Watching your content for some time now, and I'm truly impressed with this one. The creativity, the design (overall and the 3d modeling). THIS is your best work yet
Dude! Your creativity and ingenuity are epic. Love the project. I want to call out the EDITING in this and your other videos! It's great. It's a huge inspiration to me for my own upcoming channel (2023 resolution). Thanks a bunch and keep doing what you do.
I love it! This is definitely something that would be nice in a game room! I also think it would have been fun to make it in a pair! I would definitely purchase something similar.
The sound sensitive mode is impressive! It actually looks great in your shop. Here's an idea: It can be an illuminated progress bar to 250k subs (followed by your next milestone..) and you could probably program it to actually fetch data in real time.. How come the power supply is so big? Is it because it offers multiple 5V out?
Yo your content is great! Your woodworking videos initially caught my attention but the more creative projects like this are what will keep me checking back on your channel long term. Keep up the good work!
Very cool lamp! The time put in is definitely worth it and it's something I'd be proud of. I'd swap out the controller for an ESP32 running WLED as the effects, including sound reactive, are nuts. I've built three strips so far. If you build more you can sync them up. Remember you can solder the strips directly together at the cut points to keep the spacing. Love your channel!
I started watching this Sunday morning here is the problem......I'm not watching ANYTHING you do half awake because I ENJOY your work. Here are a few things I wanna share.....I was a CNC machinist, subtractive manufacturing, I did a little 3-d printing......additive manufacturing......what you're making, did you notice that the base was tight? That's because no matter what is made you always have to machine parts for a correct fit. I'm not sure in metric but your base is probably +/-.010 or close to a sixteenth of an inch which is why it was tight. Did you also notice you had to cut something out on the inside?? Always my line of work comes after making it. Next time you make a base ring on that like your 3-D printer make the base diameter 1.587 metric which is about 1/16 of an inch bigger and it will fit better HOWEVER I freaking LOVE your builds and my watching your channel WILL NOT STOP
You are not "in over your head". All the successful inventors, engineers, and scientists do what you do. We love watching you do this. And always with a smile. Love your hair, btw. And understand Eden's concerns, so looks fabulous in your workroom.
i did not expect it to look like that it actually looks so awesome and satisfying! atleast without the possibility of being blinded because of the camera 😅
I love it! I agree that it's probably not going to work in most folks living rooms, but it would be great in a game room or man cave. Great idea, Morley!
You look much more at home with the 3D printing projects mate, so much more creativity and awesome here than another YT chopping board ;) Fits awesome in the office, top stuff.
Dude this is incredible! IDEA: if you could decrease the wavelength/frequency of the light patterns in the lamp I think the the effect would be even better and more well received by others. Please let me know if it’s something you can do! Would love to see the difference
Try just setting it to a solid orange. Something dim and calm, orange light is the best light for your eyes and it creates a comfortable environment. I used orange LEDs along my ceiling and i love it.
That thing is super cool mate!! You put a tonne of work into it and i think you have succeeded. Really really cool!! Congrats. Was looking forward to seeing what you came up with and this didn`t disappoint!
13:11 I usually put heat shrink on these before i solder them.. Best part of your videos are watching you deal with failures.. You make em funny which i thoroughly enjoy!! Keep up the great content!!
Really cool lamp 👍 I've got a bunch of old blank CDs I bought a long time ago. I was looking to recycle them, but this gives me another alternative for a future project. I've just got to learn how to do some smaller electrical work.
As you described the idea of the project, I immediately remembered the LinusTechTips video (Extreme Tech Office Makeover - LMG Decorates Linus' Office Pt. 1 timestamp 5:50), where they tried the exact same thing.
A bit like a Tesla coil with the upwards movement! While you were building, I was thinking of like a mixed medium with wood... like a solid wood pole about a meter tall, followed by about 1/3 meter of stacked CDs and each CD is separated by a thin slice of wood so light can come through, then a wood thick wood top.
It reminds me of the lights on a jukebox. The bubble tubes. Or a lava lamp. I think it is marvelous. The space between the CDs is perfect. Just another example of a project that would have been nearly impossible without your custom printed pieces. How would you source spacers? What would they cost? The base is brilliant. Imagination made Real.
I think yonlu nailed it with what could come of that many CD's. Our kids have something similar for their rooms called a Govee Lyra. Enjoy the content as always!
Bro someone would pay you $800 at least for this thing. Wow. My dad just made a blinding wallpaper in our garage by gluing the free trial AOL cds together.... this video plugged into my nostalgia. Highly recommend people follow his content
For anyone making this, the power supply should connect to both the Sp107E and the led strip itself - preferably to both ends of the strip to minimize voltage drop through the strip. The SP107E can not handle all of the current for that dense 5v LED strip passing through it.
First I love it, 3 ideas, maybe change it so it's 2 lamps, next 3d print of a blank black cd shape with a tab attached that has a hole to slide down and give support and last since it black pipe you could add a small speaker on top, while music plays the light responses. Great job
This is definitely a one of a kind thing, while simple, it looks pretty good, wonder if it's possible for version 2.0 to have something crazy like 360° LEDs
Cool project man, but definitely work on that soldering, get the proper tips/tools, looked like definitely cold joints on the first attempt, and even the second. Don't rely just on flux core solder, use flux as well. Reach out to me if you need anything regarding soldering. Enjoy the videos man, keep going!
~~Awesome~~ Totally awesome light...I really like it... I'd like to have one like it for my gaming room. Your talented and you have a great imagination. 🙂👍❤️
Me too. Not sure if i like this. 😄 But that project will fuel future ones. Although I might add, if I had a workshop or my space that would definitely fit right in. With my Lcd display key holders and Old tv turned into faux window. Like casey's shop. Things he makes wouldnt be nice in a living room but his workshop is a museum.
Wow! Ok, first let me say that I’m one of your newest subscribers (as of last night). Despite what she thinks, I think that that light is BAD ASS! Well done my friend! Also, if it doesn’t sell, I think it looks great standing behind you like it was at the end of the video. I know that you’re on the road now, but once you get back off the road you should def have it in the background of your editing room. I’d buy it but I’m one of your more broke busted ass subscribers. Keep up the good work! Greg in OKC.
PLEASE NEVER EVER connect loose wires to a powersupply like that. That creates high resistances which can cause FIRES at 20A! Use some crimp connectors and save your house!
On the bright side at least he soldered the high amp connections to the power supply to lower the resistance. Idk if he meant to do that but it’s better than nothing. I agree with a crimp though, but I think for not being an electrician he did a pretty good job. Also did he say it was 20 amps? I assumed it would be 2 amps or so since it wasn’t a high powered project.
@@gavinshaffer6220 To be honest soldering a screw connection is way worse than bare copper. Solder has the potential to cold flow and increase the resistance this way. 20 Amp is very plausible, those addressable LEDs take a lot of power. Connection anything but a proper terminal to such a power supply is absolute malpractice and can and has lead to fires... Even if the voltage is low at 5 Volts, 20 A is a lot of current.
@@BigManko I have some very similar LEDs to these and they run 2.5 amps. These might be different at higher power but I don’t know to be honest. And some types of solder are made for higher currents, if they are higher currents. I’m not a professional when it comes to soldering specifically, I’ve don’t more welding to be honest, so chances are you’re more correct on that part. I am also from the US so I don’t know what amperage comes out of his wall, but my house does 15, which is a little bit less. It also looked like he soldered more on the outside of the contact, and left the actual copper plate untouched, meaning the soldering is more just to keep the wire tightly in place (which obviously isn’t usually needed because the screw does it just fine, as seen by how you wire up a house reciprocal).
Quickly patent the IP on this - The Sensory Room for learning difficulties would buy this for sure, especially if you get the price right. Also The amount of wonder of a young child's imagination on this light show would be worth seeing and quantifying the results.
That’s an insane lamp! Kudos on the idea and execution! What a great way to recycle CDs. After the kitty got on screen, I stopped paying attention to what you were saying 😝
ngl as someone who loves music and art, im a little sad that most of the music on these cds is probably lost forever now, and i would have loved to listen to every track, find my favorite ones and essentially have a completely unique playlist to bring on car trips and the like, but what you make with them is just as much art as they themselves were and it turned out pretty cool so
It would be great for a bar, or disco environment. Or even a electronic store.
Amazing piece of art, one of a kind 👌
Thank you so much!
honestly! I think that retro bars would pay top dollar for this
@@Hdtjdjbszh exactly
For sure!
The most impressive part of this project is your patience to unwrap, disassemble, and stack 1,000 CDs. I'd have lost my mind after like 100 lol
When I first saw the stack of Cd's I was like "what is this guy doing?", but after seeing the results I'm pretty impressed. You truly are talented
What a nice project. You did a really good job!
Your positive energy makes the whole think more enjoyable. Keep it up!
Thank you so much!
Watching your content for some time now, and I'm truly impressed with this one. The creativity, the design (overall and the 3d modeling). THIS is your best work yet
Bro where do u get these ideas from
Transmissions from Jupiter, I think.
Transmissions from RUclips Kids ruclips.net/video/mfBlO4vlrzE/видео.html

I hope that man who gave those CD's away kept digital or physical backups of them, its pretty sweet
I love it! This is definitely something that would be nice in a game room! I also think it would have been fun to make it in a pair! I would definitely purchase something similar.

I love it! I would totally put it in my math classroom, the kids would be psyched. It's a fierce light though, totally see Eden's perspective
This could easily be classed as art and you could charge a fortune for it. Great work pal you are a genius 👍
Watching you build this light was so much fun and then the comedy at the end was icing on the cake😂🤣😂. Great job!!!
i absolutely love the results. It's not something i would put anywhere, except where you ended up with it. I absolutely love it.
I just discovered ur channel a few days ago and I’m already hooked
this looks so good i love the way it turned out ! was exited to see what you would come up with from that day you posted the teaser ! good work!
This is pretty cool. Definitely fits much better in the second space.
Great video. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

the jewel cases are also resellable. I'm always looking for jewel cases in good condition to replace my old worn out ones.

Oh wow, I did not know what to expect from this project but it turned out amazing! Such a cool idea!
The fabrication on this was top notch. Love it in your office.
I truly think yall are underestimating this. This would be in tons of dorm rooms, streamer rooms, etc.
Sound sensitive mode is awesome!!!!

You should add another cap on the top to make it more symmetrical and hang it horizontally. Very cool!
i did not think you were going to get the reflective quality from the CDS. it is a great build.
Have to admit that I totally dig the end project!! Great idea and execution!!
That thing is super cool mate!! You put a tonne of work into it and i think you have succeeded. Really really cool!! Congrats. Was looking forward to seeing what you came up with and this didn`t disappoint!
That was really cool.
One thing you could have done was shred the cases and turn that into the filament for the base - and for the clear spacers
13:11 I usually put heat shrink on these before i solder them.. Best part of your videos are watching you deal with failures.. You make em funny which i thoroughly enjoy!! Keep up the great content!!

If you have anymore CDs you cold build an Infinity Mirror Table with CDs lining the walls to give the effect of a never ending hole filled with CDs
This explains all the addressable led questions 🤣🤣
Haha yep! Would love to integrate them into more projects, they are so cool.
This is something spencer from icarly would build and I mean that in the most COMPLEMENTARY way possible, like I love it
I think it looks great in your shop as a practical background light! Nice job!
A bit like a Tesla coil with the upwards movement! I knew I needed to like it. But soon as she said anything abt the office even if it didn’t make sense. I then knew RUclips needs a super like button
I fucking absolutely love that light. Amazing. I would love one of those.
Thank you so much!
Stellar problem-solving skills. Brilliant concept and execution, Morley! 😀❤👌🏽
Very cool MK, thank you very much for recycling 🙏👍🌎
You could also consider putting a translucent sheet around it all to diffuse the light in a softer manner
That is an epic light!
For anyone making this, the power supply should connect to both the Sp107E and the led strip itself - preferably to both ends of the strip to minimize voltage drop through the strip. The SP107E can not handle all of the current for that dense 5v LED strip passing through it.
Star Wars fans would love this! Looks like a light saber.
That lamp is awesome.

Quite the imagination, many option. I like it. It does look better in your office.
Very nice project! Maybe a shorter version, fitting on top of a sidetable, might be a good idea. Greetings from 🇧🇷
Bro you are the goat of diy. You should start trademarking your designs. That light is very unique
U deserve more views bro I love that light

~~Awesome~~
Totally awesome light...I really like it... I'd like to have one like it for my gaming room.
Your talented and you have a great imagination.
🙂👍❤️
I like it!!! Especially the sound sensitive. It's like a fabulous light bar from the 70's.👍
Try it with music.
I would put this in my house. It's so freaking cool.
Spilt it in half and replicate the base. Add a 3D printed cap to it as well. Put next to your speakers 😀

Man! thats very Cool! Im sure you will get offers on it as well as future requests!
Incredible. You have a great creative mind ❤ I like it.
I love "the office" analogy
I really like it.. so nice and unique. Great job bud.
This is the best idea I have seen yet. I would like one of these for the man cave
This is cool! I guess the only issue is that if one of the lights burns out, you can't replace it because you've glued all of the discs together.
That's Just stunning! 😍
Love from India 🇮🇳♥️
