The version of Minecraft that isn't a mobile port, that doesn't lag on singleplayer offline mode, that pauses the game when you pause, that doesn't have dozens of bugs. Perfection.
i found out that there is technically no true singleplayer on bedrock edition. instead its always multiplayer, even when you disable it in the settings.
This is incredibly Nostalgic, I remember playing the minigames with my friends when I was young and honestly I sometimes wish Minecraft stayed like that, it was so unique and perfect to play in my opinion.
You know you are getting old when your favorite childhood game version becomes a secret version of the game. Man I loved the ps4 edition playing with my friends on splitscreen, beating the game, stealing their stuff, I know it sounds cringe but I do miss those times and I think a lot of people will find this reletable. This game was and still is my childhood and I will play it even if people eventually start calling it a dead game.
This is also on xbox one. This was the initial launch for BOTH next gen consoles. Cannot lie it's a little crazy that you physically included a picture of the xbox one version and yet we're still too ignorant to check it.
Watched the full video! This really makes me miss 4Jstudios. Like you said, it really felt like they knew what they were doing when making the game. Unlike the current developers, 4J was prioritizing game quality and making the game enjoyable and memorable (through the dozens of tutorial worlds, new skin packs and new maps (with each of them feeling special and unique, unlike the current "AMONG US 3AM SPACESTATION" type of maps you find on Bedrock now")). 4J wanted to make the biggest and greatest fanbase and the best playable game possible. They made that their number one goal. Not selling minecoins or tokens on a store where you tend to get worse quallity then 5 years ago.
Honestly I play Legacy Console just because it’s easier, I can exit the game without saving (say if I die), and I won’t have to worry about my game crashing when I went to open a door immediately after closing a chest
@@Anonymouslikemydad agreed, I have older Minecraft PlayStation 4 edition, it become rare than new one, some people sell it Higher price, some people sell it cheap price… also there Nintendo switch Minecraft already I got
I hate legacy edition still, no good minigames, no crossplay, i was basically forced to play that horrible version of the game for years when my laptop broke. I hate seeing people pretend to the nostalgic for this pile of garbage its clearly stockholm syndrome.
Man, I absolutely cannot believe that there are people still learning about this. This is the only game I feel old enough to actually be an OG even though I only started playing xbox one edition. I remember when the game told me about "new minecraft" and I asked my dad to download it. I will miss you legacy mc, thanks for the memories.
The old PlayStation version actually paused the game when you pressed pause so you didn’t have to quit and reopen your world every time you left your tv. And pressing the right trigger on an item in your inventory would tell you what the item does. Food or Armor would tell you how much hunger or armor it gave you, it would tell you what potions do, and what different red stone blocks do. After years of playing this game I still find this useful.
@@Anonymouslikemydad yes you can pause in bedrock just go to your world settings then multiplayer settings or online settings don't remember what is its called because I don't have access to my pc right now than disable online that will make the world fully offline and you will be able to actually pause if you wanna play online than just enable it again
I remember as a kid exploring all the worlds that came along with the game and setting a super flat world to all tnt and watching my game drop 50 frames in 2 seconds and sitting in the mini game lobby for hours trying to find a way to get out. All the memories come back whenever I switch editions.
It's truly tragic to see the tutorial worlds not be continued on bedrock, they were nostalgic and creative, great way to introduce people to the game, it's mechanics, and even educate existing players on new updates features.
I think they didn't do it bc anyone who played on the old minecraft to bedrock would understand how to play plus yt is a thing to but idk could be wrong
@@TOXICYT2016 it still is nice to have tutorial worlds for both new players and players who may not have played in a whole who need to get a refresher of how features and mechanics work. It isn’t necessary but the tutorial world was very helpful
@@TOXICYT2016 RUclips was a thing back then too. There's theoretically no reason a tutorial world should exist, yet it was beautiful to include it. Now it's gone.
i thought more people knew about this? i still play the old playstation version to this day, both because it's nostalgic and because it's probably the best version of minecraft.
annoying how this version runs much better on Playstation than Bedrock does. Legacy's UI and menus should've been carried over to Bedrock bc they were actually meant for a controller.
@@JoeBro915 i think most of 4J's changes probably should have been ported to Java and Bedrock. better and more friendly superflat customization is an obvious one, Exit Without Saving, being able to trial texture packs, etc...
I’m literally about to cry, you’ve just unlocked so many memories for me. I really miss the old amplified terrain generation especially the savanna it became my favorite biome when it came out. And just seeing the old crafting menu is just wow it was so iconic. I also remember when I first played the elytra mini game and it was so hard for me to finish the race. If only I remembered when and I how I first started playing Minecraft. Thanks for showcasing this video
The mini games lobby hits hard, finding all the discs is so nostalgic, I would spend hours a day trying to find all of the discs but couldn’t. Truly nostalgic and makes me sad to think how fun it used to be.
I remember thinking Playstation was stubborn for not updating to Bedrock (when I was excited for Better Together). Turns out, they were making the better decision keeping this version alive for longer. I'm lucky to have played a ton on 360, and now I have both versions on Switch. That's good too because 1 portable, and 2 easy access to the best version and the version that my friends can play (they only have Bedrock/PC to play on not LCE)
I hate legacy edition still, no good minigames, no crossplay, i was basically forced to play that horrible version of the game for years when my laptop broke. I hate seeing people pretend to the nostalgic for this pile of garbage its clearly stockholm syndrome.
@@user-br7ry7cz5y If you're more used to Java Minecraft, I understand. Compared to Java, Console isn't the greatest, it's just that I (and many others) grew up with this version first, so it is special to us. @@user-br7ry7cz5y legacy console was worse than Java, sure, but besides crossplay, don't pretend like bedrock is an improvement. And the fact that you were "forced to play" it is on you lol
@@user-br7ry7cz5yWe aren’t pretending to be nostalgic. The console edition was really good but a lot of PS4 players, including me, wanted the Bedrock version to come to PS4 because of it having servers and crossplay. Only now I’ve realized that we should be careful for what we wish for because the game was a huge downgrade after the update. The game got buggier, less optimized, crashes and a much worse UI, the legacy console edition had the best UI imo. I also get why you’d think that we are pretending to be nostalgic, but we’re honestly not, we’re just disappointed.
Fun fact: if you own the physical edition that gives you the backwards edition feature, you can delete the game from your home screen and redownload the game with the disc, you can play an even older minecraft. Just don't update the game once downloaded. You even keep your worlds!
I used to play (and occasionally do) Minecraft on psvita. making small worlds with small biomes was my favourite thing to do. I would just fly to all corners of the world and build little things in each biome. the worlds felt so much more cozy. and I went onto the minigames last week and people are still playing the psvita minigames! I used to spend hours playing those, it's a shame they haven't ever brought them back into the main game
Happy to see someone else here! I just got a glide lobby today (Friday March 31st) around the afternoon. It's always great to see people popping in and out on a version so obscure :').
@@primozeroyt always been my favourite version, after I left this comment I sunk a few days into a survival world and got the furthest I've gotten in years. I feel so much more motivated
I played this on my PS4 many years back. I still remember playing the tutorial with my family, and how we would explore and create our own bases in the tutorial world. It was so special. The tutorials, the cities in particular, had this feeling similar to MC Story Mode (Rest in piece) of liveliness. I'd love to play this again
I remember playing the Xbox one version for hours and hours with my sisters, we even had this world where my younger sis was only allowed to build on stone, my older sis on grass and me on sand. It was weird but it was fun. We also played the hell outta all the mini games and mash up packs. Weirdly we could play them and save the worlds without buying the packs lol.
@@TreeFrogMC Yeah I still have 360, my friends don't play it anymore, but it's still really good for a console from 2005(well, I don't think mine is from 05, but still) Bedrock was just thrown together held by a single piece of tape
If you didn't know, it's possible to get the legacy PS4 edition still. In order to do this, as long as you load the original PlayStation 4 Edition disc, without updates, and create a world, when you run the new version, it will detect the save and allow you to play the legacy version. This means if you have a friend who owns this disc, you can create a world with it, buy the new version digitally or physically, and then get the old version included
The only reason I don't is lack of infinite worlds and how many more blocks there is in bedrock because of update difference, everything about the og version is better tho, it was back when a developer who actually cared about the fans updated the game 😹
I had this on my PS4.super nostalgic, I carried it over to a PS5 and now I can access both versions.I love that you could play demo versions of the maps, no micro transactions needed! Wish modern day bedrock had this feature. Also note: if you own this version and want to have modern-day updates, you simply just have to switch back to the current version. (It saves the world to my memory)
I really loved the option to transfer your old worlds to the newer versions. I still have my original PS3 world that i got all the trophies in, converted to PS4, and then to Bedrock. It's completely broken at this point, but it's nice to still have it.
Man, seeing legacy edition again is really nostalgic. I absolutely miss this version, and am really sad they got rid of it. I remember getting Minecraft for console after they got rid of this, and wondering where all the features went. The minigames, skins, and texture packs were all super cool.
TIP: if you have the disc version of Minecraft PS4 Edition, you can get the original launch version (before shields, coloured beds, etc.). You have to disinstall Minecraft and then disconnect your PS4 from the internet. Then, put the disc in and it will start “copying from disk” (because you will have no internet). When you load up Minecraft, it will be the first ever version that was available on PS4! I played it today and it was incredibly. The beds are all red, there are no shields and villages look so much different. The old textures of course. There isn’t the update acquatic either of course. It was incredible to play this version of Minecraft in 2023. PS. You can update it by just turning on your internet on PS4 again.
I remember seeing 2 different Minecraft games on Gamestop and I remember being SO confused as to what was the difference between the the "Minecraft" one and the "Minecraft Playstation Edition" one.
I switched over to Bedrock Edition back in 2019 and absolutely HATED it for so long. Years later, I'm pretty used to it, but videos like this remind me of just how much better we used to have it. There are only two things that Bedrock does better imo: 1. Infinite worlds 2. Crossplay That's literally it. I genuinely think the old Xbox 360/PS3 version was better in every other way.

i vividly remember this version as the best one. i was so confused when it switched to bedrock. i’m pretty sure it was the last version to make a tutorial world too
Sadly yes. And I was also confused when they migrated to the new Bedrock version. But at least I still have the Legacy Switch version, its just that no one plays it anymore. ;-;
@@Blaster-the-holobotSWITCH EDITION!!?? BRO THATS THE RAREST MINECRAFT VERSION IN HISTORY ITS VERY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IT UNLESS IF U HAVE JAILBREAKED SWITCH CONSOLE. NICE THAT U HAVE THAT VERSION IS IT DIGITAL OR PHYSICAL COPY? AND TAKE CARE OF IT .
I'd like to add for anyone wondering, if you have the digital copy and have access to editions, don't delete Minecraft from your console because the next time you re-download it it's 50/50 if it let's you play editions. I learned this the hard way and despite attempting to delete and re-downlad this many times I still don't have access to a game I paid for. I have now moved to PC and still miss Editions.
This is why I LOVE Legacy Edition. It means that I was a Minecraft veteran in terms of before bedrock edition, and I can SEVERELY tell that there's a LOT of changes that I noticed already. I still play ps4 and ps3, because bedrock edition, and... this is just so lovely and beautiful to talk about today, and it really brings me nostalgia... 💖
I cant believe people like bedrock it have a tons of bugs and no optimization and the most thing i hate of bedrock is that it doesnt feel like a console pc game is just a mobile port that doesnt even have a pause button BEDROCK SUCKS RETURN LEGACY
You guys notice that the shading in Legacy Edition was much clearer and cleaner than Bedrock Edition? I mean java edition has a somewhat similar vibe to the clean texture shading like the shadows between blocks or smth
@@supermito573 on console, the bedrock is waaaaay better, we are talking console, but in pc i didnt try but i think its java, but as someone who played console, the best versions are ps3 and ps4, i wanna try the other console versions but i dont have so much money
I remember playing this version of Minecraft with my sister and cousins. It will always be my favorite version of the game because of nostalgia and because of how the game is designed compared to all of the other versions.
I used to play Xbox 360 with my friends in 2016. I can’t believe how they made it seem like classic sized worlds were massive by simply lowering the render distance.
a fun fact is that this also works on Xbox One or Switch but for that you must've owned the game even sooner, as those two updated to Bedrock in 2018, in fact the Switch one is the hardest to come across since it neveer released physically and lasted about one year before being replaced by Bedrock, however if you bought the game back then then you'll be able to do so, although if you didn't in time you still have a couple more options to try it out, dust out your old PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U or PS Vita and if you got Minecraft on those you're good to go, if you don't, well they're less than $20 on the used market anyways, the PS3 one is between $10 and $15 in my country in fact, and if you don't own any of those consoles they're also cheap in the used market, the other option is that if you have a relatively not so necesarily powerful PC (let's say GTX 1050 or RX 460) then you can set RPCS3, Cemu or Vita2K and play them through emulation, I tried it on an old GTX 1050 laptop I had with RPCS3 and it ran pretty well, even if your PC is not powerful to emulate PS3, Wii U or PS Vita, Minecraft is pretty easy to emulate, though idk if it's that easy for the Wii U or PS Vita versions as I just tried with the PS3 one
Sure the autocrafting is better than what we have now but I love how they gave you the option of classic crafting if you wanted. As someone who played Minecraft on pc first it was just great because I was used to it. So it was nice to have those options
Additional things I miss from console/bedrock that I wish Java had: - Camera Leaning when you turn while gliding in the Elytra. - The colours of everything in 360/ps4. Looks way different than bedrock or Java but I can’t explain why. - Holding the jump button to go up while gliding with the elytra in creative mode.
6:16 This was actually the first Minecraft I've got (I still have it to this very day). I got it on Christmas 2019, so I guess I was lucky to get this one version right as it was going extinct. I visited the Editions menu out of curiosity, but didn't really think much of it. Can't believe how much content it has! I'm definitely going to look further into it next time.
The only sad thing is that even though you have this version, you can no longer get the older tutorial worlds (except for the first one, the one that comes in the disc) If you uninstall the game and open it without updating, it will give you access to the old legacy tutorial map, but you can't select updates before the latest one, which means that all of those tutorial maps are gone :(
they are not truly gone, since they are probably available somewhere for download on java.. still sad that we can't have them on the true console edition tho
I play exclusively in survival, but I recently loaded a super flat world and spent an hour trying to find a village. I remembered very clearly that there used to be structures on super flat. This video let me know that 1) I'm not crazy and 2) why things had changed. So thank you. Toycat is yes.
I just wish they included the different update versions, along with this version. Imagine playing the first tutorial from a version in 2012. The ability to have every version like Java edition would bring back so much nostalgia. There is also a fabric mod I use for Java called Accurate Block Placing or something like that, that removes the delay when holding the place button and also makes it so blocks aren't placed on top of other blocks when holding the place button.
You can still play this version on the PS4 and 5 even after December 2019, but only during the installation of Minecraft, and when it's finished, you can't play this version anymore.
i remember the original version, and i still have it. one of my worlds i've had since the Editions version of minecraft, and having updated it from ps3 to ps4, then to 1.15 has had some interesting results. i had the superflat world depth set insanely high, being a layer of bedrock, the max amount of dirt blocks, and another layer of grass. as a result of that, everything is really high up in the clouds and it feels as if the height limit is really low. it sucks, but it gives you a little sense of nostalgia.
I honestly wish 4j was the head of bedrock MC to this day. I like the new stuff and the ideas but old MC on PS was closer to Java (since it’s used the same code pattern as Java) then anything and I wish they kept it that way. I regret not liking the game 4j made, as it is to this day, imo a way better game to play. No stuttering, good optimization and well built for the console they each managed. It’s definitely less of a “Pocket Edition but on console“ and I miss it everyday. Edit: Hell even me and my friends played PS until it got outdated. No one in my friend group liked how Bedrock felt but was the only way to play on console- so we all switched eventually.
The block placement was the first thing I noticed after switching over to bedrock. It was so annoying because I'm the builder and none of my other friends noticed.
I remember the ps3 version, the earliest I remember playing is when you could still craft god apples, I think it is 1.14 in Java terms. I loved playing it I remember only able to play the limited world and being bummed that I couldn't go endless like the "computer version" but looking back it was so good, easy and simple.
As somebody who grew up playing the PlayStation 3 edition of Minecraft, I can definitely say: “oh my gosh, the nostalgia is super strong with everything here in this video!!!” I used to spend hours battling it out in that mini game with my cousins! Oh, how I miss my PS3…
If you still have your account you can play Minecraft on your ps3 but you may have to generate a new password since you can’t pick one yourself since the devs at Sony don’t work on the ps3 servers that much anymore
Have you ever heard of this little know version called "Java Edition"? Also known as just the normal and original version of Minecraft.... It has almost all the features in the video and way more
I remember owning PS4 edition since 2015 (On disk.), and when it was forcefully updated to bedrock, I never was given the "Editions" option... I literally didn't even know the option existed until watching this video.
I think u need the digital copy, since I had it even on my ps5 (not the ps5 edition) since I had it, sadly I used it once, then the next day it wasn’t there, so I’m not sure if it’s one use only
me to. I even have the disc, but it broke along the way (so I bought it digitally) and I can no longer play legacy, which sucks because I think Bedrock was an enormous downgrade that achieved very little, so much so if Mojang announced the end of Java their would be such a large uproar that Hytale and other games might even be successful.
as long as you have a old world you can use edition, with or without disk. To i also lost the edition button, to get it back you have to save the two saves with the cogs in the cloud save, then delete the ones on the ps4 and reinstall them from cloud. There are some videos out there which explain this a bit better so i recomend watching them
Me and my friend used to play on this version all the time. Sometimes we revisit this old version to look back at our old worlds that we played on. While it's very nostalgic for me, the newer version is so much better.
I don't blame the Bedrock team for how this stuff turned out. They're pushing Sisyphus' Boulder trying to play catch up with Java Edition, having to develop for 7 radically different systems at once and release each one on the same day as the new update on Java. Made worse by the fact that too major of a change could mess with all the Minecraft Store content. Even if they wanted to smooth out the experience for everyone, there's simply no time to do it, unless Minecraft feature updates just stop entirely for a few years. Despite all of this, I think players deserve to have the option to go back to the versions made specially for their consoles and their predecessors, no matter when they bought the game, in lieu of the ability to go back to specific updates (like Java players can do).
Not to mention, unless they just leave Mobile in a ditch to die (they probably should), they'll NEVER be able to implement off-hand. ...and not to mention Version Select too, among other things.
I mainly play on pc now, but I still occasionally boot up my ps4 and play this version of the game. The nostalgia is unreal. Especially all the OG official season corresponding maps. A whole christmas town, halloween amusement park, and a lot more.
This is the only version I play, and I still play a lot. I have a world that I started on PS3 that is now about 9 years old. I remember I was so excited when bedrock was coming out to be able to explore almost infinitely outward from what I had built. I even built half a city on the edge of my world and was going to build the other half in the new Bedrock area. Ultimately I was disappointed in the Bedrock version for a variety of reasons and went back to playing in my world on the Legacy Console Edition and focused on making the space I had as cool as I could. I have several villages and bases as well as a massive cave system I have been carving out spread throughout the world and have been connecting them all with a road network. Even though there are many things that have been added in updates that I would love to have (bees, ability to place frames for maps on the ground, nertherite armor, the new cave generation, etc.) I still prefer this version.
Hello! I played this version for a while, was really fun and I also really enjoyed how well the UI was and crafting menu. A tip if you do happen to play on the PS4 version for a longer period, is you can dim the light bar on the controller in the settings, and actually helps a bit in saving battery life.
The fact me and my sister had a version exactly like this but on Xbox, we'd play constantly but if I wanted to play by myself I wasn't allowed to because she owned the game and bought it herself. We had so many memories and loved the tutorial mode.
the best feature for me of the old console versions were the ability to leave without saving. if you die in a world you can just go back to the previous save by leaving without saving. im so upset they dont have this ability anymore.
This was a good feature but I understand why they removed it in favor of keep inventory (which disables trophies). Personally I don't care too much for that feature, I won't judge anyone for using it. What does suck about bedrock was everything mentioned in the video, the fact the game doesn't pause and PS3 edition ran better is a joke.
I was really sad when the legacy version for ps4 got discontinued. I still listen to the minigame soundtracks as it reminds me of all the hours I spent with my friends and family on glide, battle, and sometimes tumble. About 2 weeks ago I started using my ps vita for the first time in years, and noticed the minigames on the 1.12 equivalent of the game. It sucks how many dlc maps and texture packs I lost when they updated to bedrock, but this video reminded me of all those times spent with friends on this version.
As a person that bought Minecraft in 2018,playing this version makes me almost cry,i remember doing minigames with my brother and having alot of fun,the tutorial is also a really nostalgic thing
Glad Toycat is still discussing just how great this version of Minecraft was, it was truly amazing to watch this game evolve over the years and 4J did such a wonderful job :) I will say though unfortunately for a lot of veterans players, their "Editions" button to switch versions has disappeared with seemingly no fix
man i miss being able to play that version, i played the version for almost 8 years on ps3, then moved to ps4 in 2020, finding out i wasnt gonna be able to play battle mode or glide or tumble ever again broke my heart, it has been 9 years and 11 months now since ive started playing minecraft, and this has to be my favorite version, i wish they would allow the button to everyone or at least people who had ir on ps3, because that is incredibly unfair, not being able to play my childhood game
You know, I always complained because the console edition were always behind in updates but hearing about how inconvenient the new editions are make me miss the old version. Might have to hop on Minecraft again and switch to this one
@@samuel-wankenobi Oh it was 100% M$. Think about it, M$ HATES competition from itself. They knew Bedrock would never out perform Legacy Console, so they removed legacy console edition as an option.
When they switched console edition to bedrock I was sad... Been playing since 2013, and when I saw the editions button, I got so nostalgic. I'm happy we're still able to go to that version; its so nostalgic and memorial for me. Me and my friends come over to my house and play survival, minigames like battle, tumble and glide, its not quite the old days but its awesome. I will never forget Legacy Console Edition
There’s also a simple version like this on switch. If you bought Minecraft before the update, when they made new Minecraft it would let you install the new version as a separate application. Mini games are surprisingly still active on there too.
I've personally done a little bit of pretty much all of what you shown in this video and it is really intriguing how the menus change from platform to platform even if it is the same game version
Minigames are also included in Minecraft PS3 Edition, Xbox 360 Edition and Xbox One. These versions are called Legacy Console versions. The thing with these is that while playing you have the feeling like the devs actually cared about the game. (Quote Author: 販売機)
The ps4 mini games was one of my favorite things to play, I still played it for years after they updated it to bedrock all the way up until my ps4 stopped working. I’m truly sad that they never implemented some of these features that were exclusive to this version.
Fun fact: the guys who made this PlayStation 4 version are also the same guys who remade Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie to the Xbox 360 in 2007 and 2008. Over half of their library is just Minecraft ports, if you can believe that.
This version is very nostalgic to me. The very first world i made before bedrock edition released for the ps4 had a woodland mansion nearby and the memories i made were beautiful.
I genuinely didn't realize this was defunct. This was my only version of Minecraft for years. I had my friends over and we'd try to beat the races in the 4 player split screen like it was Mario Kart. That flying race would be AWESOME with the wind charges now. My friend and I broke the ocean beyond the playable map in an infinitely repeating crater by filling the map with boats and goats (or some animal) and detonating TNT. Then the game updated and it fixed and we could never do it again. I wish I remembered what version it was. It's so hard to search through the classic console version history. I miss being able to disable the day/night cycle or temporarily turn off fire spreads or mob griefing from the pause menu. Just little quality of life things that made it easy and fun to build big contraptions without it being a massive pain. And then when you were done you could just switch everything back on again and play normally. I also LOVE how in sync the block place speed is to your flying speed in creative. I was so sad when I couldn't build as fast as I was used to on Java with an xbox controller because I went to all the effort to download a mod just to allow the controller to work and it was't even a good experience.
I'm so glad someone appreciates this. Every time I stopped playing Minecraft and came back everything changed and I felt like I had to relearn Minecraft. The Minecraft tutorials and crafting menus in the legacy editions kept me playing Minecraft for a long time. But now we have bees and phantoms and micro transactions yeah
@@uliedaboutthesoup5798 Had it for ages bought digitally, the only way now is to get the older version on disc, with Steve in diamond armour on the cover.
You have this version, when you had bought the old minecraft. I have this version, because I'm playing now 8 years. This version give me nostalgie vibes ❤️🥺
YYEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!! Finally some recognition for the version of minecraft I played and still think is the optimal version out of every version! It definitely would be if it wasn't no longer updated! I've been with this version since it came out, and never looked back since! For me it was the home of probably the greatest soundtracks out of all of minecraft, beautiful texture packs, some wonderful pre built worlds to explore, and a good building system. You take for granted all of the little things that add up to something great in the game until you're forced to bedrock edition. Ice mechanics when flying, building pillars is the worst, the ui is terrible and so is navigation, why are you so slow, and I don't want an infinite sized world when I'm only gonna build in this one spot. The list goes on and on of things that were a total downgrade, and why can't your bought texture packs transfer? Same with the skin packs, of which a lot are missing. I wish bedrock had the same polish as console, you knew everything was going to be exceptional, and a glitch you found, even visual, would be fixed within a few months. Now its just a thing on the shelf, gathering dust, and bedrock just doesn't feel good at all. Also my own minor complaint, why is it that the music on bedrock is so much quieter than console, despite them both being at max volume automatically? Please change that Mojang, I'd like to hear and enjoy the new music ingame and not be forced to go to youtube.
This is the Minecraft I am most familiar with. The only difference being that I had bought a used copy at a GameStop and didn’t have a PSN account yet, so the version was even more outdated that not even horses were implemented in the game yet. All my worlds have fortunately saved and I can play them all in the most modern version but honestly I still much rather decide to play on this one as it’s more convenient and feels more humble/warm(?) It’s difficult to describe but I just know I consider this one much better despite not having as much features.
I love that you can actually get the edition screen on newer bedrock games. I don’t remember how, but there’s some fiddling you can do to be able to play the mini games and explore the maps.
For the longest time, the only version of minecraft I had was a legacy console edition. Specifically, Xbox 360 edition, and we didn't have our xbox connected to the internet so it was just the features from the base version of the game without later updates - when I got bedrock I was so excited to test out all of the "new" features like . . . jungles. Yeah, jungles, *those* were new to me. But I still have fond memories of TU1, and of especially its tutorial world. I've wanted for a long time to recreate the tutorial world in bedrock, but it's so hard to find a version to cross-reference. I'm eventually gonna try to boot up my xbox 360 and see if I can use that as reference, but I think the disc might have gotten scratched unfortunately
I actually still play the old version sometimes for old times sake. Sad to see how the once full battle games people would host is no longer as full anymore. Had a lot of great memories playing the mini games and old worlds.
I bought Minecraft at it's physical release date for the PS3 for the first time. And oh boy, I miss having the tutorial world to this date on PC. I would also love to have a feature to play with the worldgen and maybe even limit the Worldsize, it would make the game way more calm for me.
the block placing is the same on bedrock, not java tho, but other than that this vid was spot on, i used to play the xbox 360 legacy version, and i remember finding ur channel all that time ago, along with stampy, cuz u were the only ppl i could find that did regular uploads on the version i play
The version of Minecraft that isn't a mobile port, that doesn't lag on singleplayer offline mode, that pauses the game when you pause, that doesn't have dozens of bugs. Perfection.
Offline lag drives me crazy. At a point I thought the game was crashing.

Nobody truly forgets all of the minecraft console editions they're all amazing
a fun fact is that this also works on Xbox One or Switch but for that you must've owned the game even sooner, as those two updated to Bedrock in 2018, in fact the Switch one is the hardest to come across since it neveer released physically and lasted about one year before being replaced by Bedrock, however if you bought the game back then then you'll be able to do so, although if you didn't in time you still have a couple more options to try it out, dust out your old PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U or PS Vita and if you got Minecraft on those you're good to go, if you don't, well they're less than $20 on the used market anyways, the PS3 one is between $10 and $15 in my country in fact, and if you don't own any of those consoles they're also cheap in the used market, the other option is that if you have a relatively not so necesarily powerful PC (let's say GTX 1050 or RX 460) then you can set RPCS3, Cemu or Vita2K and play them through emulation, I tried it on an old GTX 1050 laptop I had with RPCS3 and it ran pretty well, even if your PC is not powerful to emulate PS3, Wii U or PS Vita, Minecraft is pretty easy to emulate, though idk if it's that easy for the Wii U or PS Vita versions as I just tried with the PS3 one
Sure the autocrafting is better than what we have now but I love how they gave you the option of classic crafting if you wanted. As someone who played Minecraft on pc first it was just great because I was used to it. So it was nice to have those options
It felt awkward without those option crafting
Additional things I miss from console/bedrock that I wish Java had:
- Camera Leaning when you turn while gliding in the Elytra.
- The colours of everything in 360/ps4. Looks way different than bedrock or Java but I can’t explain why.
- Holding the jump button to go up while gliding with the elytra in creative mode.
The reason for the colors is because everyone turns on the gamma all the way to max which makes it look like it's being bleached
i’m guilty of this, but the graphics look weird because you put the gamma on 100. It looks more like java on something like 60

There are some videos out there which explain this a bit better so i recomend watching them
Yo guys no need for old desk I just deleted it then put the desk back it downloaded the legacy
Me and my friend used to play on this version all the time. Sometimes we revisit this old version to look back at our old worlds that we played on. While it's very nostalgic for me, the newer version is so much better.
Same
How do you get the old version back? The button doesn't appear for me
@@thazmania120 if you had the game before early December of 2019 it should be there, if not there’s no way to access it
@@Saurx Does it have to be a disc copy? I did buy Minecraft way before the switch to bedrock from the play store
@@thazmania120 I use a digital version of the game as well, so if it’s not there for you then I’m not to sure why.
They will also NEVER be able to actually optimize Bedrock edition either, kinda sad since its fun just very laggy (Even on PC)
@@higueraft571 they won't. The mobile market is where the majority of microtransactions and players are. That's where the money is.
I still have the OG disk on my ps4, Crazy how it still works
I have the OG disk but no editions button. Idk what to do to play this again other than deleting the software and playing it to the first version
ITS LIKE U R VERY FORCED TO PLAY FAIR AND NO CHEATING HERE AND THERE AND UR VERY FORCED TO QUIT & SAVE . MAAAN SCREW BEDROCK WHO EVEN EJOYS IT?
Omg same and I have some maps too 😭😭
As a person that bought Minecraft in 2018,playing this version makes me almost cry,i remember doing minigames with my brother and having alot of fun,the tutorial is also a really nostalgic thing
Seeing legacy console again makes me all warm inside. I wish bedrock could be as good as this. 4J Studios did such a great job.
Glad Toycat is still discussing just how great this version of Minecraft was, it was truly amazing to watch this game evolve over the years and 4J did such a wonderful job :)
I will say though unfortunately for a lot of veterans players, their "Editions" button to switch versions has disappeared with seemingly no fix
man i miss being able to play that version, i played the version for almost 8 years on ps3, then moved to ps4 in 2020, finding out i wasnt gonna be able to play battle mode or glide or tumble ever again broke my heart, it has been 9 years and 11 months now since ive started playing minecraft, and this has to be my favorite version, i wish they would allow the button to everyone or at least people who had ir on ps3, because that is incredibly unfair, not being able to play my childhood game
I grew up with Minecraft on the Wii U. So many memories...
This really is a trip down memory lane man I vividly remember all the fun I had with this legacy version when it was available
You know, I always complained because the console edition were always behind in updates but hearing about how inconvenient the new editions are make me miss the old version. Might have to hop on Minecraft again and switch to this one
This was also the only version of the console edition to be updated to 1.14
It still baffles me to this day how Mojang and microsoft decided to put the aquatic update on 360 edition AND NOT Xbox One edition as well.
@@megaman37456I think this was more of a problem with Microsoft and how they probably didn’t let them so people would go to the bedrock edition
@@samuel-wankenobi Oh it was 100% M$. Think about it, M$ HATES competition from itself. They knew Bedrock would never out perform Legacy Console, so they removed legacy console edition as an option.
Actually, also the ps3 and Xbox 360 edition had 1.14, the Xbox one edition is outdated (another thing that makes you switch)
@@jjroyale no the ps3 and Xbox 360 were last updated to 1.13
When they switched console edition to bedrock I was sad...
I think he already said thatp
I really miss the old tutorial worlds, they were all great, I'm not sure if there is a way to download them on bedrock but I would love to
Fun fact: the guys who made this PlayStation 4 version are also the same guys who remade Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie to the Xbox 360 in 2007 and 2008. Over half of their library is just Minecraft ports, if you can believe that.
Is that 4j?
@@thegrandatm1844 Yeah.
This version is very nostalgic to me. The very first world i made before bedrock edition released for the ps4 had a woodland mansion nearby and the memories i made were beautiful.
You still got the world?
What’s wrong with bees?
As a kid I loved playing mini games and playing the tutorial and loved all of the secrets you could find especially in the game lobby.
Really brings me back. I’m one of those people who really misses mini games. I go back quite a lot to replay them
And the custom Hunger Games servers were fun too.
How do you access the old edition? I had it show up earlier now the option for it is gone
@@uliedaboutthesoup5798 Had it for ages bought digitally, the only way now is to get the older version on disc, with Steve in diamond armour on the cover.
I miss them too, used to play them in split screen with my brother and cousins!
I have the old PS4 version and it’s so nostalgic playing the editions version, it’s really a treat to still have that option
This is the Minecraft I am most familiar with.
The only difference being that I had bought a used copy at a GameStop and didn’t have a PSN account yet, so the version was even more outdated that not even horses were implemented in the game yet.
All my worlds have fortunately saved and I can play them all in the most modern version but honestly I still much rather decide to play on this one as it’s more convenient and feels more humble/warm(?)
It’s difficult to describe but I just know I consider this one much better despite not having as much features.
lol i remember having un-updated 360 version and when I got the ps4 edition with online and stuff it was like another world
There's a whole community based around only playing beta 1.7.3 specifically like 100's of thousands
same
I love that you can actually get the edition screen on newer bedrock games. I don’t remember how, but there’s some fiddling you can do to be able to play the mini games and explore the maps.
I genuinely miss this version. I wish it wasn't removed.
I have very fond memories of playing this version on both Xbox 360 and ps4, good times😌
I used to play this when it was the actual version with my brother and best friend and a couple years ago it changed to “editions”
I actually still play the old version sometimes for old times sake. Sad to see how the once full battle games people would host is no longer as full anymore. Had a lot of great memories playing the mini games and old worlds.
Go, Harrison!! Loved the editing in this one.
I still remember the 360 edition, I recall playing 4 players local occasionally. Good times.
I bought Minecraft at it's physical release date for the PS3 for the first time. And oh boy, I miss having the tutorial world to this date on PC. I would also love to have a feature to play with the worldgen and maybe even limit the Worldsize, it would make the game way more calm for me.
I think they deleted the second option. 😢 I can’t find it anymore. All of our old worlds we played when we were young are gone now. 😩
i have SO MUCH nostalgia for this version, i remember playing those minigames hundreds of times and it was really fun!
I always loved booting into the new tutorial worlds. I’ve been playing as far back as the first Xbox 360 version. It was great.
Legacy Consoles were really THAT good
They were!!!
the block placing is the same on bedrock, not java tho, but other than that this vid was spot on, i used to play the xbox 360 legacy version, and i remember finding ur channel all that time ago, along with stampy, cuz u were the only ppl i could find that did regular uploads on the version i play
Love how ps4 mc still allows u to play the old mc.
Not everyone has that option and that’s why less people play ps4 edition than Xbox one edition
