I had a small room air conditioner installed in my sewing room for those hot days. My sewing room is in a room over the garage, so it gets hotter than the rest of the house. I am so glad to see you back on the air. Stay well.
Welcome back, Sara! I live in AZ, so it gets VERY hot here. I stay cool in the summer by keeping myself hydrated and not going outside unless I absolutely have to go somewhere. I am a teacher, so during the summer I stay at home and sew, watch shows I didn't get to see on Netflix, and do things I have been meaning to get done when I work.
Great tips! So good to see you back and relaxed. It doesn't get outrageously hot here all the time but that just means we all melt and whine a lot when the really hot weather does hit. We have elders in our household, so we spend the hottest days sitting under fans and drinking iced water. Good chance to get caught up on the book list and videos. We enjoyed hearing about the Clydesdales. They used to be around quite a bit in this area, but hearing you talk about it made me realize it has been several years since I have seen them. Magnificent animals.
I stay cool by staying home with the air conditioning. Loved the blouse you were wearing, by the way. Also, the smile you were wearing made you look even more beautiful. Welcome back - you were missed!
Aloha Sara... Oh my... this is the second time I've learned about attaching yet another form of pocket to any project... You're a gem and an angel... blessings to you, Danny, and the kids... * * * Until that time. . .
We...myself and my 9yr old go to the library at least once a week to participate in the reading program. He is also a beginning sewer so I have convinced him to come with me to do a little shop hopping for the area closest to us. It's been fun!
With a loss of power and A/C due to storms and downed trees in the Joliet IL area last week, we set up a fan on shaded patio and attached misters on it! (bucket of water, water pump attached to car battery) It worked and was sooooo refreshing in this Chicago heat wave. We now use it all the time and can enjoy being outside even in the heat!
Welcome back Sara and Danny! We stay cool either hanging out in the house watching a movie or if it's too hot to cook, we go out to our favorite Chinese place to eat.
Always hot and humid in the South but started in early June this year. Cranking up the AC, hanging out in my basement sewing room. Eating cold salads, fruits. Not using the oven as much. I have the Viking tool that I have used on jeans. Works well. Used it on a custom bag I made for my featherweight case when I sewed squared corners. Good show last night. Thanks for all you do for us!
To stay cool I wear as little as possible, move as little as possible and sit in the garden with my crochet to catch the breeze if there is one, great to see you back and looking refreshed after your break 🤗😍😘
Pretty much stay inside with the ac, and when it starts to feel warm inside I go out with my dogs for a few minutes - when I come back in I really relish the cooler air. So glad to see you back - we all need to take a break and regroup at times because stress (especially what we put on ourselves) can make us sick.
Hi every body here is Aude from France. Nice to see you Sara you look much better. We had a very warm weather those last weeks here in the south of France ans I spent a lot of time in my sewing studio where I hanged a wet muslin curtain at my door with a ventilator behind, if you keep the curtain wet it's quite efficient. Have a nice summer everyone.
My husband likes the AC kept very low so I actually have to step outside and read or stitch for a bit to warm up. LOL I'm glad to see you back -- and I *love* that pouch! I must sew that....
Bag lady from Virginia. Please keep the newsletter coming. I had the date on my calendar but I almost forgot about it until you reminded me when you sent the newsletter. We are usually in the high 90's and it is not unusual to have a spell in the low 100's all summer. I stay in the house and usually get some sewing done.
Welcome back Sara, nice to see you again. I live in Colorado Springs, and we've had somewhat mild temperatures, we have a day in the 90's, but we also have very low humidity, so it doesn't feel as hot as when I lived in Florida. And we usually have a really nice breeze in the evening.
To stay cool during this summer I am lucky enough to have a house that has a wrap around porch so In the mornings I can still sit outside and watch the hummingbirds and hang out in the ac in the afternoons!
So good to see you again, Sara. We just had A/C installed last week and are so looking forward to being cool in this hot old house. Last year we went to a lot of movies and I did little or no cooking as my kitchen was too hot for me to cook. See you later in the month.
Lovely to see you again! Your break let me catch up with your previous videos not seen yet! As for when it's hot....I live in Scotland UK, so hot is not often, we tend to sit out!! No AC in houses here. I grew up in Toronto, Canada so our hot summers we retreated to the cool basement, or take off to the nearest shopping mall!!
I am glad you are doing well, you look great. I am in Missouri so we get lovely humidity. When we have things to do outside, we will start early in the morning. When I am working I use a cooling towel, such a Mission, and it helps a lot when I wrap it around my neck or on my head. Drink lots of water and my husband, who sweats and works in a factory, also drinks gatorade for electrolytes. If we can we stay out of the heat, when we can't these are a few things we do to stay safe and cooler.
So glad to see you back and looking well. Don't have AC except in my car so cool things down at night with window fan then closing the cool in during the day.
So happy to hear you've had quality time for yourself and your family! Triple digit heat is the norm for Las Vegas, so definitely retreat indoors with lots of air conditioning, movies, sewing and catching up on tasks that were not done while the weather was nice. 😏😎
I'm so glad you're back, you were so missed! Keep taking care of yourself for as you know if we don't take care of ourself first then we can't take care of anyone else. I know in my world that's not an easy thing for me to do, but necessary. For me to stay cool I get in my cool comfy clothes (not for the general public to see) and sew in air conditioning. Thank you for sharing your special gift of sewing with all of us.😍
I am soooo glad to see you back! I have really missed your shows! You look great and well rested. When it is so hot, I usually stay in where the AC is running all the time. I can ‘play’ in my sewing room downstairs and turn the thermostat down, down, down. I also have one of those cloths that can be wet, wrung out, and snapped. After it is snapped, it gets cold quickly. I can put it around my neck when I go outside.
Hi Sara. It is so good to see you again. I have missed your shows. Praying for your continued health and well-being. Looking forward to your future shows. I live in Katy, TX (a suburb of Houston) and ac in the house is a must!!! :) We had a weekend when ac was down... miserable... but we got through it and were so happy when ac repairman came to fix our ailing ac...Have a great week!!!
Staying cool in California is an art form all its own it gets so hot here. This summer I've been in lots of dresses, using the A/C and of course getting wet in the pool! Hope you're staying cool and have agreat block party next Saturday! beki
Welcome back Sara. We will never forget you! Great show today. I only have to face being too hot for a few days in the year living in London UK so I stay in doors sewing and my sewing room is on the cool side of my flat so not too bad. I have made luggage tags with vinyl and toothbrush bags and pouches with popper fasteners. Excited about the new patterns but take it easy and relax plenty. 💕
Hello Sara I live in Port Stanley ON Canada. We have a heat wave right now and stay cool with A/C. I get comfy in my tank top and shorts with a tall smoothie and hang out with my two shihzu furkids that are my supervisors as I sew . I am a newbie bag lady and love your tutorials . I have just purchased your park sling bag pattern.💗
Running from A/C to A/C. I’m in AZ so this is the season I hibernate. To keep cool I only do errands in the early morning. And get in the pool in the early evening. I’m so excited about your new pouch. My niece requested a pouch that she described just like this one. Thanks Sara!!!
I loved the newsletter. It helps in planning my afternoons/evenings. Plus, I can watch the show later or the next day. Many thanks Sara and welcome back!!
Hi Sara, I wasn't able to stay the entire time Sunday but I watched this today. It was so good to see you again. I lam so glad you did this tutorial on the vinyl window. Definitely helpful, even though I live in the UK and I'm now watching it on a Monday, it was good to get the reminder. Your eyes are twinkly again, which is lovely to see. E x
I have a Viking and seems to take the thicker seams very well, the Viking come with a similar tool but I've only ever used it for fixing my husbands jeans, just take them slowly and keep my hands both front and back to have it smoothly.
I love your newsletters. I also get notifications from RUclips on my email. I am so happy to see you back. You look terrific! I hope you’re feeling the same way. Utah has had unusually cool weather until a week or so ago. We left for Washington State about that time so I haven’t had to endure hot weather yet.
Welcome back, Sara! The newsletter got me on track for watching again. Thank you. I stay cool by walking at the mall on days it's too hot to walk outside.
Hi Sara. So glad your back, you look sooo good!!! I stay cool by first having a cool bath, wear something light n airy then just sit calm and watch videos , take a walk with the kids, or drive to somewhere calm and fun.

Glad to see you live again, you always have so much useful information to pass on.. I stay in when it's hot outside, and catch up on my RUclips, and sew.
