Jamie is a hack. There’s one side that’s rusty and one that’s bare one crack is old one is new…. He needs to up his game. He needs to learn to check everything. If he lets his money maker wrecker have a crack on his boom what else is wrong with it? I don’t understand how stupid can someone be to not see that?! Come on…. Even Stevie wonder can see that.
@danokerr9929 your delusional..it has clearly been cracked and you clearly don't know how something like that can be missed...100% probably couldn't even see it with how much grease was on it..But hey there is always that idiot in the comments that thinks they know shit...post up your equipment and show everyone how its done...🙄
That part has been broke for a little while. You can see the fresh break And then you can see the old break thats covered in grease and oil. An old seasoned trucker once told me "I don't break things, I just find the weak points." Things like this happens in any kind of business when it involves machinery. Its all in a days work.
I like what he said. He needs a mix of old and new. He takes care of them all but with all the emissions stuff that causes a lot of the failures with the powertrain you have to have a mix.
From the look of that broken part, one of those cracks is a LOT older than the other. Black coated in oil/greese vs a clean cast crack. I'd suggest, using the broken one as a template, get a couple new ones cast up and machined as spares. Eventually you'll break another in the cold.
Inspite growing into a biiig Company he Jamie Davis still loves his old trucks. That shows love and compassion for real trucks and living a actual dream. What good is comfort when you are outside in minus temperatures freezing to death cos the newbie breaks down... where the oldskool keeps rolling (coal)
I watched what happened in upstate NY with a winter where it went below 32 degrees for over 4 months and was down below -20 and the metal started snapping like it was brittle glass Door handles would snap like twigs Door handles on houses snapped right off Cold is brutal on metal
they need to send those old parts to a machine shop that they can't get and have them make new one part they can recut every part from raw metal and even save the spec's to recut for other's or if Jamie was smart he would get them to make a few and put them on that ole internet for other companies that may need that part and to have new old parts is worth twice as much to most as a scrap yard old part to repair something!
Jaimie needs a machinist with all the old trucks. Losing the Mack to a fire was bad, but things happen. Trucks and machinery breaks when it’s run hard, especially in cold weather.
See how one side of the crack is all oily and the other side is bare metal? The first happened a long time ago and the second is recent. I hate the fake conflict and bullshit threatening atmosphere in these shows. Shit breaks. Especially when cold. And nobody can say who was doing what when that originally broke, it may have been that way since it was assembled. This is why I got rid of cable TV and why I will be blocking this channel too. And in the end it isn't even an issue, because if this was an issue at this place then he'd have no employees.
I used to like this show and Ice Road Truckers but the drama ruined for me too. If they don't have enough content for an hour long show then cut out the extra crap and make it a half hour show. I guess their idea of reality TV is different than mine. I got rid of cable because of the commercials, and I don't miss it at all.
@@BarryWilkinson oh that's nothing i cut satellite and started buying DVDs by the dozens and I ain't gonna stop anytime soon lots cheaper going to route
Jamie is correct. Old is great and it serves its place still, but new is far superior for efficiency because your drivers are 1000% more comfortable for long bumpy roads and you are more fuel efficient too = profit.
Yeah well, this truck has seen a lot of days & for a "part" to break is doubtfully the fault of not doing proper maintenance? Basically you keep them clean & well lubed up. Other than that it's hard to say what all the weather & weight that part has carried might have been the final straw? At least they caught it here/now.... not out on the road w/ a truck hanging off the winch. Kool to see these hard parts as they go bad but that's all this was.... this mechanic didn't cause this. Good thing they caught it here at home.
Yep, as I thought & thing is that the thing was cracked for God knows how long before the thing sheered off? So there was a crack that was disguised in the rust, oil, and grease...... that was a tough piece of metal. peace
Because they're reliable and they'll outwork the new ones. I'm a conductor on a class one. Every single four axle (little engine) is between 40-50 years old, and we still use them every day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
How can the mechanics not see that crack before?! Come on. If the boom is cracked what else is wrong with it?! Brian or whatever the mechanics name is should get his eyes checked. Things like this should can kill someone so how can you idiots be so neglectful? Preventative maintenance is everything and if you can’t see that crack during a pm you shouldn’t be pulling wrenches. Jamie should be ashamed….. Jamie is a disgrace to the tow business running ragged trucks.
Always LOVED this show, man and machine against the elements.
Classic Jamie, rock solid loved the way he handled a bad situation, respect wins again.

You hang on to the old trucks they run when the new ones won't

Cam got off the hook on this one but General and 86 were sold to Alberta. Jamie is in the process of getting new trucks.
Smart I think, once the metal fatigue shows up in a truck that takes the pounding a tow truck does, it’s gonna be like cancer
they need to send those old parts to a machine shop that they can't get and have them make new one part they can recut every part from raw metal and even save the spec's to recut for other's or if Jamie was smart he would get them to make a few and put them on that ole internet for other companies that may need that part and to have new old parts is worth twice as much to most as a scrap yard old part to repair something!
A Holmes wrecker in a scrapyard is hard enough to find, let alone the needed model. Good save Jamie!
Sad to realize the Mack burned to the ground not long ago.
Find a machine shop, simple part to make new.
I wonder if the General has a Detroit 8V92 turbo in it? If so, it'd be fun to drive just for the sound.
I knew Jamie should’ve kept his rotator that he had in season one
Next.😢
a good machine shop can make that part.
Have a new one made or have a shop furnace braze the old one, a good braze job is right up there with cast

What was wrong with the white semi that made it undriveable?
Hit an animal, looks like the grill is pushed in quite a bit. So probably has a damaged radiator
Most likely the sensor on the front was tore up dam 3000 dollar part vs the 1500 dollar deer guard I put on my 2 trucks
Jamie is correct. Old is great and it serves its place still, but new is far superior for efficiency because your drivers are 1000% more comfortable for long bumpy roads and you are more fuel efficient too = profit.
New doesn't always mean more fuel efficient or not enough of a difference to offset the cost.
So i'm guessing by looking at that truck it's a auto di he drop the drive shaft.?
this is years old why does it say 9 days ago

This is an old one both the Mack and the General are gone
Hard to beat HOLMES
He forgot the first thing to do. Pee on the break and it will rust overnight.
Not babysitting nice . I know that feeling 😕 😌 😞 😪
That truck burnt down
Parts break.. it happens..just fix it and move on

Why do they drive these antiques?

Does Cam sound like he constantly has mucus in his throat when he talks? Or is it just me…?
You probably have to replace these every 5 years after the subzero temperatures they work in....
