Basically what happens is, there will be a rise from 100Hz down to 50Hz, then it will drop because of the LC filter. That said, you could get a similar result (though not identical) by using a band EQ boost at 70Hz or so instead of a shelf.
@mutesolo Shelving filters will boost or cut everything above or below a certain frequency, by a certain amount. My console, for instance, can boost everything above 12KHz by 3dB or whatever I want. A low-pass filter, will simply chop off everything above a certain frequency. So if my Orban EQ here has a low-pass filter (AKA high cut) set to 4KHz, there will effectively be no information above 4KHz coming out of the unit.
@thejeckisamusic Well, the why to adjusting EQ stems from hearing mild imbalances in the spectrum, like if you hear one note that's consistently louder than all the others, you can use EQ to tame it. As for HOW, that's explained in this video and its sequel.
@pitolove71 Hey, thanks! Look for "why I don't buy remastered CDs" in my channel. I don't really use metering when mixing. My monitors are calibrated so that -20dBfs RMS = 80dB SPL in the listening position. I pull out my Radio Shack SPL meter once and a while to make sure the level in the room is about 80dB C-weighted (or a little lower sometimes) and pay no attention to the meters in the software.
Hello i would appreciate very much in case you could help concerning the connection of the orban 622b to a european 220 volt socket..it may need the following?--amarad thg 300 power converter or something else?thank you in advance..
Hello Wado, Here a good question for ya'.... I have the outboard the Outboard Gear called The "Tascam 2488 Neo - Porta Studio Its a 24-TRK Digital Recorder which I bought over a PC/DAW since I am not DAW material as of yet! I find that on my Neo 2488 - I have an EQ for ALL-Tracks, But ONLY 1 - Compressor AT MIX-DOWN and one more Opportunity at MASTERING the Final song. Soooo - I saw your Compressor TuT and Now Your EQ TuT and Since I only have 2-Opportunities at using my Compressor which is for the WHOLE SONG - [ALL 24-TRACKS USE JUST ONE-COMPRESSOR] ONE AT Mix-Down & ONE AT FINAL MASTER ... IS THERE ANY ADVICE ON HOW I CAN BETTER USE OR BENEFEIT all 24-tracks SIr??? I just hope you understand my jibber-jabber here Sir. Everyone around me is saying: Compress in sections such as Voices first - then - Percussion - Then Winds, BUT! I have 24-Digital Tracks and like any good ear....I too want a clean STereo Master but I seek Your advice Sir??? *** Great EQ & Compressor TuTs Sir... Hope to see more Technique-TuTs on OutBoard Gear used for Recording and Digital Tips and Ways to use recording gear!!! God Bless SIncerely, Angelo M. 4.30.16
+Unique Touch I just checked a review that said you have eight insert effects (ahem, "mic effects" in your case) including compression. So up to eight channels can have independent compression. I suggest diving into the manual to learn how to do this because integrated DAWs are all different and rarely intuitive. If there's only one place to have compression IMO, it would not be in the final mix or master. I also suggest learning to use a computer-based DAW in the near future. They may seem daunting at first but you will quickly find how difficult and limited the typical studio-in-a-box is by comparison. I prefer Sony Vegas, which is also a good video editor but a DAW first.
Wow Amazing Sir! I thank you for your time and effort! I didn't even know I had 8-mic efx which also doubled per-se to choose compressors! I will go thru the the Manual again Sir! I am now clear that I need to master my Studio in a Box before I go and spend on a ligit PC and DAW. Great info Sir! I also thank you for correcting me and directing me! I will commit more time to getting my recording and knowledge of my Tascam 2488 in order. I feel So Blessed and joyed thanks to you Sir. May God Bless ya and Thanks for your Knowledge-Effort & Time Mr. Wado-1942. Sincerely, Angelo M.
Would love longer tutorials from this guy !!
Thanks. I may eventually post a "complimentary EQ" video showing how to avoid having multiple spikes & dips accumulating across several tracks.

Hello. It doesn't care about the frequency of the power, just voltage. Any decent step-down converter will do the job for you.
Thanks!
