If this performance doesn’t convince you to see Mdou live…can’t believe how lucky I was to see him last year at a small pub in regional Australia, 100-200 people there. The energy was insane, he had everyone dancing, and closed his set out with this song - sometimes leaving the stage to shred in amongst the crowd. One of the best gigs of my life for sure. 🤘
I guessed it the first time I saw this video. Now I can't wait the moment I will see Mdou in real. I know he will be in Paris in august, actually going there is the main goal of my life.
just watched it and bought the tickets...
Today I learned that Mdou Moctar is the singers name. I thought that was a band name.
ppp
ppllp
You can almost feel Jimi Hendrix smiling from the heavens as he savors the groove.
Dude I thought exactly the same when I saw them live
Lefties rule!
Saw these guys last night in Indy! I was blown away…..and I am 70 years old….saw all the biggies back in the late 60’s early 70’s.
My guitar is looking at me with disappointment now
Lol !
my hands look at me with disappointment, too
My drum too
Dont show this to your guitar then...
Mine too 😂
These 4 were put on this planet to make music together. No doubt. The rhythm guitarist doesn't get nearly enough love, that dude is doing some HEAVY lifting. I've noticed that the bass player finds a lot of super creative grooves and he sits in the pocket beautifully, but he isn't really providing harmony the way we're used to hearing bass players do in typical rock bands.. Which is actually a really cool thing, because it opens up this lane for the rhythm guitarist to really take the reigns and give all of the melodic flourishes that we're hearing some thunder.. some harmonic depth.. It's really interesting, because he's basically doing what we hear bass players do in rock music.. except he's doing it on rhythm guitar. So on top of being that centerpiece for the harmony, he's also providing some punk rock-esque textures. Man I'm so into this right now, this is LEGIT. so glad this was recommended.
I can’t stop watching this vid. He is the reincarnation of Hendrix
Found this on RUclips. Can’t go back to classic rock.
This drummer is crazy! Absolutely incredible musicianship from all of them
Agree 100% Amazing
touareg not amazigh
@@bsmarwa1712امازيغ ونفتخر انا افهم لغتهم جيدا
@@bsmarwa1712touaregs speak tamachekt means tamazight . fuck arab from here
The way he transitions from shuffle to straight forward drumming (the drummer) and stays perfectly on beat for the whole tune is godlike.
Even though life is hard and unfair. These are the moments I'm glad I keep breathing. To live at a time where I can access music and hear everything from ancient music to the most modern all over the world and then these gems I cherish. Amazing sound work it's just mind blowing.
Watched this guy solo for 20 minutes straight. Best guitarist I’ve seen, probably
Mansur brown is good too
yesss
The african hendrix. Not much to say, one of the best guitarists alive rn
This has a way faster tempo than the album, I was not prepared!
They also play Tala Tannam faster and I love that too. Both versions are great
Jimi of the deserts!
My 1st time listening to mdou moctar...cant find suitable word to describe this..🤘🤘🤘🤘
that drummer has PACE
What do u mean by that?
@@eall5630 really fast, very fit,
Wish he had a tempo as well, lol
@@leastofyourconcerns4615 Uhmmm, the changes in tempo is a good thing. Emotions > Regular Tempo
@@leastofyourconcerns4615 You seriously think he was speeding up unintentionally?
Can't stop listening to these guys for their energy radiating from the songs
One of those special moments in music where a group of world class musicians come together and are all perfectly in sync, making amazing music. I won't be forgetting these guys anytime soon.
i appreciate the bass player wearing vans
Are you serious right now!! That sounds amazing and refreshing. Guys bring the noise.
Sounds like guitar center
They opened for tame impala a couple years back and it was amazing
Fuck yeah
@@cody3335 Post a video of you doing better. If not, you have to go pick up trash on the side of the road in Ukraine.
This is what I call a tight band. I wish only success for them. Thanks for the great music!
Gentleman, you are making a mark in history.
Drummer is best of best
I’ve never seen anyone play guitar like that before! It’s incredible and playful at the same time.
African version of a Highway Star by Deep Purple. Classy and brilliant.
Wow, this dude shreds. They don't even need to sing.
Holy shit. I've listened to this album on Spotify but seeing him play and at that tempo blew my mind.
Guitar god. We’re not worthy!
Man, I heard much talking about him but wasnt expecting it to be so good. Feels like a mix of early Santana with Hank Marvin in a modern Hendrix way.
Everyone talking about the lead guitar and drummer ... I'm more impressed by rhythm guitarist, strumming that fast is very hard to do.
They have had lot of routine gigs so it sharpens the technique. And loosens your wrist. Great comping!
the drummer hits diffrent, game on fire
Right?!?! I just watched this video five times in a row trying to figure out how the drummer makes it all work.
i like how much this version makes shine every member. still, i cant help but to have a preference for mdou, god bless the day he first touched a guitar.
I swear, every live version of this song I see, they play faster! I'm loving them all though!
The Tuareg are part of the Amazigh, each language is its own. We speak Amazigh and they speak the Tamasheq language. The northern half of Africa are all Amazigh, my friend, but on our television channels we do not watch it.
That is a fantastic guitarist. Of course as he is a fellow left-handed guitarist I'm biased. More seriously, that whole band is superb.
The whole world needs to hear this!!!
The guitar tapping stuff was on another level. Amazing guitar player.
I saw this guy in real life. Shy but talented.
It was an awesome experience seeing him live with tame impala
@@RobRamirez456 for me it was during the Jack White's show
The change at 6:30 is out of this world! Great musicians.
TheBass....
Afrique Victime indeed. I pray for your safety my friend.
that lead guitarists tone is perfect
Gives me so much first Deep Purple but in a refreshing and genuine way...and boy the drummer is madness!
After this session Mdou slid right into my #1 favorite living guitar player right above Marc Ribot. 🤘🏼
More folks need to put Marc Ribot near the top of their lists.
They're playin' together in d'Addario extended play in 2022.
Seeable on You Tube.
Goosebumps. This band kills it every time.
Saw these legends at aint no picnic. Mudway through their set, the crowd quadrupled in size
Ска...., как он играет, этот Чувак , просто от Бога...!🤘👍💪
Lead Guitar: Marcus Rashford
Rhythm Guitar: Ordinary Arabian Dude
Bassist: John Mayer
Drummer: Sadio Mane
What a band!
The 2nd guitar reminds me of Esquelette from Nacho Libre lol
This version is FANTASTIC !!!!!!!❤
A little over a year ago or so I stumbled on the videos from the previous KEXP performance and I was amazed. I looked them up and they just happened to be performing close to my house a few weeks later. Seeing them live did not disappoint.
Magnifique
One of the best guitarist in the world 🎉❤️❤️👌👌
Saw these dudes live and it was amazing. Never seen a man play a guitar like that. Like a man possessed
Just love the energy pulsing from this...
I need this tour with like, Goat or something.
Это мжно смотреть и слышать Бесконечно..🙏👍
Mind blowing
Saw the Thing performance from up close after they did this "in-studio" on site, and watching Mdou and his band work from a few feet away was a joy I will remember for as long as I remember stuff. See them up close for a below-average ticket price while you can!
So Jimmy Hendrix is back, i knew i would hear you again in this actual life.
the bass was incredibly good. love this kind of music
You know when you re beyond imagination!
I saw him open for tame impala and he was amazing
Tame Impala should open for them.
I totally agree with you, I’ve yet to see another guitarist like jimi Hendrix that has the same energy and creativity until I came across these guys. The stuff they make is amazing
Awesome ... the Led Zep of the Sahara 😀
Eh Led Zeppelin’s got nothing on these guys
In a world that glorifies derivative if not boring guitarists like John Mayer and Tim Henson, these guys bring something unique, energetic and fun.
Mdou Moctar is easily my favorite to come out of this sahara rock scene. That being said, all art is derivative in nature. Don't mistake you not being familiar with their inspirations as them being wholly unique and original. There's a saying in certain art circles, "Originality is the practice of hiding your influences", and what is more hidden than an entire world of music we straight up don't get in the west
You may like Khruangbin as well. Another great innovative band.
This comment is so out of touch lol
@@ayanleman great comment
These guys know how to make music
Can't stop listening this, its so amazinggggg, this guys are in another level 🔥🔥🔥
This is incredible. Really love these guys. The band is killing it with great originality and passion. Would love to see what this would be like with a Tele. When he goes to the bridge pickup, the Strat just falls over and sounds weak. You can see him turn every knob up to try and get the level back up and then has to bend over to turn up the pedal. If it was a Tele, it would be like unleashing a caged pit bull.
I did notice him bending over to adjust the pedal after he turned it on and noticed it wasn’t enough.
BUT to counter your tele argument, the bridge pickup was used the entire time and it sounded great when it was clean.
So maybe he just needs an extra boost pedal or adjust his fuzz(?) pedal to give it a lil more oomph than normal
This man needs an humbucker.
Speechless 😶
Mdou Moctar the best 😍
Afrique victime 😞
My friend Mdou
I heard it on the album but first time I’ve seen the opening drum full live 😮 was positive it was synth and probably is a mix ok the album but WOW
I don't know how the audience wasn't absolutely losing it at the end
Greetings to you from Johannesburg South Africa
Souleymane went off!! Fantastic performance all around.
This is power!
Gracias y felicitaciones por tan hermosa música. Mdou sigue así tu expresividad con la guitarra llega directo al corazón
WoooaaOoo Jendrix nunca murio....dolo reencarno en Africa...😮
These guya use so many styles hard to pin point.. This song I hear Santana, others like the Byrds, doors.. Very hard to pin point.. They just sound FRESH..
Amazing energy....👍👍👍
