I'm the dude from Reddit who asked about the render engine and stuff. Dude thank you so much. I'm 100% copying your ideas from this video for my renders.
I remember seeing this on reddit and was confused for a hot-second if I was on a photography sub. Your render genuinely looks so good it's actually mind-blowing how you were able to achieve that.
Excellent video. I really liked your simple and effective way of giving information. The pace of the video was great and made it a pleasure to watch. Liking and subscribing is the least I can do. Keep it up! 🎉
wow, this is a very compact video of everything you need for realism. Thanks! helped me a lot to understand what my renders were lacking. I always felt like there is still something to tweak, but couldn´t find out what my renders always lacked. this video gave me the answers!
I find that note about adding dirt and finger prints to make it look real, so over the top. I mean, in real life we dont see that on everything. Perhaps some smudges or soft changes.
Oh damn you good!! This looks hella realistic. Do you mind sharing the project file for this also once? I want to explore the scene and see it for myself
geometry or displacement both would work here. I don't recommend normal map because of the fact that it's a round object, so the illusion of fake displacement will show at glazing angles
No, it was done on purpose to insinuate a manufactured feel. it's a fake hand writing. it's not exclusive like the it says on the box, and it's not exclusive because it literally says "everyone"
quick question about EXR. I recently made a night scene and realized that the PNG format is giving me much better results than the EXR. There were a lot of bandings that were happening when I was doing post processing on the EXR in photoshop, whereas the PNG was really smooth. Is EXR only superior for brighter scenes? I've seen the Polyfiord video and I remember he was using a night scene also, but this has been my experience so far.
I dont think so, EXR stores more data in blacks and whites so it should work the same. if you use PS Make sure to apply a gamma correction of 0.4545 first
Thanks for this video. just one question why scratched shouldn't go to the roughness channel. in the reality the roughness on the scratches is different than the smooth parts for example in the varnish wood materials the roughness on the scratches are much more than the rest of the wood.
you can obviously get away with scratches on the roughness channel it will look almost the same, but I agree with you, for varnished wood for instance, it might look better
Hey amazing work, just wanted to point out that you are not allowed to use quixel assets with the free license and export renders from blender so be careful with this topic as they could act accordingly (quixel account ban or worse). besides from than i am really impressed, id love to see a short animation of that scene to see how realistic it is on video.
Yes I agree with you, but I think quixel realises that most blender users are hobbyists and dont use the assets for commercial purposes. But legally ? Yes you are totally right
Thanks for the detail brother 👍👍 can you tell me what software are you using for that screen writing if we get that name easy for marking stuff in blender thanks in advance all the best 👍👍
no it is definetly possible to achieve on cycles, it's just harder in my opinion. You need less effort to make things look realistic in Octane because of it's energy conservation.
you can literally put an overlay of scratches over the top in photoshop with a clouds filter to add variance in post and save you 90% of the work. Work smarter not harder. Remember to add these details do it spairingly....and honestly 99% of clients aren't interested in this level of detail.
Hey , can you next time increase the volume of the video, the video is good, just the sound is less, i know its like system to system, but it will help out if you can adjust this. other than this, the video is good.
if i do the render with filmic render profile, sand save it with EXR. then open that EXR in photoshop with all the passes. and align those passes it dosent match with the main RGB pass or with the render i see in viweport. @aumission

Incredible work and lovely video! Subscribed and definitely looking forward to more of your work!

Could you do a video about how you texture as well?
The noise filter you used is amazing, adds a realistic camera effect.

thank you so much this was very very helpfull I forgot to use a lot of things you mentioned also could you share the hdri?
I got it from polyhaven I dont remember which one exactly, its mentionned in the video maybe.
Make a tutorial for this image please 🙏
After translating the braille, I feel (rightfully) called out.
😆 sorry not sorry
how would i approach making the ridges on the bottle cap? is it just a high poly mesh or displacement or a normal map?
geometry or displacement both would work here. I don't recommend normal map because of the fact that it's a round object, so the illusion of fake displacement will show at glazing angles
the thumbnail really grabs attention
Thanks, really useful tips!
you are welcome !
Beautiful work. Subbed. Great shaders and texturing!
Rad
Thank you!
How did you make the textures and materials? Did you use any software like substance painter or was it just texture stacking? Fantastic job ❤
thank you. all in Octane
Where I can download octane? For free 🤔
if you type "install octane for blender" on youtube you will get plenty of tutorials
Can you get similar quality in Cycles in your opinion?
Yes of course
thnks sir
Brilliant work. Thank you for the tips.
similar hand written "everyone" breaks any realism, you could made a few variants of sign and used random offset rotation for mapping
No, it was done on purpose to insinuate a manufactured feel. it's a fake hand writing. it's not exclusive like the it says on the box, and it's not exclusive because it literally says "everyone"
Can't belive I didnt subscribe after the Adidas and Braun tutorials. I have now, do keep these high-quality tutorials coming.
Do you recommend switching to octane ?
for sure. I personally find it superior to cycles. In blender, you have access to Octane for free, unlike other softwares.
good tips, thanks!
you are welcome !
Hello sir, I don’t see the link to the 8k texture and other resources you mentioned. Please can you help me with the links?
Hi. I mentionned the resources I used in the video. it's mainly from quixel megascans
@@aumission the 8k noise texture?
you are right. I made a mistake. I edited the description of the video to include the link.

this image played with my mind😂👍
Wow, huge love for this video.
I can't believe Blender didn't have light linking, that's been around in Maya for about a decade.
I agree, it's should be a pretty standard feature. the official release of Blender 4.0 is out now and has light linking !
Such a lovely breakdown!
Thank you !
Duuuude, Amazing work, and thanks so mush for sharing this content.
Thank you. I'm happy it helped you in some way !

Did you misspell “effective?”
no. it's affective, as in, relating to emotions

Octane displacement. Make sure to add blur to your displacement map for a smoother height transition

you are looking at it from a "making money" prespective. cinematic pieces like these are mostly passion projects, I do it because I enjoy the process.
