You made mineralogy and petrology very interesting . BTW what's the name of the town on your introduction? Thanks...

Sorry for my delayed response. That is the town of Golden, Colorado, the home of the Colorado School of Mines.

Do you have a link to the notes presented at 7:20. I tried poking around Itunes, but couldn't find them. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Does porphyritic basalt indicate a certain area of a pluton, in relation to normal basalt?

    • @CVshorey

The edges and top of a pluton will be cooler and thus more able to start growing phenocrysts before eruption, but depending on conditions, the phenocrysts can be sourced throughout some plutons.

can you tell with electron microscope without mineral test for sure if a rock is not from mars knowing they have the same minerals as earth?

calvin brush A mass spectrometer would do you better. Isotopic differences are a key diagnostic.

I don't do geology over pictures. I suggest you contact your local geology museum or department.

Given its broad application, everyone should understand GEOLOGY - therefore this video has been indexed and a link added by DR-KNOW / iq-2k Information Services - roughly 650 videos have indexed for this series

    • @CVshorey

Don't think I can find what you're talking about. I keep getting most unique rock stars. But I can say, avoid using "most" with "unique". ;)
