In my Church (Salvation Army) the Funeral is a Service of Celebration and Joy, as the Deceased has received his/hers final promotion up the Ranks, the "Promotion to Glory" to be with God in Eternity. As sad as it may be at the Moment for Family and Friends, it's seen as just a temporary Separation until we'll follow later on.

I'm half Irish born in England, my dad was from Lucan just outside Dublim, and I grew up to the poetry and joy of Irish music.
The Chieftans, the Dubliners and the Pogues were ingrained into our souls as children, and it defined a lot of what it meant to be Irish and what it meant to be part of this unique and special nation Shane McGowan was a true literary genius, poet, musician
And one of Irelands most beloved favourite sons..
He may have left us far too early but he still managed to create something so special itt will always be remembered for the rest of time.

There are not many Songs making me cry, especially on Christmas. Fairytale of New York is such a Song. For me this is the pure Irish feeling and always a reason to enjoy the time. Sadly both Singers are gone now but because of this great and famous song we will always remember in this time of the year! Thank you so much for this treasure!!!

My Nans favorite Christmas Song and was from Dublin. Whe she died during Covid and her family came over from Dublin it was so similar. The Irish celebrate life like no others. RIP Shane. ❤️
