Also, why do you not have an adjustable valve that just turns up the flame from 0-100 and you dial in a continuous flame that'll just keep you approximately level, then you use that as altitude trim and your blast valve as up and another valve to turn it down as your down?
@@scottmcgrew4895 "uncanny" is how I'd put it. 20 min into an hour flight he can look up at a balloon and say "Yeah, trade-zone..." or "big Johnson" and dang if he isn't right or pretty darn close.
Once you get your pilot license, can you rent a hot air balloon and if so, what does it normally cost? I'm thinking of going for my pilot license, but I'd rather rent than buy my own.
GoPro Hero 8 with an upgrade to the Enduro battery and a 512GB micro SD card. I now use a GoPro Hero 9 with an external battery plugged in for higher resolution / even longer flights.
Dave taught me early on about maintaining level flight with short / frequent burns. It’s really a learned feeling to know when to burn as the balloon is cooling / before letting the balloon descend. One of the more difficult skills to learn for me.
@@scottmcgrew4895 well an amazing job learning this i fly rc hot air balloons and want to get into flying real balloons soon.. do you have a discord or somthing were I can dm you
Very nicely done! Reminds me of my intro lesson with Balloon Ranch, back in the late 70s. Lots of fun!
At first I could not figure who was the traner and the student but now I understand
I’m going to be learning to fly balloons and found the mentoring on fuel leaks to be really great!
Tyler Mac I’m taking you boys or men in my railway
Very Cool flight! :)
The fact that you can't steer these things at all is hilarious to me.

...and thanks to Travis' excellent chasing/driving skills the crew was right there to "catch" Scott! ;-)
Travis is pretty darned amazing, to be sure.

Nice landing!

Hi from Belgium, man.
What type of gloves do you use for piloting?
Those are Jacques Picard signature series balloon gloves 😉

@@scottmcgrew4895 Thank you!. Last question what is the size of the balloon you and dave are flying?

What makes the balloon rotate in the air? First you rotated to the left, then you rotated to the right.
Turning Vents
where can I find hot air balloon schools in northern Illinois?
How was the landing? You are ready for your checkride🙂
The landing was good. The battery died on the GoPro. I passed my check ride back in October!
@@scottmcgrew4895 how many flights you had before checkride?
As im watching this how did you know when to burn

I think I’d be more comfortable if that basket was a little taller 🙄
The newer models have higher baskets.
