th wheel. I was really sold on this unit until I saw one in person. I couldn't believe how crappy the build was. While the initial observation upon entering was favorable, once I inspected the construction and trim I could not believe what a let down this coach was. To me, it was all show and no go. The door fronts look great but, open the drawer and you see the amateurish, cheap construction of the actual drawer. The sides are just butt-ended to the front and back panels. While the sides appear to be some sort of wood, the front and back are just plywood. I could have made better drawers when I was in high school. Then, in the kitchen (and in this video) you see what appears to be tile behind the stove. Guess what? It is wallpaper. They didn't even take the time, or little money, to put fake or real tiles. Just paper that will look like crap after a few wipes with a wet sponge.
I actually had money down on this coach as I really liked the back deck option. As soon as I saw the build, I took my money back and looked elsewhere. While I might seem to be nit-picking some stuff, understand this coach retails for $150,000.00. For that kind of money, I expect a quality, high-end build; this is not that coach.
I just returned from a week-long trip on my current Vanleigh (unfortunately they are no longer going to make 5th wheels). My 5-year-old coach smoked this one in every way.
The only coach I am considering now is the Brinckley Model Z. This new company has seemed to really nail a fresh-looking new take on a 5th wheel. But, alas since they are so new, there are really none to look at.
Thanks for taking the time to make your videos. I have watched them all, even before you went out on your own. All the best to you and your wife.

Thankyou for your information on the build/appliance and product quality of this 5th wheel. It looked like a realy good option for my family of 4, for full timing.
But, when you are making a purchase like this, to live in full time with a family. you want good quality for safety and long lasting.

    • @jibbygonewrong2458
      @jibbygonewrong2458 Год назад

This is common with most 5th wheel and TT brands. That's why they're somewhat affordable compared to a house. The backsplash is rarely ever tile in any of them bc you have to consider weight. The materials used are usually less sturdy to keep the weight down, which is really important. You may want to consider the nicer RVs then. Those will be double the price.

    • @switz11
      @switz11 Год назад +5

@@jibbygonewrong2458 I disagree with your statement. I have owned many RV's in my life from a diesel pusher to a small trailer and currently have a 5th wheel. Understand this 5th wheel has an MSRP of $150,000.00. It has such poor construction it is a joke. My Vanleigh cost me $69,000 at an RV show. Guess what, it has tile backsplashes and drawers that actually look like a cabinet shop made them. Not the crap this 5th was trying to sell.

Absolutely LOVEEE the bedroom set up and all the storage options. The stairs to the loft are especially nice with the age/size of children that would be using the loft area (ladders are hard for adults!). The kitchen offers a lot of upgrades (I'm looking at you dishwasher!!), but I'm also concerned about that stove area lighting like Myles is, good catch on that one! Plenty of overhead storage in the living room and the sliding glass door to the patio is awesome! Love the patio on a non-toy hauler! Great video McCall's!! 👍🏻

I currently full time in this coach, 17 months so far. It is absolutely horrible. The construction of the unit is cheap and falls apart, the on demand hot water heater sucks and half the time doesn’t work properly and it is way over priced. The only reason I haven’t traded it in is because I am so negative on the unit I can’t afford to get rid of it.. the patio is decent though, light weight construction so it bows in the middle when you walk out on it. Sadly, I highly do NOT recommend this unit to anyone.

I would also change the design of the bunk room. Change the cabinet layout to include a desk and add ceiling mounted cabinets above the sofa. Removing the upper bunk. I would also request additional shelves for the pantry and make them adjustable. Another thing that I did in a previous unit is cut the floor from the laundry shoot allowing the dirty clothes to drop into a laundry basket in the basement. We preferred to omit the washer/dryer and keep the closet space. We typically stay at resorts or parks that provide washer/dryers. We loved keeping the dirty clothes in the basement with a bag containing all of the laundry products. I would take your suggestion and change the light about the beds in both rooms and the dining table.

I love everything this RV offers. Disappointed they didn't wrap the floors in the pass thru storage bay. Let's all the heat/cold filter up thru the floors. Probably could be done after purchase but would be a pain with all the wiring & pipes in the way.

Before anyone spends the BIG money on a brand new trailer, I highly recommend that they look into a "vintage" all aluminum travel trailer and a full size van to tow it with.
From the late 1940s, clear through to the early 2000s, many manufacturers built their units with either a full steel or aluminum ladder frame, aluminum square tube house framing and all aluminum skin.
The interiors really don't mean too much, because if you're ready to spend $100,000 plus on a new RV, you should be just as ready to spend $25,000 restoring a $5,000 trailer.
You can pretty much do what you like with the interior.
I've even seen a few people that have had slide outs custom built in their vintage trailers!
Then again, to each their own...

I wish these campers with the leash latch would have 2 and they would be separated by at least 6 to 8 feet, because I have two dogs and need 2 leash latches. I need them to be apart so they can’t get tangled. Would take out the couch below the bunk (but keep the bunk) and make that our dog space because all our kids grown so no need for that couch but bunk for a grandkid would be nice. Other than that I don’t think there’s anything I would change on that camper it is amazing 😊

The only down fall to this RV is that it only has one drawer in the kitchen. As nice as the dishwasher is I'd rather not have that and have more drawers

Some cool features. Dont like the bunk hiuse door that has to be closed to access fridge (not good for mom to see kids playing). Was expecting 2 true bedrooms, not a bedroom with bunkhouse.
The length of the rig with the patio down wint dit into most sights. Wonder how dark it is with it closed?

I love the look of this and can totally see myself in it, however there doesn’t seem to be a linen closet for the bathroom. There’s lots to like and the hard part is deciding whether the decor is enough to forego some of the other things I’d expect. I’m curious about the alcohol, wine glasses and small appliances when driving. If they need to be put away, you would just need to consider that in making sure you leave enough room for them in the pantry :-)

For the mid bunk the door should be where the pantry is. The mid bunk needs a window for the bunk and the length of the bunk should be included.

I don’t think you’d use the food in the bedroom, but living, yes. This needs more lighting everywhere, dimmable. It is pretty but carries little weight. I could live in it but I wouldn’t know how to pull it and would not want to pull it.

I wondering....would/could Brinkley R.V. build a 5th Wheeler exactly like this this *_FloorPlan,_* .... *BUT* with all of Brinkley's awesome features-like...
    • Their full seamless rool out windows_
    • Magnetic window shades/bug screens_
    • Pull down silverware/knifes drawers-
    • Pull-out under cabinet dog dishes-
    • Their drawer with paper towels holder-
    • Their 2-🗑️🗑️rollout-
    • Their cutting board over the🗑️-
    • Pull-out Pantry-
    • Pull-out cabinet (like the pantry in the kitchen) in bathroom-
Come to think about, there are really to many amenities that comes with the *_Brinkley Brand_* to name them..
