Just got mine and I gotta say I can't stop playing with it. It's an amazing figure the design, the quality and the esthetic and fortunately I had no QC issues. You definitely can tell that they put a lot of love into it. Truly a masterpiece I honestly don't think Takara could do better. Fanstoys and now mmc/ocular max going to fill my Mp shelf.

HOLY CRAP this figure puts the official Tracks to shame! I took a look at the price points and this guy is only like $8 more...WTF HasTak??? Good idea reviewing in this order, it really shows how far 3rd party has come and HasTak has slipped.
Now if only the 3rd party Classics would get this close in price...

Great review. That cutaway had me in the floor. I have yet to buy a third party figure but love to see the innovation on these figures from each company's perspective. Mirage is one of my favorite autobots and I think Takara will have to bring their a game to beat this guy. Not to mention they may have trouble with licensed logos and whatnot. I did notice they didn't leave space for a repro autobot logo which is kind of strange given the attention put into the figure. Thanks!

I never really handled my TFCon exclusive (no bragging intended) so I decided to take him out of the display, and I had to watch this review at the same time. Before you mentioned it, I had noticed that there was a lot of diecast in the figure as opposed to it being all in the feet like most figures. Good catch there

I bought the cel version a few days ago. I’m currently waiting for it to ship.
Ugh... used with chrome or the new "cel" version (toon colors) ... no chrome all white. The chrome is nice but think I'll save $75 and get the hang glider as well (comes with the cel version)
Mine just broke, went on eBay to look for another and the cheapest is £120, that's £35 more than I paid in the first place, looks like I'm out of luck.

Aww! I just got the reissue and it doesn't look anywhere near as good as this. No chrome, no Gooyear on the tyres and almost none of the painted detail and logos. Ordered the Toyhax sticker kit to compensate.
my sphinx had a discoloration.. the blue became like a dark blue green
I don't understand the complaints around the shoulder panels. The g1 toy had those, the g1 show had those, and the g1 marvel comics had those. Why would they do it any way other than that?

Still one of the best MP mirages even after all of these years. The only thing that hasn’t aged well is the feet. The spoiler is on my copy is a little too loose on mine and the the wheels should’ve had something underneath it in robot mode so it can be more stable

Clearly, Sphinx is superior to Invisible, but.... man, is his head HUGE! o_0 You don't see that? If one could say that Invisible has a small head, one would also have to point out the large head on Sphinx...
Also, the added driver? That's awesome. It's too bad he's not painted (or that there's a painted option), as I think a realistic driver might look better on a shelf (and I like my stuff in alt mode when possible).
this is still one of the best 3p pieces to date

hey BSF!! hows it go bro!! just wanted to say i just got sphinx yesterday,,...and OMFG HE IS AMAZING!!! great product, no QC issues, excellent paint and minimal use of die cast, but in important places. he is FUCKING MIRAGE!!!! and as always i watched your video for transformation, so thanks man!! now mp27 ironhide, mp30 ratchet, FT Willis, FT Forager are next on my list!! and i have FT Spotter coming to me soon!! 2016 seems like a great year my man! take care !

15:41 YAY I'VE CONVERTED YOU TO THINKING THAT ROBOTS ARE ROBOTS AND NOT HUMANS!!! Now if only if I could convince IDW of that. Seriously with this CNA shit? Way to cheapen the Transformers universe by making them biological like most other franchises. Transformers has a lot of plot holes, them being robots isn't one of them. With CNA, how they assassinated Star Sabers character and how they made Bumblebee turn into Goldbug just like in the Marvel comics (which undoubtably, is the best iteration of him and has absolutely non of the drawbacks of the cartoon BB) only to kill him off again quickly after really makes me not want to read IDW. I do like how they had Megatron turn into an Autobot, that took some real fucking balls. Sorry about the tirade.

I just got Sphinx 01A version. Wow! I don't know what my hesitation was with the first release. I wish the official versions were this clever and sturdy. I look forward to their Hound.

I'm 99% sure this guy is as good as bought, my only concern has been the soft fuzzy look to his 26 because of the outline. This one reminds me of Quakewave and Takaras Shockwave in the aspect of quality. Takara gets the look perfect, but will it be a better actual toy quality/design wise? Because Sphinx really nails the overall look.

"Hey Mac" three questions: 1)On the front nosecone, the front wings. Do they retract in? Looks like they may slide in. 2) Can you attach the chute in alt mode. Kinda like how dragsters have. 3)Near the end, looking at the chest. Is the red pin stripes carried over from the white background onto the blue edges, Or is that just lighting or something in the video?

Instructions? We don't need no stinking instructions. Actually, I always use the instructions because I am so afraid of breaking my new figures. I don't know if Takara will come out with a MP Mirage, but I get the feeling it will be inferior to this one. BTW I don't see your comments popping up anymore in response to other people's comments. Did you turn that feature off or something?

Bobby, the 26 flaps can be moved up and they will click into place ^_^ the sliding panels on his arms are supposed to be at the back of his arms too! Other wise he's a perfect figure to me! I'm having troubles removing his facesculpt to change his face though, do you have any troubles with that? I could really use some advice ^_^

Manuals and Directions aren't really needed it's just their for reference points to be honest. I've never really used them either I've always found its better to just do it. You know? I mean it's okay if you have 40 screws left over from an IKEA shelf.
I really like this transformer it really looks good in both vehicle and robot mode. I don't buy many but if I had the opportunity I would definitely add this one to my collection.

wow, I'm not even much of Mirage fan but I REALLY like this toy, feels like the best take on the character we could get. A comparison between the new and old toy's car modes would have been nice too however.

Hey Skullface, you can push the '26' shoulder pieces upwards and they kinda click into place. Still not the most elegant solution, but it does raise them above the forearms a bit more.

I guess I am in the minority but when you put him up against Invisible I had the opposite thought as you as I though Invisible looked great and made this look really derpy, but choices right. Anyway love the reviews even when I disagree, I got a lot of respect for ya, keep it up.

great review, i'm not so bothered about the pieces of the car on the arms, as far as cartoon accuracy this is a far superior figure to the dx9 version. Keep doing what your doing man thank you!!!!
+Hector Calicdan thanks man, i think my issue with the arm panels for me is y were always connected to both the shoulder AND bicep, which isnt possible to get the full articulation, so to see it disconnected with the swivel for articulation just throws me off. cheers buddy
The one thing I hate about this figure is the grey parts which take away from his mirage look for me, totally needed to be blue in my taste. Another thing is his eyes seem always hidden/dark which make it hard to see his face clean. I have the DX9 Invisible and don't feel the need to make the change to this guy.

It looks like a well put together figure and defiantly has like you said a masterpiece look to it and could be a good addition to a collection, I might pick him up. Good review and video keep up the good work

Wasnt gonna get him, but saw it was gonna be another release for him with muted colors, couldnt resist and got him in the mail today. You were almost spot on with your review as expected, thanks!
What bothers me about him is that the shoulder launcher sits too close to the head so hes gonna have trouble looking to the sides with it on, not wanna force him or use the weird neck solution to break the sculpt. Another problem with it is that it should at least be able to tilt a bit so he can aim at the sky and not at someone in his own size. The shoulder pads do annoy abit but to me its the same category as for Grimlock, its part of who Mirage is, kinda dumb idea but to me its shoulder armour. And lastly those tires at the feet, its like hes not gonna just stand there on the shelf since the tires feels a bit too big to make him stable enough, and rubber tires not moving in a long time, its gonna be a flat area soon. But in the end its a homerun from MMC and i hope they soon start to take it easy, my wallet and shelf is suffering too much if i cant evolve a reistance against their products soon.

I absolutely love this figure. Got mine about 2 months ago and I'm very happy with it. My only minor issue is that silly ELL logo on the front. There's no room for the Autobot signal. Any suggestions for removing it?? Great review btw.

Great review as always Skullface! Got mine yesterday. Brings back memories for me. Mirage was the first transformer I got as a kid. Just a heads up, I changed out the face and the back of the head and it's a pain to do. I noticed a pretty big stress mark on the ball peg on the neck afterwards. Smiling face, smiling face!!

I want you to know that I have toiled over this figure for a while. I have DX-9 Invisible and wasnt gonna get this. Then......I saw your review. Which I have watched several times. And the pose at the end that you have this figure in this in, sold me on it. Poor Invisible will get sold once this guy hits my shelf. So in closing, my wallet hates you.........But the collection wants to give you a hug.

It's a good figure, but 1 think that is odd to me, is the license that they have for Gooo Year as opposed to Good Year. I mean, I know why cuz of trademark issues, but I guess it's a good way to pay homage to that company for the tires.
All in all, not a bad figure, regardless, but that QC issue you pointed out, just wish they could've put more into it where it wouldn't have such issues.....then again, I guess no thing's perfect. Lol

+Jordan Harrington yes accept they were always connected to both shoulder and bicep, which would have hindered articulation, which is why i think it should have been rethought a bit

It's a shame about those panels on the arms. I know it's G1 toy accurate, but I agree, they should tab in or have an option to collapse or something.
Overall, a great looking figure. Not sure if I will get their Inferno or XTB, but I look forward to seeing what else these guys have for this perfection series.

Soundwave and mirage were the first transformers I got. Before the cartoon even premiered, so they have a special place in my heart. Glad to see they did the character some "justice". Can't wait to get mine! Wish it came with a toy accurate swap out face though. Always liked the half blue face.

I like Invisible's proportions because he somehow is a beefy LeMons transformer. But then again I'm not a fan of the G1 cartoon. There is no excusing what they did to Bumblebee. Nor are there words.
