  • In this Science video for class 9 in Hindi we explained Bose-Einstein Condensate, also known as the 5th state of matter. This is a topic of chapter 1 - 'Matter in our Surroundings' of class 9th science from NCERT.
    When a gas of bosons at low densities is cooled to temperatures very close to absolute zero (-273.15 °C), the bosons loose their identity and behave like a single super atom.
    In the context of this video I will say that the atoms having total number of protons, neutrons and electrons as an even number, behaves as bosons. e.g., Helium-4 behaves like boson.
    Satyendra Nath Bose first sent a paper to Einstein on quantum statistics. Einstein then extended Bose's ideas to matter in two other papers. Einstein proposed that cooling bosonic atoms to a very low temperature would cause them to fall (or "condense") into the lowest accessible quantum state, resulting in a new form of matter.
    On 5 June 1995, Eric Cornell and Carl Wieman at the University of Colorado realized a Bose-Einstein condensate in a gas of rubidium atoms cooled to 170 nanokelvins (nK). Shortly thereafter, Wolfgang Ketterle at MIT realized a Bose-Einstein condensate in a gas of sodium atoms. For their achievements Cornell, Wieman, and Ketterle received the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physics.

    If we suppose that the momentum gets zero
    Then what will happen to its wave nature
    And how will act

    • @TusharSrivastava-raziel121
      @TusharSrivastava-raziel121 3 года назад

      As mentioned, when temperature approaches zero, the momentum is reduced and BEC is formed. It is impossible to go below zero Kelvin (that is why it is called absolute zero), so momentum cannot be reduced to zero.

    • @TusharSrivastava-raziel121
      @TusharSrivastava-raziel121 3 года назад

      On a hypothetical note, suppose that momentum goes to zero the net energy of atom will become zero, and so atom will cease to exist. Because atom is nothing but energy fields interacting with each other in a very small space (size of atom). These are 2 types of energy fields (negative, positive).
