    This makes a lot of sense. The fact that I have been doing the exact opposite for years may explain why I am a rubbish chipper.

    Or use an 8 iron like a putter. Amateurs need to keep the SW in the bag for shots like this and the 60 degree wedge in the garage.

    • @davestory9141
      @davestory9141 4 месяца назад

      Couldn't disagree more. Using the bounce intelligently with a 56° is the best way to chip. I do agree with leaving the 60° at home though.

      @@davestory9141 difficult for an amateur to use a SW intelligently from a tight lie. Fluffy lie or you need to go over a bunker, yes a 56 is the club. Tight lie with no danger you have alternatives.

      @@johnp1040 Only problem with the 8 iron is the leading edge, especially with amateurs whereas a 56° can be opened to take the leading edge pretty much out of the equation.......... May golf be kind to all that play. I'm releasing a training aid in the fall, 12 years in development. It's called The Ingrainer. You will love it. Cheers.

    As a very ordinary golfer I would 100% putt both of these. I'm not gonna thin it or chunk it.- Just have to judge the grass before the green . Not.very sexy I .know but every time I see the result I would be delighted if I could have chipped it there. I play with the freedom of a man who's not.trying to impress anyone !

    In 20 years of playing Mark's video on chipping melted away what seemed like an unsurmountable obstacle. I watched his video last night, and today I played better than I had in my entire life with chipping like there's no tomorrow. Thank you so much mate!

    Shoulders parrallel to slope? What is the ideal loft of clubs to be used for each of these shots?

    Great stuff and as always EXCELLENT delivery in the explaination! I dont have these problems chipping, but have never thought about this technique right around the green. This should work similar with full shots from those lies, right? I have always aimed my body slightly left on full shot downhill lies and right on uphill lies, but I find the trick is to get your hips and shoulders matching the up or downhill.

    Chipping is one of those things...
    Good chippers all have their own style. Bad chippers think they can learn from good chippers but u'll never find more disputed and contrary advice from one 'teacher' to the next in virtually any subject.
    The solution. Practice and ignore everyone until u cam hit the ball near the hole. Then all of a sudden you'll be the guy tryna to explain to someone the secret thing u worked out that chnaged ur chipping...
    It wont work for them, will confuse them, make them worse and the cycle starts over...
    Do u think Ed sheeran was asking ppl how to sing or just singing until he sounded like what he wanted to hear??

      @@MarkCrossfield just facts bro...do U know how many ppl I've met who go "I'd love to learn guitar but my fingers are too fat"
      I tell them to look up Andy McKee. If they were gonna learn guitar they'd already play it for 8 hrs a day cos they couldn't stop. They'd work out how to use their fingers. That's the difference between someone driven and someone who wants a quick fix with no pain or effort because they like the idea of looking good at something.
      When I was a kid I was so good at chipping everyone at the club knew me for it. Do U know what I did to get that good in 1997? No contradictory YT videos and endless hours of practice.
