This is my photography camera, I'm also starting my RUclips channel with this camera. If you know how to operate a camera and understand video production you can work around its flaws. 1. There's no audio jack (ZoomH1 can fix that) 2. Bad autofocus (Learn how to use manual) 3. No flip screen for vlogging? (Use a tripod, attach your phone as a monitor)
The T6 was my first DLSR I got, for an intro to photo class in 2017, and I still use it today. I do plan to upgrade to the EOS 80D, but I will still keep this gem of a camera. As an example of the quality of this camera, I was able to be offered a solo show at my college I go to, and I printed 12 photos all around 23' x 33', and they all look pretty good. This shows that this camera does have what it takes for quality student work. Now, is this a professional camera though, no. I would not use this for real photo shoots that will be for an ad or something, but is it a good camera to get into digital photography, hell yes! I would say, buy this, use it for a few years, as I have, and when the time comes, look for the next camera up from the T6 that fits your budget. Remember, having an amazing camera isn't going to make you an amazing photographer/ videographer. It may not be the best in image resolution, but it's more about the photographers skill more than the camera itself. You can buy a very cheap point and shoot camera, and still get very good photos from it. Good equipment is both nice to have and only necessary to your skill level. If you are just starting out, or just want something to give you quality images to record memories with, this camera is for you. If you are on a budget, but are comfortable with your skills as a photographer, I would say that this is also for you, although, saving for the previously mentioned EOS 80D may be better for the long run. Sorry for the long statement, but I just wanted to share my experience and thought process on the matter.
Omg I have this camera way before I started my Channel and never use it for video. I've been using my android phone eversince and phone works for me a lot easier. Gosh I'm more motivated to learn using real camera after watching your reviews. My viewers deserve HD vlog. Hehehe thank you!
Thank you SO much for saying that 1080p is all you need! I can still use my D3200 with it's massive 11 focus points! I hate the way it hunts at times but it's what I got.
In all fairness, I'd say this camera was designed to take still photos, and shooting video was just a secondary option. I own a Canon camera which I bought exclusively to take photos, and it does a decent job of that. While it is capable of recording video, I rarely use it for that purpose. Just how it is sometimes. And on a side note, just for reference. My internet connection will only allow me to view videos at 720p. I can try to watch videos at 1080p, but I'll get 3 seconds of video, then 3 seconds of buffering, (and that repeats). The point is, people upload 4K videos to youtube, which many people (like myself) can't watch in 4K quality. Just something to think about when dealing with large file sizes and upload times.
Canon t5i! I got the t5i to start out with practically brand new(1200 shutter count) for $270. It has a flip/touch screen, continuous Auto focus in video mode (not dual pixel but not bad), an external mic Jack and it comes with the stm motor on the efs 18-55 kit lens Wich makes it practically silent. It's for from the best camera out there but I love it for my first camera and it cut out a lot of limitations that usually come with a camera that cheap. Love your reviews Everyday Dad, it would be fun to see a review of the t5i.
Bryant Laws T6i was my fist and it still is. Great for photos, and Ik for video I really started getting interested in video and now I’m thinking moving to m50
Probably one of the best, most control accessible cameras that Canon have built, is that an over statement, in my view no. I get superb results from the T6. As far as video is concerned, you can use use your mobile phone as a flip screen, just use it forward facing while fixed to the hot shoe. The T6 is a great photographer's camera.
Well I just got this with a case and Telephoto Lens as well. Cost 270.00 di not have the battery, gotta love pawn shop treasures sometimes! I think for what I paid it's a great first camera. This is something to build on and that's my goal. I also got my OSMO Pocket on Thursday.I'm really excited about that. Will I'll be unboxing and reviewing that on my channel once I get the camera set up. Great open and honest review TEDD.
I had the T3 and was considering the T6 as a replacement, but it wasn't much of an upgrade. I ended up holding up for the M50 instead that is on back order for me. I love how long I could snap and take videos, the battery life was quite decent. Enough so that I only ever had 1 battery.
People will think it's a good vlog camera, but it's not. The fact that it doesn't auto-focus during video makes it really hard to use. Unless you are crazy about blurred backgrounds and will record only inside an studio, I would prefer to use a cellphone, for example, you would get sharper images. I have to mention that it only records 12 minutes at a time also, so if you are doing things alone, this camera is nothing short of a pain. But to take pictures it's very good, far better than a person with money would admit, but a solid option for third worldlers, for example. I have a T6 and a friend of mine has a 6D, we go out shooting and after we put the images online people would never notice the difference.
T6 is great for photos. I think it can be pretty good for videos too but not the best especially, compared to other cameras. I have the T6S and it's waaay better than the T6 and a smidge better than the T6i. Articulating (touch) screens are so useful in exponential ways. I recommend the "i" Rebels for shooting videos. Especially because they have microphone inputs.
Hello! I love the video and am trying to decide between the Panasonic Lumix Dc-Zs70K And this camera. I want to use one of these cameras for Video editing! Can you please help me and suggest with one you like better?
Get the 550d as it has mic input. If you must have a screen facing you , DSLR controller on Android is great...but it doesn't work on all phones, particularly the low end androids. Lastly, get a good lens and you'll be fine.
It looks like a good camera if you don't need 1080p 60, stabilization or audio in jack. I have the Nikon d3500 and it doesn't have an audio in jack either. What would you suggest for any external mic?
I own one of these and regarding the “fiddliness” I find the biggest thing I fiddle with was the start and stop record button. The camera automatically shuts off after 30 minutes or when the recorded file hits 4GB, which ever comes first. Using the highest quality possible means I hit 4GB after about 11 minutes or so which means I can’t leave this camera to record, I’d always be having to make sure it’s recording
Too bad you don't do stills, a little snow can make blah beautiful. Seems like stills would be a better option for the T6 if you're solo. BUT! If you already have a T6, use it to get your feet wet with video.
So what are you using to video tape your "show?" We have a Canon XSi, that takes pretty good pics, but we were wanting to upgrade. But, I am just wondering if it's worth the $399 for the camera, extra lenses and camera bag? Or, should we get a GoPro or something that is better video instead? TYIA
Lol the h1n sounds so much better. For anyone considering this, I would go for the 80d or m50 instead. Flip out screen, mic jack, dpaf, much better camera, albeit more expensive. If you want a cheaper alternative buy a gopro hero 5 or higher. Just my 2 cents
I agree about the M50 being a great camera, but some people can only afford a certain level. And I definitely disagree about getting a gopro anything for indoor recording. Those tiny sensors won't do much, you're way better off with a cell phone. But if you want to get a big sensored camera for as little as possible the T6 is workable.
The gopro isn't actually that bad even in low light, just gotta get the settings dialed in. Check my last vlog to world trade center, all was done with hero 6 on evo gp pro gimbal in 4k 24p. Iso set to max 400. Works even in the dark as long as its externally stabilized.
Ewww not the t6! Its not any better than my old t3i thats somewhere in my closet! Cant focus for video! 18mp on both! Etc. Actually my t3i has a flip out screen! This dosnt! Plus the video quality is the same! If u WANT THIS JUST GO WITH THE T3i! None have a touch screen! And the T3i HAS AN AUDIO IN!! (Sorry abt my rage 😁)Great video btw
No matter what preferences aside, if you know what you are going to do with your camera, your camera will not fail you. It may piss you off on some things, but they were designed to give good output. You have to weigh what you pay vs. what you want, and times give up for the price. I love a camera fellow who said it best. Buy it nice. Not twice! In other words could you wait till you got a better camera? Of course you can. The T6 is not the end of the world. But if you shop wisely, and bargain hunt, a better camera is always going to turn up. When is always the tricky part. But if you are diligent, and know all you want and need, and uh...ahem, focus on those items, a great camera will come your way.
I use my T6 to record my youtube videos but they're not made for recording they're made for photography so don't compare the T3i's video (which is literally a video camera) to a T6 that isn't
The audio actually sounded louder and clearer though the camera but not as smooth. I bought the camera yesterday for $289. I didn’t pass up that deal. I will mostly use it to shot produce images for my business. I might use it for tripod set-up for DIY videos not vlogging. There are workaround to the camera not having a flip screen. My older 12mp Canon has the flip screen which is very handy to make sure I stayed within camera view for my DIY videos, so I may continue to use that for a while.
I have the T6 and I wish I would have payed more attention to the flip out monitor and real time autofocusing on the Canon T6i as I now want to do sit down videos for RUclips. How can one try to focus on themselves before shooting a video if they're standing in front of the camera but can't see whats on the LCD screen behind the camera, or if they have a nice blur behind them for the video? This is why I'm considering the T6i for vlogs/sit downs. Flip out screen? Plus. Continuous tracking AF? Plus. Now I need a job. 😂
Someone bought me a T6 for my birthday and even tho it wasn't exactly what I want, I rather have it then nothing. I was and still am saving for a mirrorless but it's a good beginner camera and it's especially good for someone wanting to learn basics or if you're on a budget. And I've seen people make beautiful things with it so it's not terrible or anything.
Yeah use what you have, thats the most important part. There will always be more camera gear out there, dont worry about that. To make things easier for yourself sure save up for something a little more user friendly. But you don't need much to make awesome content.
Thanks and... For you in 2019 a SONY a99II? I purchased that camera last week brand new for 1700 dollars but I don't if I did at the end a good move...
I have the 2000D and to film something I just put it on a weird structure plugged with a cable to my phone or with WIFI for an amazing wireless screen.
So.....I’d have to agree. Technology is a wonderful thing. I’m out grocery shopping and watching a video on RUclips about cameras. I would have to agree the T6 had its time. Just like if I was watching this video over AOL using dial up on a 56k connection. It makes sense to get a little more with the times. Btw.... I’m quite enjoying my M50. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this camera.
Is there a reason why people still buy a t6 or t7? Or even their "i" versions. Surely there are better cameras under the same price range. Like in the sony line up a6000 for example
A lot of vloggers still use m50 or even g7x mark ii, but if you want that blurry background you'll have to switch to full frame. 6dii, 5dmark iv, EOS R
This is my photography camera, I'm also starting my RUclips channel with this camera. If you know how to operate a camera and understand video production you can work around its flaws.
1. There's no audio jack (ZoomH1 can fix that)
2. Bad autofocus (Learn how to use manual)
3. No flip screen for vlogging? (Use a tripod, attach your phone as a monitor)
No 1080p@60fps (no solution)
YourTechGuy 1080P 24fps is good enough for a standard vlog.
It’s also hard to vlog because of the bad autofocus
what is zoomH1?
I would go for the sl2 instead of the t6.

This was my black Friday gift to myself. Going to learn as much as I can about photography

Can you use a small monitor, or macbook say, to monitor it?
@@RawFitChris yeah
not gonnalie, the audio coming from the camera in the outdoor vlogging test sounded better than your external mic
I've had a T6 now for about a year or so...It was my first DSLR, really great for photography. I'm ready to sell it and go into full frame now.
Same but I can never find a buyer
The t6 audio was surprisingly better
So I'm not the only one who thinks this way then? LoL

Thanks so much! Yeah I really like the M50 and for the price I don’t think you could do any better 👍
The Everyday Dad I decided to try and take a few pics with it. Unreal detail. Now to learn aperture priority TV mode
I wish that aperture priority mode worked for video too 😭
Please do a video on CANON EOS M6 same price point
Is there a reason why people still buy a t6 or t7? Or even their "i" versions. Surely there are better cameras under the same price range. Like in the sony line up a6000 for example
I love this camera canon rebel Tf6 it great thnk fpr that
I just bought the canon m50 upgrade from my Nikon 3100 whats the best ok camera for bigger vlogger thank you
I think the M50 is an awesome camera, its actually the camera I labeled as my budget camera of the year for 2018.
A lot of vloggers still use m50 or even g7x mark ii, but if you want that blurry background you'll have to switch to full frame. 6dii, 5dmark iv, EOS R
I meant for not a big vlogger@@TheEverydayDad
I just rocked video with t6 !!??????
It truly depends on ones needs. For youtube maybe. Get some nice glass and I feel it can be.
Thats a really good point! Thanks for the comment!
Can you please revisit the Canon Cameras with the alternative firmware Magic Lantern ?!
As this is my wife’s camera I probably wont put magic lantern on it, but maybe on a different camera in the future 😁
Is it better than a new iPhone is the question
Just sold mine yesterday because it just wasn’t cutting it.
Try looking for a 77d or 80d on Ebay. Got one few months back for under $ 700. Gear worth 1500
jaythejewel lol are you sure it was the camera
i just want a camera that can record like 1440p60fps or at least 1080p60 but cant find one that doesn't have horrible reviews
