    Gun-defence has always confused me. It's a gun. Why would someone point their weapon at you from cuddle range? As opposed to an extra meter away? It's such a weirdly niche situation, even in the US, where everyone and their dog apparently have guns.

      Proper self defence teachers say fighting a gun is only if you’re gonna die anyway, such as if they’re gonna kidnap you
      It’s less “this would work” and more “this is the best chance you have of not dying”, and it unfortunately does rely a lot on the person with the gun making some kind of mistake, such as getting too close to their unarmed victim

    • @Cailus3542
      @Cailus3542 2 месяца назад +5

      @@shinjiikari1021 Often enough for any of this to be applicable? It also has the slight problem that by going for the gun, you're escalating into lethal force. You've given up trying to calm the gunman down and are choosing to attack them. If anything goes wrong, it turns into a brawl, and the chance that the gun fires goes up. It might hit you. It might hit them. It might hit the pregnant woman fifty feet away.
      Sorry if I sound preachy. The idea of actually trying this is terrifying.

    I did a bit of Krav Maga along with my karate training. The guy who taught me karate first also taught me Krav. I found that I preferred karate, as though Krav Maga addresses more real world situations, it doesn’t have the level of resistance training and sparring that karate and other martial arts have. If Krav Maga started to pressure test a bit more, I reckon it could be a lot more effective than the current form of Krav Maga.

      @@nathearn if you train the proper things relevant to the situation correctly they will not only stick with you but they will actually be enhanced under those circumstances. But that is seldom going to be the case, it's still however true lol. (For short that is if they have actually developed and trained useful instincts into strong weapons, rather than having some "brilliant" game plan worked out. That's a primary difference between "sport fighting" and "martial arts". Sporting styles are obviously heavily planned out and thought based whereas martial styles are highly centered around instincts and instinctual movements.

    That Gun (To the head) defense one kinda made sense. Of course as a martial artist I know I'm not bullet proof and I plan on owning a gun, living in a state with less gun laws, and also using martial arts. If a guy has a gun to you, assume that they can and will shoot you cos it doesn't take that long to pull a damn trigger. Someone has a glock to your head, Duck down and push away the gun and try to buy time for you to pull out your own gun (Maybe low kick to groin then high turn kick to the head) and then aim and shoot. In a world where guns are the most dangerous tool a human has access to, you have to know how to use guns and martial arts.
    I sound so cringe rn but someone who knows how to use a gun is ultimately not as strong as someone who can use martial arts and gun alternatively in a situation.
    I could be wrong and if ya'll got any opinions or constructive critiques on this idea I'd appreciate that.

    A thing that I do not get about "gun" defense is the fact that most people do not even think about the fact that the shot is going to startle you even if you manage to avoid being hit, especially at close distance, making it quite unrealistic to be able to disarm the offender with proper timing and dynamics... sure, you can train your reaction with a blank pistol, but your eardrums ar not going to like that anyhow, or you can pretend to have refined your movements enough and just hope your body doesn't freeze at the sound of the gunshot

  • @eranshachar9954
    @eranshachar9954 2 месяца назад +8

    As a native to Hebrew I can tell you that Krav Maga means contact fight. By not translating what it means they have this demeanor of "unbeatable" in their eyes because it sounds cool. If you are close to the one pointing the gun at you- Sure you can try if you feel crazy enough in the moment and it might work sometimes. However as you said nobody can guarantee your attacker will just stand there and let you disarm him. My Sifu told us about a gun better to surrender or only to attack if someone can distract the gunner. Also a smart gun user will keep his distance when aiming.
    The 2nd video was honestly weird and worse. If I was the shooter and saw someone try to do it I would pull the trigger anyway.

    as an israeli i feel people should be reminded that krav maga is not a martial art. it's a system to teach soldiers hand to hand combat as effectively as possible within few days while mostly teaching them aggression. usually it's not meant to be learned over years or to be used in a mma fight. most of the modern soldier's training is using weapons. they have very little time to teach hand to hand combat as a soldier is not supposed to fight without a weapon. so it's really basic and used mostly for teaching aggression and giving the soldier confidence he has some skill in a worst case scenario, if he would be seperated from his weapon in a life or death situation. it's not fair or sporty. throwing dirt in your opponents eyes, if posiible, is a must. remember you're fighting for your life against someone motivated to kill you. when you put krav maga against any other martial art, taking in consideration you have a couple of days to teach an untrained person how to fight with no weapons, it beats practically any martial art. but if you train for mma or sports fighting, or you got more than few days to learn a martial art, many other martial arts will serve you better.😮

Judo will help you dispatch them fast. Karate would rely on powerful strikes to end the fight and not everyone can do that. Judo is good. You're lucky

    The best self defense tip against a gun, unless your only option is to defend yourself, don't fight back. 99/100 times, they will shoot before you can grip the gun. Don't think you're faster than the guy who is calm, has a clear advantage, and is prepared, while you're in the most stressful situation of your life.

    I don't agree with the head movement. It's slower and harder to duck than it is to tilt your head to the side. Plus, ducking down will reduce the power you can put into the groin kick, AND, if you're not fast enough (And you probably aren't) if the shooter fires, that bullet is going right into the top of your skull. Worse yet, that pose would make it extremely hard to see what you're doing, you're practically grabbing for the weapon BLIND. Horizontal movement would at least give a chance that you'd instead get shot in the cheek and not your brain pan. It'd be far easier for you to tilt your head out of the way and pair that with arm movement to try and intercept the opposing tracking of the attacker to get out of the line of fire without compromising your balance. With one hand on the attacker's arm/gun (Grabbing the chamber to prevent it from firing more than once, because chances are your opponent will be able to pull the trigger, you'd best be used to having loud sounds go off right beside your ear) you'd be in a better position to deliver a knee to the groin, which would generate far more power and pain. You can't count on a quick front kick to stun your opponent long enough to grab away a weapon, but delivering enough force to pop a testicle, that's going to take a lot more fight out of him.

    First of all, can you do a master Wong reaction video? Mainly cuz I’m interested in what your thoughts are. Also when it comes to gun self defense, there’s virtually no self defense. The best thing you can do is give them what they want and you’ll be ok. But if they are after you specifically, think on why they want your life so bad. And if all odds are stacked way too much, then that Krav Maga guy is the most legit guy I have ever seen in all of RUclips and I seen some doable moves. That guy was the most practical guy so far and that’s just by the one video. And as for Master Wong, I am a student of his and I admit he went through a lot of emotions through the years but his core beliefs of self defense and wanting people to protect themselves never wavered. So I’m super curious about your thoughts mate and I can’t wait if you do plan to post a master Wong video.

    Guys the best self defence ever for guns or so is to just give the person what they want whether it’s money or so cause usually a person who holds a good would be at a distance from you. Just follow what they say cause your life is important and don’t try and act like some hero.

    • @zcqtt
      @zcqtt 2 месяца назад +1

      True, but in these situations it’s mugging. Nobody’s going to be in a situation most likely where they’re having a military grade gun fired from a distance at them, and then this wouldn’t even be applicable. Nobody who’s ever had real experience with a gun is going to be mugging you 9/10, and if you’re in this situation in the first place they’re not going to have a military grade gun, it’s going to a handgun/pistol. Mugging is a lot more common than you would think, but still unlikely for most. So, martial arts can still be applied in a mugging situation, or just self defense in general.
