- Discovered a long lost gold dredge and a well worked valley out by Whiskey Creek BC which is located just past Barkerville and Woss. This whole Cariboo mining district was booming back in the gold rush.
the Barkerville townsite is located outside of Quesnel British Columbia in the heart of the Caribou Gold Fields.
Just want to let you know it is actually Cariboo not Caribou. Cool video though! It is not to far from where I live.
Thanks, my bad 😔
The dredge isn't the only buried treasure, worked for a Quesnel Equip dealer in late 70s 80s and saw lots of cash buried in the gravel searching for that lost motherlode, still happens to this day, come with cash, leave with tucked tail, bruised ego.
Now the Barkerville, Wells is under threat of wildfires.
These fires are really strange. I hope it doesn't affect the townsite, Barkerville is incredible!!
@@explorerryan I live in Wells and work in Barkerville. They got quite a bit of rain last night. I'm having to watch this video from a hotel in PG because of the evacuation. The fire is really close to Barkerville.
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope they manage to save the towns. Might need to get some of those old monitors going.
I knew i recognized that road , on the way to cunningham and antler creek
Nice one, did you do any panning back there?
@@explorerryan my partner has a claim at Cunningham Creek, so we drive thru there to get to his claim. It sure is beautiful country back there 🙂
How is it out there. I know there are a few solid looking mine operations back there. Did you ever read the book Gold Seekers?
@@explorerryan there were many operations, several smaller ones and a few larger ones. I think that no one can get in there atm due to the fires. Hope things don't get messed up too bad...
@@explorerryan ...and i do not think i read that book, but i will look for it
Whiskey flats viewing area.
Another example of industry leaving waste for the taxpayer to pay for clean up.
To be fair, the dredge is all metal and wood now so I'm sure nature will take care of it. Plus it's a cool historical relic.
Fret not. Humanity is long gone. Humans shall shortly follow and then all will be well again.
That’s still cool
In the video it's obvious the dredging equipment has been removed and all that's left is the wooden barge it was installed on.
@@damagein68 I agree and I was replying to the guy said it's a mess for the taxpayer to clean up and by the way I'm a British Columbia taxpayer
