Really informative! I didn’t know that this existed.

This sort of welder is exactly what I’ve been looking for! How do you deal with the PTFE tube being wider than 1.75mm though? Would the filament not just expand filling up the entire PTFE tube?

Good question. I am using PTFE tube with tighter tolerance similar to Capricorn. After I heat it up really good I hold both ends of filament and move them together, in the same direction, left and right. If you pull or don’t move both ends, they’ll separate instead of fusing (ask me how I know, ha). I developed a ‘feel’ for when the ends in the tube had melted enough to fuse, shift the filament back-forth a few times, and then push it through as seen in the video. If you leave it melted in the tube to cool it would expand to the size of the PTFE tube. So the trick is to not leave it in to cool, and move it back-forth to smooth it out while it’s still hot/warm.
