Shane MacGowans death along with Sinead O’Connor has rocked me more than any other. Is it their struggles, is it purely that they’re Irish and I have an infinity with the people. I’m Australian. Maybe it’s my Celtic heritage roots.
I think everyone who loved McGowan are feeling the same way. He epitomised all that is wonderful of being a proud irish person and the Irish diaspora around the world are feeling the pain of grief right now. Be proud of that, because those roots run deep. I was at his funeral and it was amazing like the first time I saw the Pogues in 1988. RIP McGowan, u rocked my world from that time to now

It's the most darkly humored track on the album, you're just after going through an onslaught of death in O'Malley's Bar, almost an hour of songs about horrific deaths and you're supposed to think it's not the end?

I love that Nick Cave sang this on a very positive note, it is very uplifting and comforting... even for me, despite the fact that I used to listen to this over and over years ago when I had lot of suicidal thoughts - an I wasalways an atheist, there is nothing for me after death. I love this song.

You'd have to be a big fan of Dylan, so big that you listened to 1988's "Down in the Groove," said by Rolling Stone magazine to be Dylan's worst album. This cover was made in 1996. Nick Cave did a great job recasting the original. With the help of musicians he respected, he turned a good song into a masterpiece.
