- Andy Crow and friends build a night-vision rifle scope out of parts they find lying around on eBay. He has a rat problem in one of the barns on his farm. Happily, he has a rifle. Will his homemade DIY NV set-up be up to the job?

Why shoot rats?
There are thought to be more than 10 million rats in the UK (…yuk).
Rats carry many diseases which can spread to humans, normally through their urine, including: leptospirosis or Weil's disease, salmonella, listeria, toxoplasma gondii and hantavirus.
Rodent contamination also presents a significant risk to livestock health. Both cattle and sheep will ingest a large proportion of faecal contamination (Daniels & Hutchings 2001).
Rats can also inflict structural damage. They can cause fires by gnawing away the insulation around electrical cables, floods by puncturing pipes and they chew through gas pipes. The insurance sector has estimated that rodent damage to wiring is responsible for 25% of all electrical fires in buildings.
Finally, rats can ruin an organisation's reputation. If clients and customers spot evidence of rodent infestation in the premises you manage, they are unlikely to want to do business with you. - Спорт
I have a rat problem too, but in the Netherlands you are not allowed to shoot politicians...

Anna Kraft
I totally agree !!!!
Anna Kraft hehehehehe yeahhh
It's funny reading the comments about getting a cat. I had a HUGE cat, and this thing was so vicious it would tackle and maul large dogs. Even this brutal animal had a hard time of large rats, and was frequently getting bitten and hurt by them (on his paws). Not to mention, any time he killed something too big for him to eat, or a rat that tasted funny, he would leave their organs strewn all over the floor. It once took me 10 minutes just to find all the parts of a rat he caught. It is much cleaner, faster and humane to shoot them. Mice are a different story however.
"It once took me 10 minutes just to find all the parts of a rat he caught."
LOL
My ferrets have a hard time with rats including by big hob, could he can not turn in their holes so he got bit on the ass a lot. Now days I just use mark 4 fen traps to get the f**kers.
I used to have like 50 rats running around everywhere.
I got 1 cat, she gave babies and then thing continues. Now I've got 18 cats and No mice.. But to feed 18 cats, 3 times a day.. GOD!!
I should have gotten an air rifle instead..

The children fairy tale music playing during the rats murder is PRICELESS :)))
Peter Call your spelling is priceless too murder

Rat wars?
That sounds like a bunch of kids screaming at each other in a cod match
the flamethrower guy in Australia has enough score for a nuke
Anyone who feels bad for these rats don't realize how much damage these little critters have done. They're nasty.
***** LOL. tupen has a point. I shoot a lot of them, but what they do IS instinctive. Can't blame them for that!
***** Spatchcock the little buggers and flash fry them. In a pumpkin jus.
boiledoctopus The word rodent comes from the latin "rodere", which translates as "to gnaw". Well suited name. I am a professional pest controller and see the damage they cause. Only good rat is a dead rat.
cornz38 I agree. The Latin name for rat is Rattus rattus. About sums the horrible species up.
***** Says it all. Sacrifice the rat!
ITS FEELS SO SATISFYING WHEN HE SHOOTS THE RATS😂
Nice hardware hack. Real-time night vision, inbuilt video monitor, plus the ability to record the action. I also like the fact that once the scope has been sighted-in, it's a simple matter to switch between daytime and night vision use.
Good evening FieldSports -
Please keep the videos coming! I love the fact that you have created clear videos with a low budget. You have proven that you don't have to break the bank to have fun and kick some butt. Great work family. Lol
8:03 He says "its a Beaver" and shoots it anyway.. LMAO
You caught that too 🤣
Hey,! Look! IT is my son in law! (Shoots anyway)
it wasn't a beaver.
The video is cut, he probably waited after saying that to be sure. We can see in the video that it's not a beaver.
this is oddly satisfying to watch lol
I know! right?
what are you supposed to be a man or a woman? i honestly can't tell.

I was wanting to get an air rifle so I can do this at my place. Until I saw the prices of IR equipment.
Now I'm back in the game! Thanks for making this!
I can watch that all day
how does someone "dislike" this video?...that there is a great time! and you gotta love the ingenuity to make a cheaper alternative NV scope and camera. Loved the teamwork and background music.
And to think some people prefer to spend the evening indoors watching television! Nice piece of kit and some fine shooting!

no animals were injured during making this video ! xD
You need to start this video with a disclaimer: animals were harmed in the making of this hilarious video.
Nah, I think most intelligent people would know what ratting is, and just click away. That being said, this looks pretty fun.
except no animals where harmed only pests :P
Humans were harmed in the building of America and Europe..... Yet u live there. You need a disclaimer
In the process of setting up a night cam the same looks great and a lot cheaper than a night sight . Keep up the good films guys,
how crazy, I've only just seen this clip, and the fact that I got a mention on it, many thanks I feel famous, I like that set up as presumably it gives you the option to record too, now a woodland owner so lots of squirrels to control,
I love seeing rats die, just found a bunch in my attic and now have to deal with setting a bunch of traps along with cleaning up and repairing all the mess they've made :-(
You know o.o rats actually make amazing pets. They can learn tricks and they have complex social groups. OoO You know rats live in family groups and packs and they have been proven to show empathy for their group mates. If a rat is in trouble another tries to come and help it. o.o I honestly love rats but in the wild they can carry diseases but if you actually catch them alive you can turn them into pets haha if you really wanted too.
However if you really do have a big rat problem get some cats. o.o My house used to be a home for wild rats until we got my four cats. Now I only have three cats ( Due to the death of one of my babies ) But alas the other three hunt down the rats by instinct. Mice too. I understand that rat's can cause lots of damage and they can in effect be deemed a pest but they really are beautiful creatures o.o With lots of emotions o.o and social structures that are amazing to witness. They all sleep together play together If they didn't breed faster than bunnies then they wouldn't really be a pest but then again o.o if they didn't breed so quickly then they probably would have gone extinct from all the hate they get XD
I doubt I could kill a rat ever in my lifetime no matter how pesky but I don't blame those that do. After all rats can chew through concrete. So yeah they can do a lot of damage. Although they are surprisingly clean animals. Despite pooping a lot and peeing a little they groom themselves every single day sometimes three times a day and it's part of their social groupings too. ( I have owned rats o.o and spent every day with them they are so sweet and loving and cute. And honey was my most wild rat. With little to no human contact but she came around after a while of trust training and now she sees me as one of the pack XD It's very sweet ) Naturally I love rats but I also say o..o if you need to defend the crops do so XD and shooting is far more humane than the traps and the poison. >o> Poison doesn't even work that well because rats are so smart if they see one of their members dying from something it ate that rat learns what to avoid. o.o
But no really cat's do an amazing job and they as well are a humane way of taking care of a problem o.o In my opinion that's nature.
RainbowStarGumDrop Nah, just kill them.
RainbowStarGumDrop I can teach a rat only one trick...
How to play dead, it requires a ruger 10/22 and a CCI velocitor.
rats are disgusting rodents and ain't lovable creatures, these people who befriend the rats have no human friends and has lost their way. i had a friend who had a pet rat and would carry it on his shoulder the worst part was he had crater acne and the rat would nibble on it, omg thinking about it again makes me sick.
Kill em
This is so enjoyable, I can repeat doing this whole night lol
Lol same here
+Carrie Tercero a girl that hunts, lol nice! XD
This looks like so much fun.
It is. I have less rats to deal with, but it's still a hoot.
I would love to hunt Rodents of unusual size with that gear.
I got the rats, I got the appetite for hunting, all I am missing now is the rifle.
You are not alone...
You both are not alone

The rail that mounts the laser onto the scope .
Can anyone please tell me the name.
I have the scope mounted to the rifle and have a spare set of mounts to set up the lamp/lazer but the double side rail that is use I can not find so any help is appreciated
The music is extremely annoying but otherwise great footage and shooting.
Its a beaver!!!! was dying with laughter!!!
Like the show and especially your setup. Very nice!
I just go loud and proud with a flashlight on the end lol.
Up, down, left, up, up ,up, Down, down... its there to the left... i mean right... xD LOL awhh shit lol xD
Reminds me of the old 60s/70s game show "The Golden Shot". (look up Bob Monkhouse", "The Golden Shot", "Bernie the bolt!")
A crossbow was attached to a TV camera and steered by a blindfolded cameraman - the contestant steered the crossbow by shouting ..
"up, down, down, left, left, up, up ,up, down, FIRE". Bernie was responsible for loading the crossbow bolt when commanded to do so.

Where can I find that lens adaptor?
I though I was the only one who hunted rats like this. Awesome.
Hundreds of millions of dead people due to these animals. Don't forget it.
also human fault for killing so many cats back in the day
it was actually the Flea on the Rat.
PokeLonly 60% of england
Hundreds of animals abused and killed by humans, don’t forget it.
Nobody gives a fuck about the life of a rat these filthy creatures need to be under controls they're a pest a nuisance and a dangerous germ carrier.
looking for the link your rpomised at the beginning of the video, need cheaper options
Hey brother can you please list the filter, sony camcorder, scope, ebay listings? I could not find the "lense filter" and it seems to be essensial.
10,000 angry rats watching this
man i love watchg these so satisfying though ! thanx :)
The video mentioned a link to some budget options, but the link is only to the channel page.
Check out nightvisionforumuk.com....goto the DIY section.
Amazing how far nightvision has come on and now with the advent of thermal who knows how great it will be in 5 or 10 years from now
Love the British comedy..
the whispering and the music.
LMAO
Does anyone know of a place to get those air pumped pellet guns that are cheap?
Or maybe second hand?
Very nice video.
I've now bought a cheap Sony Handycam with Nighshot too.
Which part(s) are used to connect the cameralens to the scope?
I see 30mm-43mm on the part. But when i search on this on ebay i do not find the (about 2 inch long) part which fits on the scope's eyepiece.
Nobody knows?
the dislikes are hypocrites who don't know what it feels to have rats in your house
Idiot
I think it's more to do with inhumane shots atthe body, rather than head shots
This looks soooo fun... This should be a sport!!!$$$$
great vid...but would help a lot if you list the makes and model info of the gear used....what camcorder is it, is it 0lux or can you use a 3lux or higher....more info please
Brilliant!! I've been looking at $2,000 dollar night vision scopes on the internet, glad I saw this.
Awesome video, i used this video and i now have a setup for a springer air rifle.
I would like to add that you don't need a IR laser, you could have a Nitecore CI6 flashlight for about €80.
If you want to see my setup, send me a message.
Mike NL is your setup still ok, being a springer with the vibration/recoil?
Hi would it be possible for you to put a parts list up please
That music is awesome
Hi does the camera need to be night vision to start with or any camera with ir torch
The camera has to be NV, and then throw as much IR on it that you can. / Charlie
Excellent work.... Keep it up.
hahaha i want more videos of this
NICE SHOOTING BUT IT WAS TO SHORT
where did u buy lens cap for camera
I got mine a few weeks ago and it's been awesome! Stupidly accurate for an air rifle.
makes me nostalgic for the couple of times I had an awesome air rifle, but didn't have the money to keep them
Camper!!
Gustavo Nascimento haha lol
Gustavo Nascimento é uai kkkkk

Camper... that made me chuckle... DBS.... "... dirty back shooter... Kill them Rat bastards... Ps love the child friendly music... nice touch... 😂😂😂😂... boom head shot you dead Roland... 👍👍👍👍

Good shooting. Actually very good for a low budget setup.
Sniper and spotter using a budget night vision setup: i love it!
You guys are awesome!
I agree !!!!
Rat shooting looks fun
"He's camping on the roof bro dont peek."
Bro:
where did you place the shots? I think I saw most of them behind the shoulder (aiming for the heart and lungs?)
Great video!
Didn't expect a Top Gun reference.
PS; Less taking. More shooting
i want the commentator to say, "Welcome to Forza 5"
what type/ series of that sony handycam?
This was insanely entertaining
that was s lot of rats
lol as expected
haters are here.. ready to pounce at evil humen trying to save their property from "innocent and unarmed animals"
Snowflake
They're hypocrites who would change their tune in a second if rats infested and destroyed THEIR property, but since it's someone else's they care not.
I have this exact camera and I have just sorted my set up . Only problem I have is the crosshairs jumping around when I scan around. How do you get rid of this ? I have turned off autofocus but still seems to do it !!
Rhys Morgan what kind of camera is it you have...i want one..
How far can you see and aim the target with this device?
Yeah. Rats suck. They found a way into my garage and into my tractor... found in cabin a lot of shredded foam/sound isolation and rat shit (smells horrible). They messed up tractor's electronics. One got stuck cabin's frame pipes and f*cking died. I'll have to remove the roof just to get it out.. I'm officially a rat hater now...
this shit is hilarious
What's the name of the music played in this video?
Are the unlicensed rifles powerful enough to kill rats or do I need to go all out?
+Baerchenization Yes sub 12 ft/lb is fine. / Charlie
Ah cheers. I was talking about this with a German friend the other day and he mentioned that in Britain, air guns legally have, or can have, a lot more power than in Germany... so I was wondering where the 12 ftlb fall in to. I just looked this up and it seems with that, the British limit is more than twice the German limit. But I guess still not enough to send a rabbit to heaven?
buy a hatsan and change the restriction valve for 10 euro and you have 50 ftlb inoffically ofcourse. not that i have done this but i have friends that have. :)
In the US I don't know if there is a power limit. The air rifle I have can do 40 foot pounds energy that can take down large racoons
Always go all out. No matter what. The effects are *amazing*.
Wow come to America and clear all 50 states
No uptown newyork the sewer swamps
a silencer is a costly affair in the US this airgun have one.
I live in the state of NJ....a gun permit is required for anything that "launches" a projectile. so even a slingshot requires a permit....don't ever believe america is free. it's a really nice smoke and mirrors trick
Jason Shaw move to texas
An airgun silencer is NOT an NFA item and doesn't require any payment (other than the actual purchase cost)... Actual firearm silencers are another matter...
great it reminded me off old tv program the golden shot .bernie the bolt
whats the make a nd model number of the camera as I want to get a vid cam with night vision. Cheerrs Tom
+Tom Sheehy The camera is a cheap Sony that does NV. It's the IR array that's special. Just IR and lots of it. / Charlie
I wish I could kill animals. This looks like a good bit of fun but I couldn't kill a fly.
faultroy So we start shooting Ebola victims then?
Only guns British can have...
Where is the link in description for the cheap camera setup?
Nice work,very enjoyable
Ohhhh GOD...
Jerry is killed... so no more "Tom & Jerry" anymore...
I hope we dont end up with only air rifles in the states bc of obama, feinstein and pierce morgan. Btw...will yall take pierce back plz? Lol
what's the name of night vision u using in this video?
wat type of night light is that on the scope
