    Nice job on the re-installation. I looked for more videos from you and you haven't posted any. I hope everything is going well for you. You seem like a pretty capable outboard mechanic.

    I just did this to mine the johnson/Suzuki website wanted 450$ for a new fuel pump. Its the same fuel pump that goes into a 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander I got it for 23$. Works perfect

    • @edugimeno

      Can you confirm it still works fine? I have my Johnson J70PL4SN grounded due to a faulty pump (same model, 5032617) and original part runs $480, which is outrageous. Similar product number parts and externally alike show up on many websites but at a fraction of the price and I'm afraid of getting something that's just junk. So your is fine?

      @@sOKkeR8491 thanks. I finally skipped the lowest price range and got a $80 with at least a brand and a decent boxing :). First run was good but summer will be when we fully test it. Anyway $480 is outrageous

Would you be able to point me in the direction of this video? I have a 115hp Suzuki and it would help me a lot learning these tricks and tips!

    I have a 2005 250 DF with 300 hours it. It will run wide open then stop, by stop, I mean like you turned the key. Pulling the throttle back and placing back forward, it takes off again. It will however run all day at 5000 rpm, but does the stall over that rpm range. Any ideas what would cause that? I have replaced everything besides the fuel pump itself. Does that sound lime a fuel pump, that can't keep up?

      Try putting on an external tank with new hose straight to the engine for a test run, I have seen this problem a lot with a collapsed fuel line.

    Will the electric pump continue to try and prime if you have the fuel rail bolt off? Or does it just turn on momentarily

    • @diyboatrepair8005
      @diyboatrepair8005  4 года назад

      I believe it will continue to run with the bolt out 90% sure. Not 100% though as I have never tried.

    What aftermarket pump did you buy, how is it holding up?

    • @diyboatrepair8005
      @diyboatrepair8005  4 года назад +1

      I only replaced it and sold the engine a few days later so I don’t know about how this particular one is holding up, but I used an FNF pump it ran about 60$ on eBay. I have put these same pumps on 2 different commercial fisherman’s outboards and haven’t see one fail over the past three years. So they seem to do well for the price point.

    Thank you for this video. I'm sure it will be helpful for my DF140. You mentioned another video for easily cleaning the fuel injextors. Can you direct me to that or explain the process of easily doing that? Also - I know it's a pain in the ass - but did you have to take everything apart again in order to get that fuel line properly seated ? The one you accedentally left off at the very end of this video? Thanks again. (From mistakes - we learn)

    • @diyboatrepair8005
      @diyboatrepair8005  4 года назад

      It took some “fanagleing” to get the hose that I had I forgotten to get back into place but I was able to. This engine actually ended up running smooth so I didn’t do the injector video as mentioned but will be posting one in the next week or so. I have a parts engine I can use to do that video. 🤙

      @@diyboatrepair8005 hello,
      My name is Bill.
      I have a Suzuki DF 50.
      I am getting a flow of oily gas from my exhaust gas hose at around 2000 rpm. It idles beautifully with no problem.
      I was hoping you could point me to the problem.
      The boat has been sitting awhile with little run time.
      I recently replaced all fuel.
      I am mechanically inclined to do job.

    • @diyboatrepair8005
      @diyboatrepair8005  4 года назад +1

      bill miller are you getting gas in the oil? Hard to see but will usually be over full and runny. I have seen the manual fuel pump on the back of the engine fail and allow fuel into the engine as the manual pump is a plunger pump run on the camshaft. Very simple non invasive repair if that is the problem. Hard to tell without seeing pictures. But the oil and fuel only come close to each other at that pump that I am personally aware of is there.
