Remember that it's a race vehicle, but also a fully equipped mobile workshop. Have a look at these in the desert rally...
Some are, others were transport ones I think?
@@lordofrims 3 race trucks and 1 support truck, but in race too.
Not all anymore. A class for trucks so they would have support vehicles now. Don't think you would send the support to Goodwood. 😎👍
You got too see the Dakar truck passing a Dakar car at full speed, it's just unbelievable
fx: Jan de Rooy (DAF95) et Ari Vatanen (Peugeot 405 T16) à plus de 200km/h dans le désert... ruclips.net/video/Q9yex4YsgQQ/видео.html
DAF Dakar truck in 1988 passing the lead car of the race. ruclips.net/video/AWCNnlk8rkU/видео.html
It was equipped with two 11.6 litre Engines, 500 HP each. The Truck had a top speed over the 200 KM/H.
It’s an imposing beast for sure, and the appearance is matched by a menacing growl from its huge diesel engine. The turbo-charged 13-litre, six-cylinder Dongfeng Cummins engine, with a switchable intercooler, puts out an enormous 1,150hp, and drinks anything between 100 to 200 litres per 100km - 100 on piste, 200 on sand. Thanks to a 1,000-litre fuel tank situated directly over the rear wheels it can manage a range of anything between 500 to 1,000km, depending on the driving conditions. top speed limited to 87mph
Yes mate, that's what I'm talking about. Dutch loonies!
Kamaz win dakar 18 times, you should see it in desert maraphones(like dakar, silk way etc.) And yeah, kamaz logo also have a horse, but it produced trucks, military venicles and in 90s even small kei kar called oka))))
You should see some of the actual Goodwood races around the Goodwood race track...all sorts of cool old cars RACED VERY HARD !!
Definitely this! Though it'd be somewhat similar to when he saw the Mini taking on old V8 cars in some of the classes, but maybe the real old ones, from like the 19010s, and how they drive even those on the limit. ^^
Something tells me that you'd enjoy some of the videos of Tatra trucks (Czechia) doing their offroad trials. Really strange vehicles, swing axles and air cooled V8 diesels.
a good example of a truck almost winning dakar is in 1988 for a DAF truck TurboTwin X1 beating in circumstances the Peugeot 405s. Sadly too powerfull ending in the death of a crew member and because of that DAF retired from the races. They ended at the 3rd place in general.

Jan de Rooy vs Ari Vatanen.
Two spare wheels are mounted at the rear of the truck, and despite weighing a huge 150kg each. Even the name, the Kamaz Bonnet Truck, is purposeful, denoting the truck’s protruding nose, which is at odds to the flat-faced vehicles usually seen in rally raids.
This bonnet allows a 50:50 weight distribution of its 9.5-ton mass over the front and rear axles, as opposed to 60 in front and 40 at the back usually seen. This serves to improve balance, and lessen the likelihood of rolling nose first over the peak of a dune.
“You can also have more speed on snake roads, and other terrain in the race, because of the 50:50 balance,” Nikolaev explained. and top speed of 87mph and im sure i read somewhere its 5000 torques
This one is the V8 not the inline 6
@@SUPRAMIKE18 that truck has the inline 6..the one were the video originated was wrong
Your ears aren't wrong! It has the Inline 6 engine! Cummins ISZ-13, wich btw has only 450 hp in stock serial version ;) After tuning its gettin 1150 h.p. and 5000Nm. Kamaz goes 0-100km/h (0-60 mph) in 6 seconds! And max speed of 163 km/h (101mph) with 10.2 tonns( 22487,15 pounds of weight)
@Nikin Energizer next to cabin on each side is: powered by LIEBHERR DIESEL.
The suspension is from the Dutch company Reiger. They supply a lot of the contestants/teams in the Dakar, from cars and buggy's to this and other trucks!
I think, in 2001,during Dakar to Egypt, Kamaz hit an old WW2 mine, lost the rear axel... and still won
You should also take a look at the MAN racetruck that came up right next after this one. The Kamaz is a off road truck, the MAN is a race truck (on road). There is also gymkhana videos of the MAN racetruck out there that are crazy!!!
КамАЗ... Легенда..!!!
if you like this video, try searching for Red Bull Kamaz, there's a few different videos with the Kamaz Master team where they chase rally cars on rally stages, a thing with that black one doing a thing with Mad Mike Whiddett. The driver of the black Kamaz is multiple time Dakar truck class winner Eduard Nikolaev
Hi Ian. There is footage of the pre-1997 Paris to Dakar Rally on youtube. Also the current Dakar Rally of course. Just thought you'd be interested in some older stuff as well. Cheers mate.
You know a truck is badass when it has it’s own wheelie bar
They race semis on track in Europe its pretty cool to watch them race fast too
In the Dakar desert phase, all the big boys race in an awesome display
Fun thing about that drift car
It’s a Lexus RC F with a supercharged Toyota UR V8, which is from the same family of engines as the ones used in that Toyota Hilux rally/Dakar vehicle you liked so much
You're not alone in making this mistake - but those are STRAW bales, not hay!!
got to remember too with all this power there actual have amazing range look at stage 4 this year on dakar rally its 465 km long stage that these beasts run, the rally it self is 8,375km over Fourteen days of dunes, fast straight tracks, rocky sections of stages its insane the punishment these trucks, cars and bikes go though with the event
The Big Trucks are speed limited by the rules. Years back, before this was in place, and when Dakar actually still went to Dakar, Ari Vatanen in a factory Peugeot blitzing across a (not quite) flat and a bloke in an DAF goes cruising past. But then, as the trucks were supposed to be "support" and started last, and were filtering forward, there were some incidents, and some spectacular crashes, so they went with the speed limiters, like road racing the big rigs has (100mph iirc) for added safety, and to prevent the top stars in the top classes being passed by the things on while on TV
Oh, you should see when they actually race these things. This one is tiny. They have 8x8 ones that they rip like little dune buggies. It's nuts.
Yes more goodwood content!! The kick of the event is definetly the full timed shootout. Where the cars get gradually faster and crazier, compilations are great but the real full show is the best
Talking about trucks you should check out these Brazilian classes "copa truck" or "formula truck" , copa truck is a newer class the one that originated was formula truck even though they are basically the same thing the formula truck races are a bit more wild, both classes are essentially highly modified semi trucks racing, different from australian's super trucks here we mainly use cab overs, commonly from Volkswagen and Mercedes, they are capable of 1200 horsepower, they are so fast that in the rules you can get a penalty for going over a certain speed limit, I also recommend watching the races that take place in the interlagos track, I think you would like it.
I don't know what is fast for a truck. Kamaz trucks at the Dakar usually finish with an overall time that would place them somewhere 7th-10th place among the supposedly much faster cars. This year the 10th car had a time of 41h 35min, the top Kamaz 41h 37min. The top 4 trucks were all Kamaz. Kamaz trucks so far have won the annual Dakar Rally 19 times out, of 41 Rallies. Since 2000 they did not win only 4 times.
What a monster!
I love your reactions man, keep it up, I suggest watching Goodwood hill climb highlights from each year, they race every kind of car from every time period and every category!!
Check the Dakar 1988 DAF X1 Twin Turbo race truck... This thing was faster then normal race cars... Twin turbo means here... Two trubo charged engines... 🤷♂️
It's only a tiny little vid but I highly recommend searching for the Daf Turbo Twin vs a Peugeot Rally car. It's a clip from 1988 but back in the day there was a lack of rules considering trucks so that thing had a higher top speed across the desert than a full blow rally car. Still blows my mind when I see it..
My personal favourite Goodwood moment was Dougie Lampkin vs Goodwood house!
KamAZ wasn't with a crocodile cabin (that for sure UNIMOG of Mercedes cabin). And it is for sure has a Cummins diesel engine 800hp+
Usually KamAZ won a Paris-Dakkar Rally
We're off to The Goodwood Festival of Speed this June, my third time. It's absolutely awesome. If it's got wheels it'll be there....
You should check out videos from Goodwood Revival. It's a sort of sister event to this one which is the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The reason I love Goodwood Revival is that they have these awesome head to head races where they race everything from early 20th century cars, to classic GTs, touring cars, '30s grand prix cars, early '60s F1 cars... It's awesome.
you should check out the Dakar race, they have motorcycles, cars (SUV), and trucks racing... the race starts on January 1, every year
loved your reaction, when this was going round you looked like a kid in a sweet shop/candy store
Used to go to Goodwood before it was renovated and upgraded...was only a nice cycle ride away. They used to hold Sportcar owner club meets..Get to see Porsche's, Ferrari's, Aston Martin's, De Tomaso's, Bugatti's, Jaguars, Lamborghini's, AC Cobra's...lots of fun stuff.
Please do more on Goodwood,it's 10 mins from me,loving your content 🙏
Festival of Speed is always something I gladly have on the TV all day long. It's again in the end of june.
There's Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place in the grounds of Goodwood House, the home of Lord Richmond, Earl of March, where this was filmed.
Also, there's Goodwood Revival, which takes place the Goodwood Racing Circuit, as does the Members' Meeting.
All these events have been live streamed on the "Goodwood Road & Racing" RUclips channel in the past.
Well worth checking out the channel in your off-screen time.
A lot of us in England run the 12 valve Cummins in our trucks because we can get them for two a penny from in our ex military trucks like the Leyland DAF and usually with only about a hundred hours on them (brand new) add a bigger turbski and you got 700 bhp for under two grand and not just some torque but all the torque! So yeah I bet that V8D friggin moves some 😍👌mint
Even better is seeing these large trucks in for example Dakar rally conditions on rough road dirt and sand.
It actually says 12.5 liter Diesel V8 right there in the title my friend =)
also good dakar truck vid to check out is " That Time A Kamaz Truck Did The Unimaginable " some great footage and a start has a brake down of the trucks parts and power
Goodwood is on my bucket list 🇭🇲
Kamaz is best truck i remember these but lot older going in 90s in russian forests and driving practicly under water
I'm with you all the way on the Dakar trucks. And your guess a the price is pretty much spot on.
Those things built for straight torture in deserts, couple hill climbs here and there is noothing but keeping them up and running :D
If that thing loses control it's going straight through those hay bales and ending up in the next town over xD
Great video! Just wanted to point out that an 23.5R25 tire for an wheel loader is about 750lbs, so i don´t think the wheels on this truck is over 1000lbs as they are WAY smaller. Even with the rims.
Now that's 10tuns of fun! Nice
That truck is crazy cool.
Love your Channel!!}
They're the support vehicles for the Dakar cars and bikes, that's why they have to be fast.
Please react to "Take a closer look at the Kamaz Rally Trucks" & "How different countries react to sirens"
You will have to attend the Goodwood event, it's probably the coolest motorsport event in the world, all the F1 drivers past and present attend, it's like a motorsport holiday, cars from every era of motorsport is in attendance and race up the hill
You NEED to check out Chuckle's Garage run at Pike's Peak in his 1200hp Cummins-powered 1949 F1 named Old Smokey if you like trucks doing things they were never designed to do! From the actual Pike's run, to Goodwood, the Hoonigan's lot and several track videos, there's a ton of dope content on the truck in it's various forms it's taken over the years!
More of this would be good! ❤️🇦🇺
It looks like the Australian Bushmaster built for the Australian Army, built in Bendigo Victoria by Thales.
@IWrocker the engine is US LIEBHERR, the truck is russian KAMAZ
Need to check them Kamaz going flat out at the Dakar
Check out Jan Derooy with his DAF truck 88 or 89 ...when i was a kid 10y old i was at the start in Paris and i have a picture of it at his tyres ...they re where two cabines in front and back ...speed 200km or 125mph on sand crazy...
The phrase “eat my dust” has quite literally become a thing now
You should watch the Tank biathlon, 50 ton machines flooring it @ 50 mph. It's really cool.
Fun fact, Goodwood is an hour from where I live haha🤟🤟
Festival of speed is a highlight of the year for me!
what i noticed going to america is that you live in a bubble... the rest of the world is interconnected and does the same kind of sports and activities like rallies for example... including Paris Dakar which is the most difficult rally raid in the world where this kind of trucks and even more powerful ones do incredible things .... by the way ... the word rally comes from the French word "rallier" or join in english ... the first race in the world took place between Paris and Rouen ... the competitors had to "join" Paris to Rouen ...
... not sand bagging? Sir, this is THE FESTIVAL OF SPEED. He way over throttled for the spectators. These truck hit your "big river crossing" like Stone Cold Steve Austin hits 2 Coors Lights.
Also worth checking out are Tatra trucks, very much "go anywhere".
The guy behind that wheel is called Eduard Nikolaev. There are more videos of him doing epic stuff in these trucks on here. You can check these out, if you want to have some fun. But make sure to read up on his biography as well. Pretty interesting.
The Goodwood festival of speed has everything from vehicles of the 20's and 30's to modern day supercars and everything in between
It's an in-line 6 engine.
This suspension is tuned for tarmac. Originally it has like 1 meter of travel, like one wheel can be on top of Ferrari sf90 and other 3 can be on the road
If you like trucks racing, you need to see the european truck racing championship ;)
If you want more trucks, take a look at european truck racing, there are some great action. And in scandinavia we have a motorsport called folkrace, an amature class with cars built for short heats and close racing. All cars entering a race is automaticly fore sale and will change hands for 800 dollars after all racing is done. This is to keep cost down and cars equal in performance.
gday mate, watch the Daker Rally see these beasts in there proper enviroment.keep up the good work.
You gotta see them race the dakar rally, these things jump like motocross bikes
for some reason this reminds me when Renault took their F1 car and put the parts in a mini-van :D It looked like the van was recorded and playedback in fastforward. (edit: its on youtube!, renault espace f1 its called.
4th time begging for you to check out "DAF TurboTwin 1988" by Buferka. its short but hella sweet and shows the origin of these crazy fast Dakar T4 trucks.
I wish we had more production car races here with random JDM cars and stock American cars...would be pretty cool. But on tracks like in Europe.
You definitely need to watch some Dakar mate👍
In Dakar the entrants know to get out of the way of these beasts, they pass everything..
01:52 stop ther video and look above front wheel ..Yes it is TWO suspensions with springs . Suspensions work travel are 1200mm / 47 inches !
That truck straight ACCELERATES up hill in like 3rd gear. It's still pickin up speed. That's some shit
You should check out some videos of Mike Ryan's Pike's Peak Hillclimb Freightliner. It's powered by a 2400hp Detroit
This is speed and sound
It looked to be in only 2WD, hence the slides, also those twin shocks, it's built to jump big time.
Don't be DAFT . Definitely 4 Drive .
when they are in full flight at dakkar they are great
There is a video on RUclips from dakar from the 90s where a truck passee a car full speed. The truck was faster than most cars in that time. In the 90s dakar had combined competition between cars, trucks, bikes and quads that truck was 3rd overal i think. Sadly there were only 2 of those trucks and 1 roled over full speed killing all passengers. Pulling the 2nd car out of competition. The video of the truck passing the car you can find if you seek de rooy truck passing car dakar. Hoop you enjoy.
Edit: the video is cald de rooy vs ari vertanen
You should see the tire changes, If they blow a tire, the CREW needs ti change the tire themselves without any outside assistance. Like on soft sand in desert.
Only thing what I miss from russia is Kamaz. They make badass looking trucks!
Targa Tas just finished the footage should be out soon, we had a fatality this year unfortunately
4 deaths in last 2 events.
You should check out Krosscart rally. Pretty much gocarts with street bike engines in them
just search for videos of : Gerard de Rooy .
his father Jan de Rooy himself participated in the 1980s with a truck with 2 cabins, 1 forward and 1 back.
Wow a 12.5 litre V8, it must have pistons as wide as dinner plates.
Ian you can watch these racing off-road on PARIS TO DACA INDURANCE RACING
You have to check out the Australian super truck racing. It's wild
Check out the Taylor racing truck at Goodwood
take a look at mad mike at goodwood, love his cars
Why not come over to the UK and take in Goodwood Festival of speed, Goodwood Revival, Isle of Man TT races, maybe a round of the British Touring Car Championships, and a Rally.in the British Championships.
Check out Paris Dakar Rally, there you got a whole category of these trucks:D enjoy!
Check out the rigs at the Wild Dog winch challenge.
You should look at jan de rooy in dakar that was crazy he was so fast
