The australian speaker tells us that this is a good video from the good old days when Discovery was the real documentary TV-channel! Nowadays unwatchable crap TV , fake documentare like Storage wars, God diggers😡 RUclips is the savier for us who look for quality documentary videos. Love it!🙏
That is one of the perks of working with the producer that actually made those documentaries, and was also the same person that kickstarted "Wings" and many other channels at the time. People are often not aware that the producer actually owned those videos, and not the TV channels that merely licensed them for a few years. We are trying to work with the producer (he is in his 80s) to try and get the 16mm films and the original Betacam tapes digitized, but it is a longer process than one might think. At least this way his documentaries will live for decades if not centuries. By the way, he is a fine connoisseur of aviation history, and among his treasures he has entire archives of AVRO, or Miles film history, mostly never seen before.
That also includes the first turbojet (April 1937), which was given to the U.S. in 1941, becoming the first turbojet engine to fly on U.S. soil in 1942 (Bell+General Electric).
