I had a lot of fun making this video and I hope you enjoyed watching it too! Do you think LEGO DC will make a comeback with the new DCU? EDIT: Yes LEGO Spider-Man was first my bad I forgot!
Yes. They have hope. Watch videos of people viewing Mark Stratford. The reasons why there were no LEGO tie-ins to films after WW84 was because of flops and controversies.
@@seanalailima5929exactly Mark has always been clear that when a superman movie comes- that’s the point where he will introduce other characters again. It’s just batman sells the most so it’s clear why they’ve been so heavy on him.
0:00-0:08 First of all, LEGO DC Super Heroes began in 2011 while LEGO Batman began in 2006. Second, it was not the first comic theme because the LEGO Spider-Man came out in 2002 despite being a sub-theme of LEGO Studios. 4:22-4:32 Technically, _The LEGO Batman Movie_ theme began in 2016 by releasing the Batmobile and Joker Notorious Lowrider sets first.
Honestly it was just an issue with Dc as a whole with all their products, they primarily focused on Batman and from a company standpoint Marvel was thriving while Dc was tanking hard.
DC has an indentity issue for non-DC fans because of the casuals who only care for Batman. Doesn't help that WB tried to capitalize on MCU hype and subsequently tanked even harder
It’s getting to be enough time where they could reboot a lot of the sets like they did with the 2006 and 2012 Batman themes. Another Arkham asylum and Batcave are easy. But to introduce them as a wave, with an established theme for the figs (cartoony, classic, modernized, grounded) and include other dc figs that way. What they need is another wave of Batman/DC sets rather than these 2 or 3 throughout the year. Reboot sets of iconic places are warranted given how many years it’s been since we’ve gotten a play scale Asylum and Batcave, but also use that opportunity of another wave to introduce figs we haven’t gotten. Both from Batman comics and from DC as a whole. Dc has always been the more mature theme, and they don’t have an MCU going rn. Lego is struggling trying to keep the DC license active. They gotta do what they did in 2006 and 2012 again, a brand new wave with a new vibe that all the sets and figs follow. They also gotta not just make sets for what comes out and that’s it. Like who knows when Star Wars sequel trilogy sets will ever come out again given they are over and they weren’t well received. But the difference there is that there’s random stories that could inspire sets with the comic book themes, yet lego seems to think the sets won’t sell if they arent being pushed with a current movie or tv show. But I feel like Lego has changed anyways. They are less about waves now and more about releasing less sets at one time, but the releases more spread out. Themes like star wars still get a good amount of sets throughout the year, however some themes like DC, whereas they will also have new sets more spread out, we get one for like every 4 star wars sets. And the ones they do are all batmobiles, batwings, and joker and Batman in the set. Given how Lego releases stuff now, I doubt we’ll see any big Batman wave anytime soon. Probably another DC wave when the new movies come out. But realistically, best case scenario is we get a massive Arkham asylum on the level of avengers tower, with villains each in their Arkham jumpsuits and regular outfits, the whole bat family, some other random DC super heroes. A massive Arkham asylum is the Lego DC themes equivalent to Avengers Tower and the Daily Bugle. A massive play set that allows for 20+ minifigs would instantly revitalize the theme
with the dcu starting next year with James gunns Superman hopefully it’s also the start of Lego dc being great again and actually making sets on other characters rather then just Batman
Lego will probably be suprised at how well it sells considering they think people only care about batmobiles from a shitty tv show from the 60s and a single movie in 1989
It's because they focused too heavily on the DCEU and when that tanked they just focused on Batman which has limited what they can make, I much preferred the Justice League era sets/video game tie in sets.
The wonder woman minifigures actually come with a speaker that makes that noise constantly apparently it's a recording of somebody stepping on a lego, it never runs out of battery either, amazing technology that perhaps could have been put to better use that wasn't, much like the DCEU
If the new dcu is good, I could see sets coming out 2026 or even 2027. The new Superman movie is gonna flop, but its purpose is to bring trust back with the audience, and hope for future success with the future movies. So I doubt Lego is gonna make a dcu set next year, or even the start of 2026. They’re gonna wait till a couple of movies come out to decide if continuing to make sets are worth it or not.
I’m not saying the Superman movie is gonna be bad, I bet it’s gonna be really really good with James Gunn at the lead! But there isn’t any trust with the dc franchise and the average audience. The past few movies haven’t made their money back, or just barely did. None of the dc movies recently have made close to $400 million dollars, which for a superhero movie should be easy(look at marvel, even the mediocre movies at least make over a black Adam). Superman isn’t gonna do well financially because he dc property has been really damaged from the past 5+ years. The point of the film is to bring trust back with the average audience so future dcu movies can make bank like how marvel has it right now.
@@emeraldninjalink6312 the main reason why the 2023 movies didn’t do well is because of the new universe being announced so then everyone who’s not super invested in the movies didn’t want to watch then since they were going to lead nowhere so with superman being the first movie in the new universe and it being superman arguably the most well known superhero of time with the others being Batman and spider-man I think it will make a lot of money but I guess we’ll have to wait and see next year
@@DC_batboy I see that point and I think that fact could help the film a lot. But another big question is how many people know this is a new universe? If they still think it’s part of the dceu, they still might not go out to see it. But that’s the job of the trailers. I do hope this movie succeeds, but for me it’s just hard to see
It went downhill as soon as other dc characters appeared in a lego batman game. And its a common courtesy too that every writers should learn from. Because in the 2004 batman series, the justice league gets introduced and led to a cancelation. And if other dc heroes happen to cameo or appear in "The Batman Epic Crime Saga", possible chance that it might get canceled, so im glad reeves is keeping it grounded.

GREAT LEGO MAN CAM TRAGIC DOWNFALL OF DC SUPERHEROES.
Dc superheroes in 2013: justice league
Dc superheroes in 2024: batman.
now its just dc superhero
And don’t get me wrong I’m all for Batman but even the Batman sets being released are repetitive to a degree that is just lazy at this point
We’ll get a comeback when gunns DCU takes off. I need a Doomsday bigfig so bad
I really miss the justice league sets. I hope the DCU can help revive lego DC.

Does Lego seriously think people would rather have sets based on Shang-Chi and Eternals than Superman?
Why not both?
Eternals sets were rotting on shelves for 2 years
@psi_mae there was eternals sets??

Nobody here is talking about fact that Superman is returning next year?
So excited

OG lego Batman sets are pure definition of sexual arousal
At least I’ll finally be able to afford the Heath Ledger Joker Minifigure next year
You are my new favorite lego channel for a few months now. Keep up the great work!
Appreciate it! Thanks for the support
They should have made movies and MFG sets more instead of repeating boring set formulas and characters over and over again
0:12 Certified classic, My friend had that one. I got him to trade the Army torso.
Well hopefully there will be more DC sets with the start of the DCU
Lego decided give more attention to Marvel than DC
let’s just see how this superman mech sells.

I just want a new Blu Beetle fig
Please lego can I just get a flash minifigure I’ll even take a key chain of it 😭😭😭
I think you messed up the title its supposed to say LEGO DC Batman
Unless convinced otherwise, I think Lego is gonna cancel Lego dc in the next few years.
Nah brah. Only how I would buy dc sets again is: if they do Batman brave and the bold series as a set. Then I’m back in..❤️🇦🇺
