  • In this Science video for class 9 in Hindi we explained what plasma is, how plasma is formed and what the usage of plasma in our daily life are. This is a topic of chapter 1 - 'Matter in our Surroundings' of class 9th science from NCERT.
    Before this we knew about the three states of matter, viz., the solid state, the liquid state and the gaseous state. But there are two more states, viz., plasma and the Bose-Einstein condensate.
    🔴 What is plasma -
    When a gas is sufficiently hot or a high electric field is applied to a gas, its electrons are ejected from the atoms and the gas is said to be ionized. This ionized gas, i.e., the mixture of the neutral atoms, the cations and the free electrons is called plasma.
    🔴 Examples of plasma -
    Plasma is found inside stars. This plasma is called the fully ionized plasma.
    Lightening is another example of plasma. This plasma is called the partially ionized plasma.
    Plasma is also used in fluorescent lights and plasma TVs. In fluorescent lights a gas in low pressure is inserted into a tube and voltage is applied in electrodes. Colourful light is emitted from the tube. The colour depends upon the gas inside.
    🔴 Gas and colour
    Hydrogen - red
    Helium - yellow
    Neon - orange
    Carbon dioxide - white
    Mercury - blue
    🔴 Few terms associated with plasma
    Plasma density - It is the number of free electrons per unit volume
    Degree of ionization - it is the part of gas ionized.
    Electron-ion collision frequency - It is the number of collision between free electrons with the cations.
    Electron-neutral collision frequency - It is the number of collision between free electrons with the neutral atoms.
    When the electron-ion collision frequency is larger than the electron-neutral collision frequency, it is called the fully ionized plasma. In other case, it is known as partially ionized plasma.

    Sir I have a question is that we know that positive and negative charge particles are attract and positive and positive charge particles are repel but sir how the nucleon of an atom contain many protons (positive charge ) stay in the atom without repelltion. Please sir explain that.🧐🧐

    • @gmd2455
      @gmd2455 3 года назад

      Present of neutrons help to bind the protons in the nucleus of an atom hence protons remain in the nucleus of atom without repulsion.

    • @adityagupta5026
      @adityagupta5026 3 года назад +1

      There is a force called strong nuclear force acts between the protons.

    • @adit8425
      @adit8425 2 года назад +1

      The strong nuclear force pulls together protons and neutrons in the nucleus. At very small distances only, such as those inside the nucleus, this strong force overcomes the electromagnetic force, and prevents the electrical repulsion of protons from blowing the nucleus apart.

      @@adit8425 thank you but now this now I will get to know about In Nuclear bomb how the proton has separated from the nucleus of an atom 😊 because I am in 10th so I had gain more knowledge and if you are in 9th then I want to tell you that class 9 physics and chemistry are very interesting even if you are a curious person like me then it's more interesting and in 10th science there are not many interesting chapters in physics and chemistry but some chapters like carbon and it's compounds , light , human eye and the colorful world , electricity, and Magnetic effects of current are really interesting and amazing 🧐👍🔥

    Sir, I want to ask one question
    At 9:51
    You have said that No of negatively charged electrons and positively charged ions are not equal. But how can it be possible, we know that proton and electron have equal charges which is equal to 1.6 x 10-19 C.
    And plasma is neutral. So, number of electron and proton should be equal.

    • @moneysh19
      @moneysh19 8 месяцев назад

      He is talking about No of free electrons 😂

    • @Sangeet-e-bhojpuriya12
      @Sangeet-e-bhojpuriya12 8 месяцев назад

      @@moneysh19
      Except near the electrodes, where there are sheaths containing very few electrons, the ionized gas contains ions and electrons in about equal numbers
      This is from wikipedia. You can check
      In a plasma, there is an approximately equal number of free electrons and positive ions, resulting in overall electrical neutrality.
      And this is result from chatgpt
