    We travelled between Prague and Budapest on a train in (I think) 2007; it was a great tip. And I agree, Keleti Pu is a lovely station! Incidentally, did you go on the Children's Railway? Great fun, if a rather uncomfortable ride.

    Hey! I loved this video! I have some cool facts this time as well :)
    The NS Flirts were manufactured after those of MÁV-Starts', so technically, their livery is based off the Hungarian one 🚄
    The first 60, red units are being refurbished, so they'll be equally modern to the blue ones. They're getting power sockets, LCD screens, etc. 🙂
    Thank you for your amazing content!

      @@NonstopEurotrip The first 60 FLIRT was originally built for ÖBB, but ÖBB had cancelled the order, MAV bought them ready at lover price. Thats why they are in red, not in MAV colors. All MAV's FLIRT (and KISS) are specified for local commute, that's why they are not soo confy for interregional use. (There are some intercity FLIRTS in other countries.)

    • @bencegyors
      @bencegyors 3 года назад +2

      @@balazspetho5636 no, MÁV bought 10 TALENTs originally made for ÖBB + 10 new ones, after losing the public procurement tender for 30+30 EMUs tó Stadler. Stadler delivered brand new trains made specifically for MÁV.

      In your latest Hungarian I saw you also had this ride from the Balaton lake to Budapest. What a fantastic railway station is Keleti, I liked it very much when we arrived in Budapest.
      The red and white livery of this train looks a lot like the older Arriva Spurt trains in the North of Netherlands.

    • @patrickreuvekamp
      @patrickreuvekamp 2 года назад

      The livery on the NS Flirts was first used on the SLT trainsets, introduced in 2009, so it is unlikely that it was based on the Hungarian one. It is probably just a coincidence that both liveries are similar.

    Back in 2011 we took a return trip from our campingsite in Balatonfüred and into Budapest Deli. It was a wonderful trip with what I think is a better view to Balaton than from the south shore. But here there was no flirting :-) it was an old locomotive hauled train with those small 6 seat coupe´s (or what they are called), we called in the hogwarts Express because it was so old.

    Please try the NS ICMM and check out the station of Groningen! ICMM units always run on the routes Rotterdam-Utrecht-Groningen and The Hague-Schiphol-Amsterdam Zuid-Groningen. From Groningen, Arriva (owned by DB) runs several services with Stadler GTW units ánd (!) the new Stadler WINK (only to runs to the town Leeuwarden): its a FLIRT that runs on biofuel. I really want to know what your opinion is on these trains/routes! Hopefully youll once make a video about It😄

    To make train travel a bit more friendly in Hungary they should invest in making English announces and refurbishing most tracks on the system. In some areas the train doesn’t really exceed more than 60km/h (although those are mostly not mainlines, but still).
    Hungary did manage to make its railway better though.

      As a Swiss, I'm used to commute in Kiss and Flirt trains with seats facing eachother. On most trips it's an advantage, as up to two occupants per group seat, you can really stretch out your legs. even with three occupants, that still works most of the time if people arrange themselves a bit. With 4, it becomes more difficult, but you can still sit upright with no knees touching. And lets face it: Flirting and kissing is much easier seated opposite! :-)

    Just last summer, I went to Hungary to see my grandma (I’m half Hungarian) and I always go to the balaton it is one of my favourite places to go to I usually go to zamárdi. This time I went on train from köbánya-kispest as it is the closest station and the trains end terminus was fonyód. I’m not sure what kind of train it was but it was an IC one (Inter-City).
    I was going with my aunt, uncle and sister so there was a lot of luggage between us as we were staying there for a week but there was plenty of luggage storage. It took a while for us to find our seats as we had never been on a train to Hungary before, despite being 13 years old 😂. We eventually found our seats and it was really well air-conditioned and there were sockets and plenty of legroom.
    It was so busy as well but from what I can remember so many people got off at siófok so it was really quite after and it was really scenic as well.
    Your videos are amazing and I really enjoy them. I really like watching the ones about Hungary because they remind me of home when I’m in England and it’s really nostalgic. Great videos and great content 👍
