I think you forgot to talk about his Back MP, Back HP target combo which is one of his best target combos for gathering charge and canceling into super.
@getoveryourself2212 You just hold back, press medium punch, then hard punch. Because you're holding back, it's very easy to cancel into sonic boom, or his level 1 and level 3 supers.
a fun combo for Guile is my bread & butter MP > cMP > cMP > (D.R.) > cHK > cfHK > summersault > OD summersault / level 1 super fun af for minor rushing if anything DR > cMK > fMP > (other combo above^^)
Since you also need to charge in modern, classic is better yes, you gain nothing out of modern beside one button supers, also you lose lots of normals in modern

Just do 5MP, 2MP xx [2]8HK xx lvl3 for clean hit. 5MP, 2MP > 2MP xx [2]8HK xx lvl3 doesnt fail because of range but because target combo launches you from ground and you dont get clean hit. Also 1(5MP > 4HP xx [2]8HK), 2(5MP, 2MP > 2MP xx [2]8HK) and 3(5MP, 2MP xx [2]8HK) all does same damage. Combo 2 is worst because you cant get clean lvl3 and scaling ruins it if combo is any longer than those hits. Combo 1 is good if not going for lvl 3 and it also works after heavy button drive rush 5HK and thats most damage if not going for lvl3. Also 5MP > 4HP is good for lvl 1 super. Combo 3 is best for going lvl3 because it will give you clean hit lvl3.
