Hi Leonard. Thank you for this great tip. I got some issue with the springs (3) in the tremolo of my Mexican Stratocater anytime I depress the bar for pitch down. That was really annoing. Same terrific same noise as when you open an old rusty door.
I did your trick and that fixed my issue.
Anyway, what I've noticed is that changes the sound of the guitar. Usually, when you hit the strings muted and stop right away. We can usually notice a reverberation given by the springs. Typical with any trem with springs as the Statocaster or others. With your trick. No reverberation anymore.
Something that anyone would like to make this "transformation" have to be aware.

I have a PRS SE Standard. The springs don't make any noise when I'm playing but whenever I use the trem it makes a weird "boing" spring sound. Any idea why? And how to fix it?

I was trying to put hose in mine and I couldn't get it to fit. Now I see I should have cut it then inserted it. I ended up using some cable.

Just lay a bit of foam under the springs.
