The band really missed Liam's tambourines. I always wished Noel booted Liam earlier and most of Oasis with him. The only person who could actually play live was Noel. They were so bad, Noel had to hire studio musicians to record the album. Once Liam's voice gave out in the mid 90s, he was useless as well.

This was such a sad moment for Oasis. Noel deserved waaay more credit for performing so lovely, on last minute notice. I honestly believe Liam got cold feet - he isn't as confident as he likes to lead on....Noel has said that he was literally dying on stage....like, he wanted to die, he was so upset. Oasis could have been equally as big in the USA and it wasn't for Noel's lack of effort and determination...there were other "forces" at play that prevented that from happening.....

I reckon Liam intentionally self-sabotaged his own performance here, the magic in his voice comes from pushing it until it hits gravel, for that it needs to be loud, put simply he knew he'd sound wet trying to do those songs anything but full throttle and probably knew it the minute everyone started tickling 'unpluggedly' around him so conjured up some imaginary dissatisfation as an excuse to bow out and save face, this is probably why he sat at the back to get an idea how loud it actually was and being satisfied he wouldn't stand out as much a sore thumb as he initially thought he decides to retake his place, longterm legend is way more than any one performance for these guys, you do what you have to to navigate both, in this case L knew N had it default covered, knowing that like only a brother does allows L to be L, to be unfair is to say (should my ideas be anywhere near truth) this gig exposed L's limits as a singer, Kurt could pull it off, even singing softly he'd carry that appealing rasp, but to be fair (or even affording too much credit) this was a well dodged bullet, it caused a kerfuffle that we're still talking about it if not for the 'right reasons' - the crowd got a show the were happy with and Liam got to rockstar on artistically unstained

For everyone saying liam is a legend or liam is a clown, this was not about going all rock n roll bad boy; Noel said in an interview that after the gig Liam admitted he didn’t feel confident about singing in acoustic. He should have said it before committing to do the unplugged, but I guess Noel and everyone would have pushed him to do it anyway, so he decided to drink and act careless. Yes he may just seem cocky sometimes but it was not all about that...
Songwriter singing his songs, they way it was meant to be. One of the best unplugged concerts, it's too bad drugs and arrogance dulled the creative spark of Oasis after this. Noel Gallagher has really come into his own now though, he sounds better than ever.
It's perfectly clear that Liam was nervous, insecure and scared of the US performances, especially the unplugged concert where his voice can't hide behind electric guitars. He knew how big a step it would be to breakout in America, like the Beatles at the Ed Sulivan show. Unable to cope with the pressure because he was a man child at the time, He lashes out to everyone and tries to sabotage the concert. What made things worse was how amazing Noel stepping up for his short comings turned out. That probably multiplied his insecurity a hundred times over.

When I was 15-21 I worshipped Liam. I then grew up and realised that Noel is the man. He can also still sing in 2017...

Songwriter singing his songs, they way it was meant to be. One of the best unplugged concerts, it's too bad drugs and arrogance dulled the creative spark of Oasis after this. Noel Gallagher has really come into his own now though, he sounds better than ever.
Unbelievably there is people who prefer Liam and think he would of made it without Noel 😂😂😂
They needed each other at least in the early years. Noel would have been pretty good as a solo artist back then for sure though.
No wonder Noel got pissed off with it all.

It's perfectly clear that Liam was nervous, insecure and scared of the US performances, especially the unplugged concert where his voice can't hide behind electric guitars. He knew how big a step it would be to breakout in America, like the Beatles at the Ed Sulivan show. Unable to cope with the pressure because he was a man child at the time, He lashes out to everyone and tries to sabotage the concert. What made things worse was how amazing Noel stepping up for his short comings turned out. That probably multiplied his insecurity a hundred times over.
It's a pity. Would have loved to see his performance at this time of his career. Ach well
