I think Jamie is quite smart to be buying these California trucks. On top of the no corrosion these trucks run on essentially perfectly flat and smooth roads, frame and suspension has basically never taken a serious beating. You really are getting a like-new truck.
I also think it's a good move, if it's from Southern Cali it doesn't get the salt, calcium chloride or mag chloride that rust belt trucks get. Suspension work is cheap and easy compared to corrosion repair.
Jamie, congratulations on continuing your journey. I do miss your show as you worked some of the most difficult recovery's. I'm glad you have managed to find viable ways to work around the most ridiculous rules placed on the trucking industry. God Bless you and yours.
A fantastic purchase right there Jamie and you are so right an older truck such as this that has been looked after will far more reliable than a brand new truck and will pay for its self a whole lot sooner
An 88, had to back and relisten to make sure I was right. I totally agree with the no electronics approach. I had a wonderful F-250 crew cab. Wish I still had it. 4X4 short box, I built the engine for it -- Beautiful truck, Jimmie beautiful.
You are such a good , good man Mr. Davis 😊 Your commentaries and your meticulous manner that you have for your equipment speaks volumes of what kind of business man you are 😊 Such a fine looking piece of equipment added to your fleet 👍🏻
Truly love and respect the way you think about your fleet. You deserved this truck. Opportunities come when you have an eye for values. So great to see this. Wish you the best and good to see how you go thru hard times with nerves of steel and will of iron... One day may be it would be a great pleasure, to work for you.
Jamie nice to still see your videos still watch reruns highway through hell cool new toy I'm a big fan of older trucks and cars blessings to you and your family 🙏🙏
There is one thing you can say about Jamie Davis. He is a very smart businessman man, who knows what & what his company needs. Congratulations on your new truck.
WOW! It's really amazing that it was so lightly used over the years. It must have been not for sale, or priced to bring knowledgeable buyers. Great find.
Jamie i totally agree on older equipment, i stopped driving semi,s in 2009 due to health issues, the def stuff is a crazy pain i see many deal with problems,, hats off to you , someday ill make it up there ,stay safe ,
Agree with Jamie on so many levels here. In our business (concrete pumping) I could not fathom having payments on brand new $750K+ rig as well as dealing with the astronomical increase to the basis costs of doing business. Not to mention that it used to be that you bought brand new and the benefit was not having to deal with much more than basic maintenance for the first 3-5 years of its life. Today's trucks are in the dealership for electronic malfunction warnings (typically tier 4 emissions related) I swear at least one week out of every 10-12.... and that's if they can even source the parts required to get it back up and running.
Been watching Jamie for a long time big fan always great too see you get new equipment. Big shout out from Florida. Over the road trucker keep the shiny side up .
Very beautiful. I remember when you first got this, you were going to change the hood to an aluminum one, glad you kept the 377 hood. These are quite unique looking and ready for an 80s theme car show.
I was never a big fan of the 377 back in the day, but this one looks really cool to me. It seems to wear that wrecker body like a hand in a glove and it probably triggered my "nostalgic sap mode" heh, heh. Also, when put up against the modern aero trucks this unit puts 'em to shame.
@@crushingvanessa3277 Timing is everything, I guess. When the 377s hit the road it was a huge departure from the 379s for many Pete fans. Some folks preferred it, obviously, but I'm maybe appreciating it more now because of the aerodynamic wave that hit shortly after the 377 was new. Or, I might be just diggin' on this 377 because it's so badass heh, heh.
@@GTLees A bit the same for me,. I wasn't around trucking much but build models. I remember when these and other aero trucks came out, some people hated them with a passion, some liked them.
Man that truck is 3 years younger than me and looks 100x better lol. I think Jamie Davis has made most of his $$$$ the past few years doing long haul towing to eastern Canada. This would be the PERFECT rig for that, looks like it has a decent sized sleeper, the proper weight rating, 18 speeds, a decent enough engine to pull the grades in BC. Plus its one of those old school rigs if you go over it with a fine tooth comb, replace all the air lines, rubber hoses, inspect the wiring, it should be pretty damn reliable. Also say what you want about white, it looks damn good with chrome and a bold accent stripe/contrasting color/graphics on the truck like this. On a fleet spec Volvo or Freightliner, yeah white kinda sucks.
That's a beauty! Love watching your show. I own very small trucks; a Chevy S10 and a 26 year old Toyota T100. It does have an ECU but is still easy to work on.
Really enjoyed looking at your new / old truck. You are right saying that as nice and convenient as electronics are, they still haven't figured out how to corrosion proof electronics.
Even though im in Georgia i do love your passion for old tech. I do find that it does much better in the harsher environments up north than what it will ever be put thru here. I would love to see you end up with all his original stuff. What a unique experience
beauty truck. the 444 sounds great and isnt easy to come by and probably isnt as bad as people say it is. as with anything maintaining goes a long way.....
Well, I’m a 71-year-old woman Jamie and I watch your show on TV and I just found you on RUclips. I did not know you had a channel and this is beautiful truck mind you I love the other rotator too and I can’t wait to see it when it gets fixed but I’m so glad that you got another truck. It’s beautiful you deserve it.
Beautiful truck the new one are Really amazing but the old truck Beautiful an Amazing good job fixing them up an buying old truck . 🎉 Love your show. God Bless You
Since that Cummins 444 is such low miles and basically a just a big cam iv Cummins you could remove the step timing control and get rid of the heat exchanger in the intake manifold and install a air to air charge air cooler in front of the radiator. You could also turn it essentially into a early mechanical n14. I know those engines well and the stc is the biggest problem with caused premature cam and follower wear.
Thanks Jamie love the updates it's been way to long since the last one.The new truck is beautiful congratulations looking forward to seeing it on the road.Old cars are way more money than they were new so why shouldn't old trucks in mint condition be more than they were new.
The newer trucks, agreed so expensive, uses cheap light weight wiring loaded with switches bypasses. With your business these older trucks are perfect. Thanks for sharing
Jamie your right trying to get older models without any of the electronic stuff it's a pain in the backside stupid faults all the time congratulations on that motor Jamie 👍.
Pretty soon Jamie. You will be able to buy all sorts of wicked nice Petes and KWs from California. The state is going to put most of the O/Os out of business. Older Trucks in California will be going for cheap. Keep Up the Great Work. Stay Safe out There 🇺🇸 👍👍
A series on “Rebuilding The Rotator” is coming very soon,

California roads are absolutely terrible and beat you to death..
You obviously haven't been in California recently.
How many times has it been up Donner's Pass? Regardless, it's in Beautiful shape

Wouldn't it be great if he could keep, restore, and work a nostalgic fleet? He kinda already has had a rollin' museum, at times, I suppose heh, heh
That truck looks brand new. Great find 👍
