Morning Miss Bateman I was watching your lesson on country roads. Switching from D to D7. I have found that using your 2&3 fingers and 4th finger for the D chord leaves the ability to go ahead and have the first finger already down on the B chord . It allows you to lift to lift the pinky and be on the D7 just by lifting the pinky. Is this assumption correct?
Hello ma'am new to your channel and I subscribe , coz I like the way you teach your viewer on how to play guitar much better, I hope I can get it well, I love guitar playing but I can't play it so nice just like you do, ... Thank you so much and God bless friend all the way from Philippines ❤
Finally I found ur Yutube channel just now 😅... Ur a great teacher Everyday I will watch ur videos so I can learn how to play guitar. I have guitar but don't know how to play it.. Thank u so much
I’ve found your videos to be the most helpful, easy to watch and encouraging for a guy who has been trying to learn and play for years. I have little patience and have trouble staying focused but coming along thanks to your RUclips channel. Thanks for sharing your skills.
True story. Im age 61 from Sweden, bougt my first guitar summer 2022. Struggled with a few chords, followed some youtube vids. Everything changed, and this i true, when i found L B beginner vids. I havent taken any class from L B, just her free beginner vids, L B somehow made it possiböe for me, to make friend whit the guitar, and made me go from struggle with a few chords, to think in terms of music for my pleasure. Today, I still cant play one single song, but i can, master seven or so, basic chords, fingerpick on a classical and switch to strum on a steelstring.
I’ve played guitar for over 35 years, including a few professionally. But I almost exclusively played electrics, and focused on rock music. I’ve just started playing acoustics seriously for the first time, and I find your videos are extremely helpful. Thank you.
I have had my guitar for 4 weeks and watched you every day since delivery…I have learned the 7 main chords and getting quicker at changing them too 😁…I can pick happy birthday and twinkle twinkle little star and in the mist of learning a thousand years form tabs….i appreciate your RUclips channel sooooooo much! you are the BEST teacher Lauren and I know I will sign up to your course in the near future thank you 🙏🏻 ❤
Hits the spot... just at the right time, will be doing that! (Real probs. putting it all together... then adding the 'FAST', but it's a learning curve!) Really great intuition still of what it's like for learners! 👏
Hi Lauren, Thank you for explaining steps so a beginner can understand (I should say, I'm enrolled in your 7 step course) but still your RUclips videos add so much.
Really simple but helpful strumming video. Accents really do help give flavor and meaning to each chord. My main struggle is to focus on strumming properly, especially if I try to sing, and for me I’ve learned that just going with the flow of it, and not forcing the pattern but building that feeling for your pattern helps more than forcing it
Great stuff, Lauren soon as I’ve perfected the spider exercise l will be enrolling with your course, as you are so easy to understand. Thank you for being here. Paul.
I'm struggling with my strumming really but I think that's common for a beginner like me 😊so your video such as this one really hepls a lot. 😊😊thanks ❤ keep it up.
Thank you very much for your very nice tips, I had learned a lot in your channel, I am a very poor guitar player at the age of 56, but I am improving watching your tutorials and I'm going to play guitar on my channel soon, Thank you for sharing this nice video of yours.
You're very good at what you do, providing tips and lessons. So very helpful, making a difficult song seem like it's easy. That's just how good you are. I'm trying to find a lesson for OtisTaylor's song 'Nasty Letter'. Any chance of providing a video for that?😁
Do you have to use a pick or can you just use your thumb. I feel I am more “in touch” with the guitar w/o the pick. The pick “separates” me from the guitar.
Great lesson! I just started using a pick sometimes but always between thumb and both index and middle fingers, is there a reason you're using your middle finger only? Just found out that full size guitars are called 4/4 (neck width 53mm) and lots and lots of them (especially second hand) are in fact 3/4 (45mm) guitars for starters/kids/women or small build people. So I now bought an acoustic 4/4 guitar with nylon strings and hoping for more progress! Do you have any lessons on playing electric guitars, seeing your Gretsch Electromatic in the back on this vid!
Get four picks of the same type and four different thicknesses. Go thorough the video exercises with each pick. Note the results. Live and learn. Then use what you observed....
To be honest Learning gu itar strumming looks easy but it's hard to play i watch many videos i try many time even now my strumming is not good I hope oneday i can strum perfectly

Yes, you got to go slow at first to sing and play at the same time.
Really good lesson, Lauren!

Lauren, Thank you for putting this in layman’s terms!

Thumb is totally fine, but, I tend to get more dynamics with a guitar pick.
Thank you :) Joel
Great tips. Many thanks as always 😊

Amazing my dear
Good goooooood🎉
Thank you! Cheers!
Laura can you please teach us some endings??
You’re so awesome!
Could you make a video on hole hearted by extreme on acoustic guitar. I have always wanted to play that song. For beginners obviously.
Great suggestion! I will keep this in mind for future videos :)
This is how tutorial should be like
Thank you for watching!
I love how she’s playing Enough for you by Olivia Rodrigo with those chords lol
My special teacher
Lauren. Can you do a lesson on the strumming pattern for Weekend by Sumbuck. Thanks
Thanks for watching! For any song request, please submit that to this link: www.laurenbateman.com/faq/
I have a picking question do u think if you hit the base note would it make the chords sound better
There are definitely different strumming techniques for that as well. On downstairs yes, on up strums. Not really.
Thx - nice Tips
Happy to help
@@LaurenBateman I tried it out ride away, have a specific tip or exercise how to loosen up the grip and make the strumming more “light”
very nice❤❤❤

I forget who it was, but I heard that a well known electric guitar player plays without a pick for fear of dropping it during a performance! 😀

My pic moves in my fingers causing the strumming half way through a song to be shocking. Any tips on stopping it slipping out your fingers ?

Make YOUR STUMMING SOUND BETTER
LIKE,LIKE...
I don't like picks and always play the guitar with fingers. All picks tossed to the bin.
Thought I was the only one! Hate picks!! I feel I can add so much more dynamics much easier with my fingers and to me sounds so much more intimate.
No worries. You can do that!
Am i the only child learning from her?
I think there are a few others
