A few things that have helped to control my hairfall include: (1) I discontinued wearing hair ties because it leds to tension breakage. (2) I started massaging my scalp twice a week with liitleextra cocoonnion hair oil while leaning forward & holding my head inverted to allow blood flow to the scalp. (3) Protecting my head while moving out to protect my hair from dust and pollution. (4) Using gentle shampoo again from liittleextra only to cleanse my hair.
I've been using this Cocoonioon shampoo over the last 5 months. Some shampoos make the scalp dry and itchy, but I didn’t experience that with this one. Hair loss has reduced somewhat. Overall, it’s a good product.
My hair isn't relaxed but I'm still gonna watch this🌚

ughh I hate that we literally have to put our way away to prevent breakage and retain length. like dang I want to wear it out.
Exactly that's why I went natural but them they saying the same thing. So now what?!
It’s because the “growing long hair” has gone rampant, people have forgotten to just enjoy their hair 🙄
@@misschissybudget1656 That’s just what our hair requires, not to just grow longer but also remain healthy. It requires low manipulation. Nobody “forgot” about enjoying their hair. I’ve never heard of that. You probably just don’t want to keep your hair in protective styles all the time. But I mean you can do what you want. It ain’t my hair.
@@misschissybudget1656 i agree with you, it has grown rampant. But I understand some people have the goal of growing long hair. I try to find the medium of wearing my hair out half the time and half protective styling because like you said, it's important to just enjoy our hair.
It’s not fair 😩 why did we have to be the only race that has to do that 😩
I've been following what you do almost to a tee. My hair has always been pretty healthy but it has never been longer than it is now. You're great!
Thant makes me really happy to know

I’ve been in my relaxed hair journey for 4 years. My growth has been sporadic, I have been deep conditioning and doing everything right. 6 months ago I decided to start self relaxing and tucking my hair away. And YES! Seun is right, you need to leave your hair alone, can’t stress this enough. I have seen so much growth and I can wait to share in my next video.
Thank you Seun.
We love to hear it!!
My hair is not relaxed it's natural it won't grow .

I have relaxed my hair after six years of being natural, now I regret it lol my hair is breaking so bad and that’s my reason for coming on RUclips
Mines too 😩 did you find a solution?
Me too
Same
It's the type of relaxer being used on you, it's probably too strong. Also, are you doing weekly deep conditions and keeping your relaxed hair moisturized?
Girl me too I want to cry I was natural for 8 years, permed my hair and waited 6 months for a touch up and now my hair is breaking idk what to do 😭😭
Your health is also very important. You could be doing all these great things outwardly but if your health is out of whack then those internal problems can cause breakage and shedding.
Very good point...iron deficiency, hormonal imbalance and thyroid issues are contributing factors to excessive hair breakage/shedding.
True, pcos took mine, didn’t know at the time it was pcos making my hair fall off, I tried everything, nothing worked. It’s was so frustrating.
Thank you for that information 😉
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Some other things that were affecting my hair loss was I was very deficient in Vitamin D and B12 which are very necessary for hair growth. I would recommend that people get blood work done with their doctors to see if that's the case.
happy valentine to all singles and taken people
To you too!!! Sending lots of love(:
@@SeunOkimi Hi Seun, i wanted to know if you relax your hair yourself and can you make a video on the process of relaxing your new growth ?
I got my hair relaxed and
1. The volume increased
2. Breaks less than when it was natural
3. The washing part is challenging, I have to wash it every week otherwise I get uncomfortable
4. I wash leave in conditioner, oil it...
How comes your relaxed hair got more volume?
@@swisdom9117 yeah it would have less volume
@@swisdom9117
Coz a blowdrier will pluck out more hairs than a relaxer. The comb attachment is a hair stealer.
Also protective styling can really accelerate shedding.
@@digitallocations1423 Comb attachments/blow dryers don't pluck out hair. Plus, how do you know they used one? Protective styles do not accelerate shedding you just see the hair you normally shed at once if you leave your hair alone for a long time.
@@swisdom9117 she likely means that after having relaxed hair for a while, it grew in volume. Not instantly
I wish I could relax my hair again, but relaxers give me migraines and cause my edges to fall out. Your hair is so beautiful.
Watching your videos convinced me to go back to relaxers after being natural for 5 years! It’s been 5 months and I had growth after only 1 touch up. Your tips really help, and now I need to learn how to do protective styles on myself 😩
😃 now she's done the big chop and gone natural. 😋😉😉
@@chidinque 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is me 😂literally relaxed today
What I learned is that I have to take care of relaxed hair just as much as natural. I think my hair was breaking because I would relax then just forget about it
Love your channel ❤ 💕 ♥ I relax my hair every 8 weeks. I noticed when I stretched them i had more breakage at the demarcation line..I wash every 2 weeks and moisture and seal every 2 days. I leave my hair in a low bun daily and a silk lined cap as I work outside. My hair has thrived in less then a years time!! Ohhh and no heat!
Ive been following your videos and decided to relax my hair after 6 years of being natural. Ive had my hair in protective styles for 3 months at a time and have seen really good growth. I didnt think my hair could grow past certain length. You are so right about low manipulation! Ive seen results. Ive now noticed breakage despite careful take down etc and I believe ive stretched my relaxer too long. 7 months at this point. The relaxed hair is breaking off so in future il consider re-touching the new growth at say 4/5 months. I was planning to stretch to 1 year but I realise it is causing breakage for me. You are right about not over stretching the relaxer too. Love your chanel.
Hey, please try a white shirt next time so that I can see your hair better
I like you! You have a happy spirit that comes through the phone
Or laptop or tablet or desktop lol
I enjoy consuming your content because the results of your regimen are fabulous ❤ I have waist-length relaxed hair, but my issue was excessive full strands shedding for the past 8 months. No rhyme or reason why it started. The only one of your tips that worked for me was handling the hair with leave-in but not any leave-in, an anti-hair loss one. Took approx. 5 weeks to stop the excessive shedding and my hair is rebounding nicely even though it's on the thin side for now. Like you, I want to encourage everyone to find what works for them. Don't be discouraged when someone else's complete regimen doesn't work for you too.
How is your hair now?
Hi, my daughter got her hair relaxed back in February and since then she has terrible breakage. So i came on here looking for ideas/ways on how i can help protect her hair and avoid so much breakage. I watched your video and I'll definitely try it and hopefully i can see some great results. Thanks much..
I started watching your videos a long time ago, because my hair was always wild & unruly. My family didn't know how to take care of my hair so I didn't learn... they don't even teach these things in multicultural cosmetology school! I've been doing my best to follow your advice and my hair is SO much healthier now! It's growing and is actually very soft and shiny. I'd honestly be lost without your informative videos. Thank you so much!!!
Aw, I'm so glad!
Eh mama I love u more than I
I didn't know her hair was relaxed !!!! Lovely
Thanks Seun for the ORS olive oil lotion reccomendation, it's the only moisturizer that allows my new growth slippage for days. I had been on the hunt using Elastsa QP, Motions, Silk Elements, Mane Choice, Mizani you name it! None of them worked on my 4c matte prone hair. Thank you Thank you!!!
Did anybody use Softsheen Carson Optimum Nourishing creme in the 90's before it was discontinued? It was great!! My hair was never the same after I could no longer find it in stock. I've learned if a product works buy it in stock!
I really needed this video, I've got full and shoulder length hair and the kinda breakage I get is crazy, like really crazy and it's just shortened my hair making it not grow past my shoulders...
Been trying protective styling for some months now and whilst I've seen some growth, I still have lots of breakage so I really needed this video..
Thanks Seun ❤
I agree with you on holding out as long as you can on relaxing..also for some reason braids don't protect my hair,it damages it..just took some braids out about 3mths ago and I had alot of breakages, had nothing to do with being to tight or dry..braids just isn't the protective style for my hair..🤷🏾♀️plus the longest time I can go without a relaxer is about 7wkss before my hair begins breaking..so yeah we have to just to study our hair and maintain it this best of our ability..protective dues always works for my hair in length!! Thanks!!
When you go to the hair salon they are so rough combing your hair 🙄
Yea. Better just do it at home.
my hair stylist is good.. just find a new month
I pretended to have a headache so that she could take it easy. Because they want listen. 🤷♀️And I love the way my hair comes out.
Just have to hang in there 😆 🤣
Now, that the whole truth. That's why I do my own hair
Makes sense, relax... wear your hair... after a month install a 3 month protective style and relax again.
Yes doing this makes my hair grow
Help me out please, what's a 3mths protective style
I swim so I need to wash my hair weekly, and sometimes twice a week. So I deep condition at least once a week, air dry over night (wrapped) and in the morning pull back into a not too tight bun. Imagine years ago - I’d be applying heat every single wash day👀🤦🏾♀️. I hardly use a hair dryer nowadays!
Great tips 🤩
I was so confused by the photo lol, like "Why is he doing all of this" 😂
I relaxed my hair today after the first time in 6 years, thank you for this video ❤️
And how is your Haie know?
@@anielacoelho7211 So even though I was natural I was still straightening my hair. The hair that had heat damage when it was natural had to get cut off. But the newly grown hair that’s relaxed is thriving, It’s thick full and growing very long. I’m happy with my decision.
Your hair is BEAUTIFUL Ms. Seun. God Bless!
Thank you Seun. I love your RUclips channel! Prevention is better than cure, and education aids prevention 😊. Btw, gorgeous relaxed hair 😍
thank you😊
When my hair was mid back length all I remember doing was wearing it up for 2 weeks then wash condition and up it went never combed for the 2 weeks. I wasn't even thinking about growing my hair long. It happened without me knowing that I was doing it. I never seen my hair because I was going to a salon. Every 2 weeks. So I was surprised that it had grew from shoulder length to mid back once I finally had it flat ironed.
I love this channel! Can you do a video about handling/ preventing dandruff with relaxed hair . I don't know if it's just me but I struggle with dandruff and itchy scalp mostly in the front and towards the center. I literally don't know what to do! 😣
Same here! It's so irritating. I've tried a few things but I think I might just go to a dermatologist. I just hope it's not too pricey.
Same here! And my hair can't last a month without looking like I have had it for 1 year because of how itchy it is
I think she has done something like that and she said we should use Tea tree oil, search on her channel
Same here. My hair is natural, but I hope it works for me too.

I’ve heard a lot about chebe powder. So many mixed reviews. Can you do a video about that? Bc they say that you have to reapply it every so often. But that is manipulating your hair again, which from the into you provided, causes more breakage. I trust the info you provide in your videos so I’m hoping you can do a video on that. Thanks much!
I've never had a relaxer before your hair is pretty

So probably we are just growing our hair without really enjoying it by wearing protective style. So sad...
So true
I know 😩 it’s not fair.

I just see it as a #tailbonelengthchallenge .... change your perspective. Make it fun and beautiful. Your mindset is the only thing blocking you from enjoying the journey. We don't have a sob story. We have an opportunity to show the most self love, the most creativity, the most resilience. African hair follicles are oval and that shape needs the most care. Fragile, yes. It is what it is. I am in a growth challenge of wearing zero braid hair or crochets. I change up my cornrows but all I do most days is wear headwraps, u-part wigs, or faux bangs for zoom. I've been consistent for 2 years. I have 3 more years to go and I hope to be swinging my hair down to my butt while listening to similar complaints. We are the lucky ones because it's an opportunity to delve into the sciences about our hair, play with sexy accessories, and once we reach our goal be the most exotic thing in the room.. Don't let "them" trick you into rushing the process. A little sacrifice now will pay off later!
@Mila Mila EXACTLY! And BSL is pretty long!
I have that bad habit aswell. I do my hair so often to the point of obsession. 1/2 of my hair is damaged, so it's easier to compare what is wrong with the right side
I used to relax my hair once a month!! Seriously, what was I thinking!! 💀💀💀💀
Finally another video has dropped, I’ve been waiting 🥰
🥰🥰
I have long relaxed hair too, MANIPULATION IS THE ENEMY.... PUT IT UP..... DONT PLAY WITH YOUR HAIR. Wear it down occasionally only..... PLEAAAAASE DON'T MESS WIHT THE EDGES.... Sometimes edges can be laid down with water, yes water and a little oil I use castor oil and water for my edges then use my fingers to lay down, then hands off.
So what style should I wear it in? Y’all keep saying don’t manipulate leave it alone. What style can I wear?
I have just discovered your channel. I have started relaxing my own hair since the pandemic and it's going fine. My old hair stylist used to drag the brush through my hair when it was wet and my hair used to come out a lot. I wonder whether she likes long hair? Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I look forward to watching your other videos.
Same here. This year am going to atted my hair .. their are heartless humanbeings yet we pay the service

Hello Seun, I have a question. When your hair is in twist or box braids and you change the way its worn does that still count as manipulation. For example you go from wearing your braid or twist down, then into a bun, then half up half down.
No it is not because it is already in its protective style
Yeahhhhhhh, done reading 💃 💃 Time to watch your video
🎉🎉🎉
Your hair is beautiful and I would love to reach your length one day
Thank you.
This video really helped. Been combing my hair in the shower and lose soo much hair while doing that.
I'm really glad it was helpful!!❤️
Great tips Seun , I totally Agree 💯
Love your Hair 💕
Thank you!😊
I don't agree with the "don't comb your hair when its wet"
If I don't wet my hair and comb, I experience breakage
She’s saying you shouldn’t comb it when it’s dripping wet. She also mentioned that you shouldn’t comb your hair when it’s so dry that it has no product or moisture in it because that also leads to breakage
When you’re natural you wet to comb when you’re relaxed it’s the opposite
I can not do my hair when it is not wet 😅 my head is sensitive when I’m trying to do it & it’s not wet
A comb can't get in my hair if it isn't wet lol
I deep condish every single time I wash. Gentle combing and I comb once every few weeks with protective styling. Even running your hands through your hair can cause breakage so keep hands and combs out of hair as much as possible
Any tips for dyeing hair? Mine relax my hair and it was growing beautifully but I dyed my hair for the first time two years ago and it broke off horrible. I am happy that I found your channel, it helps me because I was doing just as you do. I relax my hair twice a year and the rest of the year, I have my hair in a twist (the last two year I have been growing it out because of the dye)
Happy Valentine’s 💞

I’d suggest you visit a doctor because sometimes it depends on your health. I did some research on this some time ago, hope this helps 😀
Great video Queen. I had to sub to ur channel it was very informative. I just uploaded a video on my channel on my relaxed hair too I stretched to 13 weeks. How long did u stretch for doll?
This is really a nice video. But i have been having some tiny wound scars on my hair like the ones you get when your hair gets burnt while relaxing it then it keeps on spreading.I am scared and my hair loss is massive now and itchy
I usecthe Fudge "Time Machine " hair bonder, it actually works to restore hair strength, softness and reducing breaking 4c Afro hair. And a deep condition Keratin hair bonder helps. And clove & rosemary oil
How are you suppose to deep condition hair every week with a protective hairstyle??
Thanks for the video.. After applying conditioner on our hair we were taught to come through, and you said no coming our hair when wet, how do I go about it
So we should wear protective style as much as we can.. but what is the point to have it long? I really have hard time to understand it bc it makes no sense for me.. hi from 🇧🇷
I know this is somewhat unrelated but can you please do a video or give me quick advice on pre sew-in hair prep. Idk if Im supposed to thoroughly moisturize before install or have it dry and heat styled like most hairstylists require. I just know that in take down my hair is super brittle and snaps right off
Tying it up EVERY night is big one too. Omg when I fail to tie my hair up it get dry and breaks a lot too
I used to have a relaxer and my hair grew and I never had any problems with it, but I decided to go natural because the chemicals are not good. Do you ever think about going natural?
I was but its too stressful

Thank you for the motivation❤️💜💛
You are very welcome!😊
How do you maintain the same texture throughout the length if you relax the roots only when you have new growth?
Whenever I'm waiting for my next relax but my hair tends to sort of return to it's natural state.
Hey, i just want to ask a question. I like to have my hair out most of the time, i hardly ever have in protective styles. I therefore relax my hair approximately every 2 months sometimes after a month and half and by that time the new growth gets extremely hard to a point where i literally can not run a bomb through it. Is it normal? If not, is there a way that i can atleast keep it a little soft so that i can atleast comb it? I don't know if it's also because i dont wash it during that 2 months (between my relaxing appointments) can you also advice me on how often i should wash it?
Seun talks about using QRS olive oil lotion. That was a game changer for the manageability of my new growth. I would use the moisturizer first then seal with Jamaican castor oil mixed with a lighter hair oil.
Check out Seun's video" how I grew my hair long"
The camera kept going in and out of focus which was a bit distracting, but great tips overall. I Love your videos, and I’m not even relaxed 😀💁🏾♀️
What shampoo would you use and conditioner for regular washing and deep conditioning?
I got my hair relaxed almost two months ago٫and it was over processed( like parts of it were burnt and stuck to my scalp for a little over a week٫almost two) and it hurt. I feel like no matter how many videos I watch and how many times I watch it٫im clueless. I'm going to try more protective styles and hope that it works
They over processed your hair. I am sorry you got burned.
First off love your channel, my hair has been growing great. I've just ran into one problem, I can't seem to keep my hair in a protective style for a long period with out developing small dreads at my roots!!! Its driving me crazy. I just took I box braids I had for one month and I lost so much hair brushing them out. Granted I didn't follow your advice of taking my time, but why is this even happening? Btw my hair is really soft, it feels like cotton candy combed out.
First off, you do need to take your time, and then you need to detangle each braid with your fingers first! as you take them out. Use a light conditioner or even water to create a little bit of slip to make it easier before going in with a comb. And don't use a small tooth comb!
Wow thanks for your advice, do you have a tutorial on how you trimmed your hair?
This is a good video. Thank you for uploading. The captions should be removed. It is not reflecting what you are saying in the video. I see this alot. People make great videos then someone does a caption for the video with all the wrong words
