I think it was either 25% or 15%. But I think the best way is to just grap a light band and from there add weight. And if you're a strong lifter get a bigger band.
I don't understand these comments. Matt is a world class level accomplished powerlifter and he gets into working out and speaking his knowledge. I take it as passion and enthusiasm, watching him be confident and strong doesn't hurt my ego or make me insecure like it seems to in these commenters. Is he supposed to be zen like a super relax and about to doze off pushing these weights, what do you want? You want him to be an ancient sage and be able to lift max weight without even blinking ? Does he need to be a kung fu or anime hero for you?
Hi Matt, I'm wondering why you aren't measuring your speed with a TENDO Unit or any other device. Any specific reason for that? Do you just "feel" - due to experience - if you're fast enough for i.e. explosivness, speed-strength etc.? Thanks in advance. Wish you an energetic day. Best Regards from Germany, Bernd
That's what he's coaching about the Lat's and Grip Strength on the bar. The combination keeps things smooth and once your on the bench with the correct weight it just comes together. So if you're having issues check the weight
Its for athletes predominantly. Their movement patterns need to reflect what they do on the field. If you are diving into people and pushing them out the way, grappling etc, this replicates it. However, it is also useful for increasing your bench press if you find yourself at a certain sticking point.
A loaded 60,000 lbs. dump truck going 5mph would have a "momentum" of close to 61,000 kg-m/s. A 50g .50 cal bullet going 2,828 f/s would be around 43 kg-m/s.. I don't think momentum is what he's alluding to...
Ive been at it for 11 weeks now (w/ and w/o bands), and it's definitely drastically helped my my main lifts. Maybe going too heavy perhaps or with too much band tension/chain weight. Ive been guilty of that 2nd one (too much tension).
10x3 on dynamic day upper rotating through Duffalo Bar and straight bar w light band. Usually worked w 185 lb bar weight moving very fast and explosive. Max was 445 btw.. didn’t help my bench in any way shape or form
And lower body dynamic day working w Duffalo Bar box squat right at parallel w average bands. Usually w around 225-275 bar weight 10x2. Raw squat was 600. Again, did nothing.
Hes yellin at everyone else for not keeping tight and losing position yet his shoulders are floppin around like stormy daniels wizards sleeve. Guys a world class D bag
I could sit, listen and learn from Matt all day !!
Man, Wenning looks so much different than 8 years ago and he’s still maintained that strength
Science meets raw power. It's a beautiful thing.
I love wenning man. He comes off a tad arrogant but its very well deserved
great pointers and straight to the point. no one was full of themselves in here.
I'll just be doing my speed days with a pvc pipe and reverse bands. No big deal.
Pure iron gold! Knowledge is power, and power is just fucking great!
best vid ever, thank you. learned so much
So if you're changing the bar weight from 50-60% down to 30-40% what should the accommodating resistance (bands/chains) be at?

Matt is using the smallest band.
Excellent breakdown. 🐲
Just finished training and I want to go back 😜
Matt is a very intelligent guy but super full of himself!!
You can see he is high on pre workout..Usually a bit more humble :D
I'm sure you would be too if you were an elite level world record breaker.
@@soulution24 lol your rights ive watched him on his channel and he seems super different here

Those pauses on the way down look pretty gnarly. Imma add those in on a speed day I think
this is gold!
Matt Wenning super smart!
Best in the business
this series is great
Great video with great explanations.
This is great information!
Do a video on the squat and DL DE days
Cool explanation
Super video
awesome please bring wenning back :-)
Is it better to control all the way down and through or speed through the downward AND upward motion?

Anyone remember Mark Bell from the discovery channel wrestling documentary in 1999 when he trained with John Cena?
Question, how much resistance are you calculating from the red bands?
About DIS much
It depends, but the calibration chart for the elite fts bands is on their website
What are the bottom of the bands attached to? Or how are they secured?
Any speed work for the squat?
Can this same method be done if you don't have access to chains at the moment?
I've read a couple of articles about this. Yes, some even recommend not using bands or chains for the novice lifter when doing speedwork.
I appreciate the feedback. I will implement this into my work out. Thank you.
so 10 sets of speed work essentially?
F = ma. Good video.
Slippers ?
If only Einstein lifted!
What bar is thay
duffalo bar
day made. dudes a bio-engineer
Wow
Benching in flip flops? Who is this guy?
Seen videos of powlifter from the 2000’s doing this
Some knowledge Matt can't beat that
What is the point of speed work?

To produce a fast rate of force development.

When comparing bullet to truck I think you mean momentum not acceleration.

What if you just do your lighter sets as speed reps as you pyramid up, or do you need to do it on a separate day?

Yeah he's losing the chest and the back every time. Massive douchebag with very little knowledge of shit but a whole lot of tren inside him.
so what are your credentials ...
@@morme1980 talk is cheap ...
@@morme1980 You don't get to his level as a world record breaker if you don't have knowledge. Frankly, that is a stupid comment.
Yes he's strong but does he need to be so arrogant?
It's not arrogant its commanding a room, learn the difference.
He's in his element, it's like a dolphin swimming well in water and you getting all butt hurt about it.
Something about his confidence and strength reflect insecurity and fear in you
It's not arrogance, but even if he was, he's earned the right to be arrogant.
You don’t master any bench method 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Imagine dedicating a whole life of work and knowledge to pushing weight off of your chest. Wtf for. Fail
Imagine dedicating time and effort to being a troll... By comparison I'd say he did alright, at least he's useful in some way.
