Appart from the Epoxy and the catalyzer, which other component did you add to the mix? Did you use a special water resistant resin or with an average infusion/lamination resin is it more than enough?
I used an UV stabilizer that I inserted with the surringe. So that the resin doesn’t go yellow in the sun. On the deck I also added black pigment because the carbon weave wasn’t tightly woven. It was a little bit see through. So I used the black colour to tint the white foam.
Carbon fiber stringer in a carbon fiber laminate board. Seems redundant. Was there a reason to do the extra step. Also there is another youtuber that does his own eps blanks but uses a heated wire to cut/melt the foam along the edge of his wood ply rocker plan shapes. Seems to save a lot if time. I plan on using the idea myself... one day.... soon!
Hi! The carbon stringer is overkill, but I build this board for a guy who always demolishes his boards. So he agreed on a little less flex and more strength/durability. This was one of the first boards I made. I now use a hotwire as well. Check out my newer video’s to see how I improved my process.
I will make a video in the near future about my vacuum setup. But basically it's a vacuum pump with a sensor that shuts the pump down when a certain vacuum is reached. I bought the whole set second hand, so I don't know the brand of the sensor etc.
Thanks! My vacuum systems keeps the pressure around -0,5 bar. But it’s really hard to read on the meter. Basically you vacuum bag works if its pressing the carbon against the foam, doesn’t really matter how hard it pushes.
Very good question! I was waiting for this one. I put several layers of the green tape on top of each other, so you can see a ridge under the carbon when it’s cured.
@@Bido11561 it’s called fineline tape. I buy it at an online store. They have it in 3 sizes. 3mm is the smallest. Thats perfect for pinlines. Its very flexible tape for taping curves. polyestershoppen.nl/hulpmaterialen/fineline-tape-186.html?queryId=cd9a98e70a4706f2ad99dd8a1fa67cc2
I made this board years ago when I wasn’t confident enough about making voiceovers. I’m making another carbon board video as we speak, so I will do some explanation for you guys! Thanks for the comment! I’m trying to improve with every vid!
Vent that board ASAP. EPS doesn't matter how dense it is, it off gas and that one being black/carbon even worst. Nice shape BTW!
It has a vented leash plug.👍👍
@@Dzjiefoils Nice! Those are so expensive!
I bought them at Greenlight surf supply. But It looks a lot better than a separate vent plug in the board.

awesome video brah! did u p
ut a layer of regular glass over each carbon layer >?
No, just the carbon

Definitely go and start making your own boards! But beware!!! It’s very addicting
nice job can i see what pump setup your runninh?

Hello, I follow you and you making nice video. How many PSI or BAR you need to vaccum the board ?
Thanks! My vacuum systems keeps the pressure around -0,5 bar. But it’s really hard to read on the meter. Basically you vacuum bag works if its pressing the carbon against the foam, doesn’t really matter how hard it pushes.
what carbon fiber weight and weave is this?
245 g/m2 twill weave
Lekker neef
How did you see your tape line for the cut lap?

@@Dzjiefoils Great idea ! Doing my first carbon board at the moment and didn’t want to have to sand to the tape , less sanding the better 😉
What kind of tape are you using? Almost looks like electrical in the video…

Have a carbon board and I will never order/paint another board in black I can feel the wax melt even in the water (tropical temp)
Yes, same here! It’s very unpractical. Luckily it’s not my board. Haha.
tons of waste…there must be a better way. let the innovation continue.
Yeah, you mean the peelply and the absorber cloth? I also feel sad to use this for only 24h and throw it away.
Would have been a good video if you had explained what you were doing and why. So you couldn’t be bothered wont won’t hit like.
