You don't want 4 low--you want low tire pressure and if you can get moving keep moving with wheel speed. This has nothing to do with him being in 4 high--because he wasn't even in 4wd. its because he had full PSI and was in 2wd. 4 low only when you need that low gearing. I run in the sand and the best combo is low tire pressure and rear locker on in 4-high.

You’re right about the low tire pressure but I had to check you on the 2wd comment. I rewatched and he was clearly in 4wd. Front wheels were clearly spinning. Because you were right about him not deflating first.

My Taco never gets stuck on 4H and full air.

When on sand and soft sand. Put it in 4HI and air tires down to 18 to 20psi.

60k truck with ranch hand bumpers and a back rack and doesn't know what locking hubs are or that his truck has them. Also love seeing people having so much trouble with 20-24in rims. It's beautiful.

Everyone tells different opinions about 4L or 4H on sands. 4H is to serve slippery road purpose and 4L is when you need the traction to craw and go over objects. So on soft sand, air down tires is a great help for your tires give wider contact areas to float instead of digging. You could drive it in 4H and rear lock as long as you keep the vehicle moving on sand not stop or stuck. If you stop on soft sand or already stuck; use 4L to get you out to hard sand area. If anyone says their 4x4 never had problem with 4H and full air is more likely they just never came to a complete stop on a really soft sand area before, or they got a special set of tires for mud and sand.

I had a 1980 Bronco with slightly larger all terrain tires , I needed 4 low in soft sand ,older vehicles had low horsepower compared to today trucks. My 2014 F150 eco boost with afe intake , exhaust and tune has plenty of power for 4 high , 18 psi and 33 inch KO2'S I have no problem in soft sand. This has been my experience only and by far I don't know everything but try to educate myself. Why don't people air down????? I have pulled several people out with no problems but I really don't like pulling people out that don't follow simple rules. AIR DOWN , you risk overheating your transmission or breaking something because some jackass will not air down and too cheap to buy a tire inflator. I have ran into this.
