    As has been correctly pointed out, the Audioengine speakers mentioned in the early part of this video should have been listed as Airpulse. Here's a link to the review of the A80s, if you would like to see that very same review: ruclips.net/video/LhMMgyTm5Co/видео.html

      I purchased my Edifier s1000w yesterday based on your recommendation and I am very happy with them. I Airplay 2 them with a pair of Wharfedale Lintons and this gave me a great result. Nice to have the surround sound with 4 great sounding speakers.

    To encourage listening to music outside of smartphone speakers I gave both my daughters Edifier speakers. They are affordable speakers, easy to connect to, have tone controls and they sound good. My youngest daughter inherited some vinyl from a relative and so I donated a Fluance RT-81 turntable, Schiit Phono amp and Schiit Modi Dac. The Schiit gear are older models that I was not using. I threw in a $$99 Wiim streamer. This is an inexpensive starter hi fi system that is ably served by the powered Edifier speakers. Very good base and overall good tone. The system had very good stereo image. No large boxes and easy to connect and use. And yes very good sound for the money. I can’t recommend Edifier speakers enough. They are a very good choice for affordable music listening and can be upgraded later by adding a good affordable dac etc. I thank you for reviewing this pair and also for your review of the Fluance turntable some time ago. I appreciate your work. Keep on introducing brands that you don’t normally see in hi-fi circles. Especially affordable quality gear. On that note - hopefully one day you might review the affordable Schiit Audio range of affordable but seriously good products.

      Schiit gear is very difficult to get hold of in the uk. Pretty much everything is permanently sold out - or it was every time I looked. I’ve give up on it.

      How have you connect speakers wifh a DAC?

    • @roytatum9517
      @roytatum9517 8 месяцев назад

      The Edifier speaker has two sets of line level inputs. One is linked to the DACs line out and the other to the phono preamp. A remote control switches between the inputs. Or you can switch manually on the speaker.

    Cheers from Denver and thank you for your review, Paul. To my great surprise, my wife bought these for me as a birthday present last month (I'm so lucky, I know). I had placed them on a wish list based solely on numerous online reviews from trusted sources. I had never actually listened to them so when I received them I was worried I'd regret my impulsiveness. I could not have been more pleased after setting them up and playing a multitude of my favorite tracks. Slightly toed in on my standup desk in my office, they provide far better sound than I was expecting or hoping for. They are not small nor are they light but neither is their performance. They're pushing the limits of price and size for a desktop setup but I absolutely recommend them for a smaller or even main system. They're absolutely fantastic.

      This is useful advice because I didn't talk about near field in my review - I'll feature this within this Friday's video, if you don't mind Martin. Thanks.

    Thank you for reviewing this, - an excellent review. As a brand Edifier are very underrated in some circles. I have the Edifier S2000MKIII which I use with a Music Hall mmf-1.5 turntable (with Audio Technica AT-VMN95ML) and a little Fosi tube buffer phono pre-amp - it's been absolutely fantastic, great detail, dynamics and soundstage. Using these with a solid turntable and stylus really makes a great set up to listen to records. You don't have to got nuts spending too much to get deeply in to the music I really got back in to my vinyl during the pandemic and Edifier are a very affordable option if you enjoy listening to a wide range of musical styles on vinyl.

    Thanks for the review. Can they be used close to a rear wall like the advertising pictures suggest? You would think that rear port would cause problems. Also, are they good nearfield? The sloping front seems to suggest desktop use (?).

    • @TheAudiophileMan
      @TheAudiophileMan  Год назад +3

      You need to experiment in terms of taste re. Bass performance but I wouldn’t place them right next to the wall. The sloping front, as I say in the video may relate more to driver timing. For near field, the Edifiers may be too large for some in terms of physical presence but they will provide a powerful option if you’re after a big rig sound from a PC, for example. Just give it quality components to feed off to make the most of its excellent sound.

    Hi there, I have a question. With the S1000W speakers, if you have your turntable hooked up to your speakers, do u experience a sound drop for about a split half a second about a minute or 2 into the record. The reason I ask is because I experience that. I will start ti play a record at the beginning of the side and about a minute or 2 into the song , the sound drops. Please let me know if this happens to you. Thank u. 22:16

    Reviews have mentioned that the sound control on the remote isn’t as fine as many people would have wanted, resulting in an often too low or too high volume. This lack of steps would be very bothersome to me. What was your experience during use?

    Your picture for the AudioEngine A80 is actually the Airpulse A80; a very different, much more advanced beast. At least, I own the slightly bigger brother: the Airpulse A100's and they are awesome as a near field desktop setup. Especially with a sub connected to them. Airpulse is in fact manufactured by Edifier in participation with speaker designer Phil Jones and marketed as a premium hifi brand.

    • @TheAudiophileMan

      It was a label mistake - apologies. Here's my review of the Airpulse A80. Despite Mr Jones' association, the speakers have issues: ruclips.net/video/LhMMgyTm5Co/видео.html

      @@TheAudiophileMan Ah I see, thank you for clarifying. And for linking your review on them. I must say I only use my A100's over USB and I had 0 no complaints so far in close to three years. The sound has evolved to be somewhat less sibilant in the highs in that period too. The mid drivers are a bit larger on the A100 so maybe that helps with the mids a little compared to the A80's.

    Hi There. nice review. I own both the edifier S3000 Pro and the edifier S2000 Mk III. Both are excellent with the former having a brighter tonality and the latter having a warmer tonality. Edifier is high on the Value for Money Quotient. I had a question though. Does the S1000 W support Apple Music? Does apple music need to be cast from a phone or does the speaker have it built in?
