I've got a pair in the bedroom. I've got them on Monoprice Moniliths . I have them laying horizontal on the stands. I am listening to them while laying down on a Floyd platform bed. Did an upgrade from the 4309s and an Arcam SA20. Got a CD transport going into the coaxial. Got the M3 MacBook Pro going into the usb. Got 4430s in the living room. PS. Rug Grabbers from Amazon on the stands before laying the wood sides of the JBLs onto the stands. Literally a game changer for stand mounted speakers. Stick the rug grabber adhesive side down the the stand. Let the speaker rest on the foam. Literally solid as a rock .
I’ve just got the JBL 4305P smaller brother to this. It has blown me away how good it sounds, over Airplay. I had Klipsch the fives and KEF LSX II, and the JBL’s are better in every way.
The nines are VERY good, I've owned those 3 times, wish I had kept a set around, I will give credit to the focal alpha 80s which replaced those with and controlling those with a Peachtree preamp, they are as good as the nines, honestly I'd say the focals edge them out by a bit, especially without having to download an app, I do love the nines pretty equal to the alphas though, close matchup@@joncruz
Listened to these at the Paris HiFi show with my wife, who absolutely fell in love with their sound. Without doubt it is a fun, engaging, open and very dynamic speaker. Despite all the super highend stuff at the show, which I don't think were demo'd very well, the JBLs were the sound of the show. Had a great chat with the JBL rep there too, a super nice guy.
Thanks John, there is something special about large stand mounts! I definitely like the idea of the inputs going into the master speaker rather than both. I also love the JBL blue baffle with wood surround, I agree the stands let them down a little. On aesthetics, in my opinion the best looking active at the moment has to go to the Super Wax Mini by Pitt & Giblin, drop dead gorgeous, I'm hoping to get a demo soon. The LS60 are in Portugal. Obrigado !
Thanks for mentioning the music you listened to. Ever so often I find gems that I love to bits! Add-on to this video: - The JBL 4329P are also available in white - The Buchardt comparison might be rather A10 (also having digital amps/ PowerDACs) than A500 in my opinion - I agree that the compression tweeter and classic ported paper cone woofer are a refreshing alternative to the Buchardts or passive speakers that are lively - JBL could easily scale this speaker up to a 12 inch + big horn (still two-way) with the same electronics. We'll see if they ever do.
“The LS60 are in Portugal” …Another fantastic review as always! These all in one streaming active speakers are becoming more and more appealing as the technology advances. At this price point, I would love to see a comparison done between these and the active streaming Elipson W35xi …fingers crossed 🤞 Thanks @DarkoAudio for your continued quality RUclips content! Cheers from 🇨🇦
The LS60 are in Portugal. An informative and entertaining video, as always. Just chiming in to express my sincere appreciation for your mentions of Talk Talk in your last couple of videos. Hoping this exposes more of your audience to their work, particularly their later material.
Love how you slipped Bizzare Love Triangle in there! Age of consent or Ceremony are my New Order jams. Also, I do not believe that HDMI has been widely adopted in a studio environment, a place where these JBL's were meant to do their business.
The LS60s have ditched the studio and jetted off to Portugal, sipping port wine and working on their tan while the rest of us toil away in the audio lab.
It's more like a writhing, boiling pit of snakes in my system. I have to wear stout gloves in case I get bitten, and often have to distract an xlr cable with my left hand while trying to unplug it with my right.
HUGE respect for your choice of Richard Thompson's song about the Black Lighting. What a bike, what a song! For those looking for another charming (but not as serious) song about a famous motorcycle, try various versions of "My Little Honda 50".
Very interesting review, especially at the very end when you talk about what speaker design or size tends to work best for this room. had a similar challenge with finding the right size speaker for my mixed space, and finally rested on a slim dynaudio tower because that's what sounded best.
“The LS60’s are in Portugal” …. Another brill review! I have a bit of a soft spot for the jBL vibe… I can see those in my lounge in the next couple of months..
Very nice review. Still very happy with my DA Focus 30XD. Yes, they are only analog, digital or wireless in. For my set-up that work great in combination with a Linn Akurate DSM. The DSM gives me all inputs/outputs I need, with just one coax cable going to the Dyns. O, the Keff’s went south 😁
The LS are in Portugal. At least, that’s what I’m hearing… Thanks for the video, John. I may never buy an active speaker any more expensive than the little Bluetooth unit in my bathroom, but I like to know what’s going on in the world. Now that my Klipsch Forte IVs are broken in, I’ll probably stick with them for the foreseeable future. 🎉
Hello John, first I wanted to just say thank you for your work. I was sick the last week and simultaneously addicted to your channel. I'm not a big hifi guy, but I do like good sound and I love your taste in music and have been constantly shazam-ing the shit out of your videos. I'm really glad about all the music I found thanks to your videos. On my sickbed, I had a video idea, something that I would quite enjoy, but of course do not know whether it makes sense for you to make or not. I'll leave it here anyway. You talk a lot about how judging something or comparing it to something else based on memory doesn't make sense -- which I totally agree to. But I think audio memory is something beautiful. I used to have a pair of ATL Hans Deutsch loudspeakers and I do not know whether they're good or bad, but I love to think about them and their 'amazing soundstage' (which I have no proof for) and mainly the music I listened to on them. You made this one video where you put together a hifi system that you used to own. Here is my suggestion: Why not revisit systems you used to listen to in a similar manner, and with them the music you listened to on them, and in such a way re-examine your memories? Find out where your memory is sentimental, where it is accurate and what you think about these aspects (the systems and the music) today, side to side to new gear that you currently actually review. I can see how this is an awful lot of work. But I would love to watch something like this and I would love to go down memory lane in terms of music with you. Don't know, just wanted to leave that here. Have a great day.
Interesing, as i never associated JBL with high end audio. ps, the LS 60's are in portugal. Just starting a belated journey into the aidiophle world which as as complicated as Inception, but I have gracefully landed on your channel due to your uncomplicated and straightforward presentations. I can see you're going to cist me some retirment money in sorting out my room, befire even getting started on speakers!! Anyway, big thanks
The impressive dynamics are definitely part of the JBL's "house sound". My HDI-1600's are a definite showstopper material (for the price) on this department for sure. Especially the punch of the spearkers is *chef's kiss*.
Standard 6M Ethernet cable can be used to interconnect them - will give you the length you need. Works exactly the same as their cable. Amazon sell numerous HDMI to Toslink adapters for less than £20 - they also work perfectly and seamlessly.
I really appreciate you sharing the music you used for testing. I’m trying to expand my music library. The Ls60 are in Portugal. Edit: Also I appreciate your comment about large stand mount speakers being a category unto their own and being superior to the other two kinds in some spaces.
I do like a speaker with dynamic ability. BTW, The LS60 are in Portugal. As a bit of nostalgic fun (for your room), try a pair of ADS L810's with your favorite amp/DAC etc. Use your speaker stands and be pleased.
Great video as always. LOVE 'good' JBL sound (I love my old SVA-2100's still to this day) Would love for you to list those tracks in the description 😃 "The LS60 are in Portugal"
First of all, the LS60s are in Portugal! Good review, John, of a cool and convenient product. A little pricey though, and I agree with you on the shabby remote/short interconnect cable issue; unacceptable for a 4 grand product! BTW, really dig that Thorens, looks like an old broadcast ‘table…..👍
Since we are talking Future-Fi (love the term!), I am curious about your take on the JBL’s vs the also tested Dynaudio Focus 30’s. Great video’s and also loving the podcasts!!
The sound effect you used to mask whatever frequency you said instead of *28hz was the synth from the beginning of Bizarre Love Triangle. Unmistakable! Lol
You know, if you wanna, I could send you a couple of vinyls from my collection. Copyright free music so you don’t have to replace your listening/testing with library music. 😎
Cable vomit…such an eloquent term for this bane on our lives. Fantastic video as always, sir. These JBLs are a stretch for my budget but something to possibly aspire to. The Kef LS60 are living their best life in Portugal.
Great review! I would like to ask which connection method is better if I use 4329P to play streaming music (eg: SPOTIFY). Would an external standalone DAC device significantly improve its sound (via the XLR input)? The 4329P looks like the perfect candidate to upgrade my listening system in a small room. Thanks again for the great video.
The LS60’s are in Portugal. Thanks for the review. Active speakers are growing in popularity. Are you going to review the Devialet Phantom Golds? I have them, but am curious what you think in your room.
JBL make some great speakers. I’ve had the L82 MK 1 for a few months now and they are so much fun to listen to. I’d upgrade to the L100’s in a heart beat if I didn’t have such a small listening room.

The LS60's are in Portugal... I'm the kind of person who'd put 4329P on my desk if I could afford them... I now have M-Audio BX8 D3 (8 inch woofer) on my desk at 60cm listening distance, so the JBL would fit there too and the improved dynamics would definetely be welcome...
Thank you for reviewing our products, great to hear you are enjoying them! 🔥

Noted, thank you. I'm thinking about getting a pair JBL instead of the 7s or 9s
Anything is better than The Fives, I own the Nines and it's a game changer.
Definitely a pair of speakers going on my list of need to be auditioned. Thanks for a good review.
the LS60s are in portugal. Just gotta say it cuz everyone else did.
The LS60's are in Portugal! Great video.
Costly affair
've been waiting for 4329p for quite a while, great job jbl
The LS 60s are in Portugal! Great job John. As always. Thanks for all your work to get these done.
The LS 60's are in Portugal.
Thank you for the videos and your insight John 🙌

That turntable... wow. Review incoming I hope 🙂
Great review, as always. Also, beautiful changes in the room. The Samsung Frame on that wall is just amazing.
Ah, and… the LS60 are in Portugal 😅

The LS60s are in Portugal. I stuck it out 'til the bitter end ;) Another great video!
Thanks for mentioning the music you listened to. Ever so often I find gems that I love to bits!

The LS60s are in Portugal. Another informative and well-made video John - thanks.
Love your enthusiasm John! Nice review.

"Cable vomit" is a succinct, stunning and poetic description of what lurks behind and hopelessly plagues our audio gear.
I'm not sure if its the precursor or the result of a cable salad. PS the LS60's are in portugal
In the pro world we called it "the rats nest"
Every custom PC's internal cable management be like:
opportunity to flaunt your pantyhosed stringy-thingies :)
It's more like a writhing, boiling pit of snakes in my system. I have to wear stout gloves in case I get bitten, and often have to distract an xlr cable with my left hand while trying to unplug it with my right.
Great video as always. Very informative. Oh and don't forget those LS60 in Portugal!
The LS60 are in Portugal. Fascinating and insightful as always
HUGE respect for your choice of Richard Thompson's song about the Black Lighting. What a bike, what a song! For those looking for another charming (but not as serious) song about a famous motorcycle, try various versions of "My Little Honda 50".
I have far too much electronic and indie rock in my collection thanks to John😂 So this episode’s mix was refreshing.
The LS60s are in Portugal!
Active is the way forward. Love all the content on active speakers.
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock is one of the most difficult albums at first, but after many listens, you get it.
Its predecessor ' Spirt Of Eden' is a masterpiece.
Magnificent review by John Darko 🎉
The LS60's are in Portugal - thanks for another great review John.🖖
Thanks for this great review of these JBL's, Darko. - "The LS60 are in Portugal".
The LS 60's are in Lisbon, Portugal!!! And I enjoyed your presentation!
The LS 60 is in Portugal, well done on another terrific review❤
The LS60 are in Portugal!

The LS60 are in Portugal. I don't like the JBL aesthetic but would love to listen to it. Good video! 🙂

LS6 are in Portugal, Brilliant Review & Many Thanks
The ls60 are in Portugal. Another great review. JBL’s look sweet.
The LS60's are in Portugal. Excellent infotainment as usual.
I really appreciate you sharing the music you used for testing. I’m trying to expand my music library.
The Ls60 are in Portugal.
Edit: Also I appreciate your comment about large stand mount speakers being a category unto their own and being superior to the other two kinds in some spaces.
the LS60's are in Portugal. 🙂 I have a pair for JBL L100 Classics on their angled stand and really like them.
I do not care if the LS60s are in Portugal, I care about how freaking gorgeous that Thorens is! 😮
The LS 60s are in Portugal! love your style
The LS60's are in Portugal! Great video as always.
The LS60 are in Portugal. Awesome review!
The LS 60z are still in Portugal and another fine broadcast.
Another great review even if "The LS60's are in Portugal".
Awesome channel!
The LS 60 might be in Portugal… but the Thorens TD 124 DD is here - and man, that is some sexy piece of gear. 😊
The LS60 are in Portugal. Great job. Very entertaining.

The LS60 are in Portugal… wish they would do an active version of the retro look. Would love an l82 classic active with those quadrax foam grilles!
John, you’re back! “The LS60 are in Portugal”.

The LS60 are in Portugal.
Great review! Sorry I’m late to view it. I also see they’re on sale for $3,500 usd at the moment.
Thank you sir for another great review!
The LS60's are in Portugal...but should be in my house! Stay well mate.
The LS60s are in Portugal - although I think they should be in my living room in Pretoria, South Africa 😂
Thanks John, and indeed the LS60 are still in Portugal ;-)
Since we are talking Future-Fi (love the term!), I am curious about your take on the JBL’s vs the also tested Dynaudio Focus 30’s.
Great video’s and also loving the podcasts!!
The sound effect you used to mask whatever frequency you said instead of *28hz was the synth from the beginning of Bizarre Love Triangle. Unmistakable! Lol
Glad I'm not the only nerd who picked up on that 😆
The LS60 are in Portugal. I always watch all the way through!
You know, if you wanna, I could send you a couple of vinyls from my collection. Copyright free music so you don’t have to replace your listening/testing with library music. 😎
Where can I buy your vinyl? Currently I only have the Petscii Robots ST. Thanks, love your stuff.
Love your music Anders!
Ls60 in Portugal. Great review as ever. 🌟
Cable vomit…such an eloquent term for this bane on our lives. Fantastic video as always, sir. These JBLs are a stretch for my budget but something to possibly aspire to. The Kef LS60 are living their best life in Portugal.
I can't take credit for the term 'cable vomit' but I do think it's the best way to describe the wires that yawn from the back of some actives.
Love the Global Communication release. Middleton and Pritchard at their best.
😂 The LS 60 are in Portugal!!! 😂. As always, great job on the review…. And yes stayed til the very end of the video as always….
Now back to work!!
The LS 60s are in Portugal. Great review.
The LS60's are in Portugal! Yep, I always stay.

you should try the big brother of this!!! you would be blown away!!
The LS60 are in Portugal. The JBLs sound like the perfect solution/ alternative to Sonos’s proprietary madness.
KEF LS 60 are in Portugal.
In my opinion such speakers should definitely have HDMI ARC!
The LS60’s are in Portugal. Thanks for the review. Active speakers are growing in popularity. Are you going to review the Devialet Phantom Golds? I have them, but am curious what you think in your room.
LS 60s are in Portugal, nice video.
The LS60 are in Den Haag!
Get those speakers, use a phone for pre amp/streamer, done! System will sound better than many people spent big $ on.
JBL make some great speakers. I’ve had the L82 MK 1 for a few months now and they are so much fun to listen to. I’d upgrade to the L100’s in a heart beat if I didn’t have such a small listening room.
That Surface Studio looks pretty ...and the LSFs are in Portugal 😊😊
The LS60's are in Portugal and I noticed your background acoustics changed on the wall in behind your TV monitor. What's up with that? Love the video!
Those Dang LS60's are in Portugal. Till next time!
“The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain”, meanwhile, the LS60s are in Portugal!
I run the WiiM Ultra with the Klipsch Nines. I'm very pleased. They also can use a Sub. But I don't use one yet. I will say that Nines could use a front port instead of the rear, so room placement isn't as important.
