I was 10 years old when this first came out. I knew nothing of it of course. Now looking back I find it fascinating and, well, cool.

Just heard Louis Jordan’s version. I wanted to know how wrote the song. So one thing leads me to another and here I am.

I met Bobby Troup and Julie London in early 1970 just before leaving for the war in Vietnam. Bobby taught me this song and I still sing it today. This version was recorded at the Duplex in NYC's Greenwich Village ruclips.net/video/D7HC4x1MQMs/видео.htmlsi=lxlGko4QfwownglK

She's cute. But the way she handles the cutlery would get her fired in my restaurant.
