I respect your freedom to have your opinion and to have your voice. Don’t let others hinder that because they don’t bite their tongue to tell you how they feel!! And as always ,great knowledge. Thank you
This can absolutely be effective. I could only floor press for weeks while we were on lock down (took two months for my power rack to ship to the house). When it got here, my bench hadn't gone down; it had actually gone up (315 for reps went from 8 to 10) and I can now bench 405 raw. This definitely works.
Talk about whatever you want, I've been watching since your early days and will continue to watch until you decide to stop. Never let anyone discourage you or silence your opinion. Personally I enjoy the variety it gives us a whole different Mark Bell. Love your channel keep educating us.
Smelly Bell dont say that we dont like you when you talk about other things. we love you even more with all those type of videos, we learn to know you better and your value of life. WE HAVE MUCH MORE TO LEARN FROM YOU. if you say that again we just dont deserve you and your knowledge, but please dont stop your video even tho we dont deserve it!
I found your Strong Sleeves are amazingly helpful with the floor press. One of my favorite exercises and the padding in the Strong sleeves protect my elbows.
Thanks mark, you are in my top 3 professionals in the fitness industry, the other being Stan Efferding and Matt Wenning. You guys all have the most useful info. I have learned so much about longevity and mobility as well as strength.
Love it. I only watch vids over 20min long other wise it's not worth the effort for me. This is perfect for me. Subject matter is classic and usful. Thanks for this awsomness
Great video thanks for sharing and being so thorough and don't let people tell you not to make videos so long or to talk as much as you do because everything you said was important and I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it and get help from your experience and knowledge.
such a great idea for a series mark people try to make one size fits all stuff for ig and no one benefits, this is just awesome and if you want a great floor press you will watch it all
THANK YOU! I had to use these at home and i also do dumbbell presses regularly (on a bench) and i never put all this together! I always wondered why I felt better with the db presses... and i was using my back MORE with them to get that explosiveness... but only sometimes using this on my bench.... i cant wait to get this going! WOOOOOHHOOOOO!
Great video on floor presses! I've been doing these for a while now because they are much easier on the old guy shoulders than regular bench presses. This video has great form tips, though I have to admit I do tap at the bottom instead of coming to a full stop (I'd have to lower the weight to do that).
Awesome video Thanks man. I'm slowly getting back into lifting heavy again now that I can learn how to do it with correct form without even leaving the house.
Plus - why don’t you have guys coming to train anymore. I’d love to have Maddox talk us through his technique the way Spoto did on here 4 years back. There is so much powerlifting talent around now. Why aren’t you making videos with Dan Bell, john hacck, Amanda Lawrence etc? You were really good at this because you analysed and engaged with those top lifters technically, and discussed what they were up to in an enlightening and informative way without all the bullshit that often goes with it.
Southern Fun Julius Maddox was breaking records longer than 4 months ago as have lots of other lifters. This channel was at its best when lifters came on and explained their process.
Covid conspiracies??? You mean the scamdemic where those under 70 have a 99.5% or greater rate of beating it even if they contract something that has yet to even be isolated. This is all from the CDC btw.
Time to start an extra channel. Call it Mark Bell: In My Smelly Opinion. You could talk about all the non lifting things you want there. I’d definitely watch.
I would enjoy a mark bell “history of strength” lots of pictures and maybe some video highlighting the careers of different strength athletes similar to what you did with Ed. They don’t need to be there, but getting their history their achievements and how they evolved the strength game and your perspective would add great depth to the history lesson. You’ve kinda done this on a few podcast
Ol' Mark Chaillet showed me this exercise way back 25 yrs ago. Great for getting the weight off the chest in an explosive manner. I had to do them in a cage like you are doing but I would use the back of the rack and lay inside it. I used the safety bars so the bar would as even with my chest as it could then get a lift off from a buddy. This exercise does help your bench. And you're so right you have to moan & groan just getting on the floor. LOL
Mark, Can the spoto press be used as a good alternative to the floor press. They both seem essentially alike except the spoto press your triceps and pecs and shoulders are still under more load....i said load lol. But what are your thoughts since u are the one and only man!!!!
You mentioned this as a meet prep exercise - are you using the floor press as your primary / sole 'bench' training for meet prep? If so, how many weeks out? Thanks
Listen you are more then just a lifter! I know the videos dont get as many views as ones like this but to me it is awesome seeing a more rounded channel and knowing that you are human. To me the same old same gets old and there is so much more to lifting then just technique.
I haven't been able to bench press is a while since I don't have a power rack or bench yet. for the time being I am still doing overhead press, floor press, pendlay rows, push-ups, & weighted push-ups. Is there anything else you would add to help keep my strong in this type of range of motion for when I can start benching again and hopefully I won't have lost all of my bench gains by then?
Could you do a partial bench press in a power rack instead with the same range of motion and the safety bars set in a way that the bar touches the safety bars and not your elbows touching the floor?? Would there be a big difference??
I’m going to be doing Alpha Destiny’s novice program and this is one of the exercises in it. I love the feel of the power I get from it. Crazy how much I could lift coming back after a year of not training with weights :)
I just bought a pair of strong sleeves and love them. I only have one little problem with them. I bought a size large since I have 14.5 inch biceps flexed but during training the sleeve tends to eat up the inside of my elbow where the seam is at and ends up looking like I have a rash. Is their anyway to fix that or do I bite the bullet and buy an size XL.
Mark what % of weight can you do in Floor Press vs Regular Bench? Is there somewhat of a general estimate of "If I can BP this much...I should Floor Press X amount"?
Who's lane is politics? Just politicians? I disagree, politics is life, everyone gets a vote, everyone gets a voice, every opinion matters, talk about what you want to talk about and whatever is on your mind!
Dr. Floor would be proud of this explanation, may he rest in peace.
I respect your freedom to have your opinion and to have your voice. Don’t let others hinder that because they don’t bite their tongue to tell you how they feel!! And as always ,great knowledge. Thank you

Do you think you could completely replace flat with floor? Flat hurts my shoulder so I'm curious if I ca just floor press
Keep these TMI vids coming!
I've got more coming
Talk about whatever you want, I've been watching since your early days and will continue to watch until you decide to stop. Never let anyone discourage you or silence your opinion. Personally I enjoy the variety it gives us a whole different Mark Bell. Love your channel keep educating us.
i miss doing floor press in the dirty floor of my local gym
Highschool gym vibes right there 💪
I seriously can’t believe that people like you, Matt Wenning, and Dave put out free content like this. Thank you!
The man actually made floor press interesting for thirty minutes.
I found your Strong Sleeves are amazingly helpful with the floor press. One of my favorite exercises and the padding in the Strong sleeves protect my elbows.
Unreal amounts of free knowledge. Mark, thank you. You're a blessing.
Thanks mark, you are in my top 3 professionals in the fitness industry, the other being Stan Efferding and Matt Wenning. You guys all have the most useful info. I have learned so much about longevity and mobility as well as strength.
This dude has knowledge. Tried a floor press for the first time today. It went well .I will try it for 2 months. Many thanks for the info.
Great explanation of the theory, purpose and execution of this movement. Thank you for the instruction Mark.
This guy explained this extremely well. Greatly appreciate this. Now I can finally get my Arnold body.
a ton of helpful information thank you
I've recently heard so much about floor press lately, I really gotta hop on this. Thank you for the explanation.
Love it. I only watch vids over 20min long other wise it's not worth the effort for me. This is perfect for me. Subject matter is classic and usful. Thanks for this awsomness
Glad it was helpful!
Great video thanks for sharing and being so thorough and don't let people tell you not to make videos so long or to talk as much as you do because everything you said was important and I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it and get help from your experience and knowledge.
My back is the same when I get down - sympathy for you Mark, and thanks for all the great advice through the years
Thank God ur back to teaching lifts
such a great idea for a series mark people try to make one size fits all stuff for ig and no one benefits, this is just awesome and if you want a great floor press you will watch it all

Smelly is the best. Great video.
Thank you
Agreed...!!! Floor pressing helped me gain arm strength which increased my bench. Luv the movement...
Was really hoping TMI was “The Mark Institute” haha
I like that idea
That getting down on the floor groans, I empathize with that all too much!
Great video on floor presses! I've been doing these for a while now because they are much easier on the old guy shoulders than regular bench presses. This video has great form tips, though I have to admit I do tap at the bottom instead of coming to a full stop (I'd have to lower the weight to do that).
Then lower the weight boomer
Awesome video
Thanks man.
I'm slowly getting back into lifting heavy again now that I can learn how to do it with correct form without even leaving the house.
Smelly had a quick sesh in the bathroom before recording this, look at those veins in his forearms
This is why I started watching this channel. I don’t give a toss about sleep, keto, trump, or Covid conspiracy theories. Keep this content coming.
Thanks

@@benmalloch well he had Chris duffin not too long ago who is the best for technique anyway
Covid conspiracies??? You mean the scamdemic where those under 70 have a 99.5% or greater rate of beating it even if they contract something that has yet to even be isolated. This is all from the CDC btw.
This is the quality content I come here for!

Excellent content, and that’s why your the people’s coach. Thank you
very helpful, thanks guys.
This is an awesome video. Looking forward to checking out any other tmi vids you’ve made/are going to make.
As always, great information....can't wait to try it . Thanks Mark
Super helpful, thank you for this video

Packed full of great instruction!
Many thanks for the video.
What if you only do Floor Press? (and not bench)
Legend! great vid , i learned a lot, thankyou Mark!
Thanks for teaching me this.!
If you reading this, have a good day and be safe. God bless you 🙏🏻
Thanks for watching
god bless you 💪🙏
Awesome TMI!
For what its worth, you have my vote for mixing up subject matter ❤

Do you think doing the floor press on a bench pad, like the Thompson fat pad, would be good as well?
I haven't been able to bench press is a while since I don't have a power rack or bench yet. for the time being I am still doing overhead press, floor press, pendlay rows, push-ups, & weighted push-ups. Is there anything else you would add to help keep my strong in this type of range of motion for when I can start benching again and hopefully I won't have lost all of my bench gains by then?

I'm doing the floor press because I'm waiting for the bench for my home gym to actually turn up lol
How can I do this alone safely? My safety pins don't go that low. Maybe some low blocks on the side...
How do you guys do it?
Have a wagon wheel on maybe?
Dr. george hackenschmidt-floor
Floor pressing exclusively out of necessity due to Covid... my shoulder health has been improving in conjunction with basic I/E rotation work...
I love to superset floor presses off the floor with barbell rows from the floor.
Mark looking fit and healthy
5:00 How you know this dude powerlifts
great vid though, great alternative for the home gymmers as well
Thanks!!
Wow, actual no-BS videos on lifting. Thanks
Do you think a beginner should start here then move to the traditional bench press?
strong and jaccccked
FLOOR GANG OUUUU
“All you need is a floor”... and a rack, and a bar, and weights, and a yoga mat lol
Can you do with dumbbells on the floor?
Question since I can floor press 175 pounds how much should I be able to bench press?
I was going to do a 315 Squat day blast but now I think I want to switch to some bench pressing lol
Could you do a partial bench press in a power rack instead with the same range of motion and the safety bars set in a way that
the bar touches the safety bars and not your elbows touching the floor?? Would there be a big difference??
Yes they work differently do both
I’m going to be doing Alpha Destiny’s novice program and this is one of the exercises in it. I love the feel of the power I get from it. Crazy how much I could lift coming back after a year of not training with weights :)
Do you all keep your back tight while pressing the weight up or just on the way down/negative during the floor or bench presses?
This was awesome Thankyou king
Thanks!
Super Good Techinque
Thank you
good to get back to some positive happy hobby we love and hate
I just googled dr floor.. then realized it
😂😂
Does raising the safety bars up one notch, lowering the bar to it, resting it then pressing give the same effect?
That's how I had too do them where I worked out.
Referring to the PIN PRESS? Also a good lift BTW
Also a good lift but they work you different
Hello uncle Mark!
i'll be honest. i wanted to learn this cause i bought a barbell and cant afford a bench >.
Still looking jacked, bro.
Can the floor press be used in place of the close grip bench press on shoulder/tri day?
Absolutely!
I just bought a pair of strong sleeves and love them. I only have one little problem with them. I bought a size large since I have 14.5 inch biceps flexed but during training the sleeve tends to eat up the inside of my elbow where the seam is at and ends up looking like I have a rash. Is their anyway to fix that or do I bite the bullet and buy an size XL.
thanks, i used all through covid lol
You a cool cat Mark
I don't even bench press anymore on a bench. I only do bb and db floor presses.
let's talk about all floor press variations. all
Algorithms!
Also can fix your lower back pain by just sleeping on the floor on a mat or 2.
Floorpress bro. Dr floor. Gotcha.
Mark what % of weight can you do in Floor Press vs Regular Bench? Is there somewhat of a general estimate of "If I can BP this much...I should Floor Press X amount"?
Mark don’t listen to anyone. Speak your mind! No topics are off subject t
Jesus 9.56 almost gave me a heart attack.
I can floor press what i can bench regularly 205
